Now, the Law of the Jungle states that each wolf cub must be brought forth and recognized by the council so they may see him and accept them into the pack. Each of you have brought your own wolf cubs to be recognized. One by one, they roll from the shadows into the moonlight.

"Look well, Oh Wolves! Look Well!" intones Akela from the council rock, "You know the Law! Look well!"

howlingwolf.jpg

He says this as each one of their light grey faces roll before the pack, yipping as they roll on the cold rock. All goes well, and then Akela stops and looks down, frowning. The wolves around you look at each other confused as well, then back towards the last cub that has been pushed forward. It is a man's cub.

The council erupts.

"What are we to do with it?"

"Where did it come from?"

"What has it to do with us?"

"The Law states that we must accept a cub before it may run with the pack," intones Akela,

"But that is not a wolf cub! Send it away!" shouts a dark grey wolf, his tail on end.

"Let it be banished," shouts another.

"Yes," a smarmy voice in the dark echoes, "What have the free people to do with a man's cub?"

"But I have treated Mowgli, the man cub, as my own son," implores Father Wolf, "it is only just that he run with the pack."

The wolves look at it and bicker amongst each other.

Suddenly a low growl which is heard throughout the council area.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIhIoNagmjI

"Give it! Give it to me! Come not between Shere Khan and his quarry!"

Everyone stops and looks around.

"Shere Khan?"

"Shere Khan is here?"

"What about the Law? He can't do that!"

Chaos ensues. Some wolves run to protect their cubs. Others continue arguing with Akela and Father Wolf. All is silent in the dark forest.

"This matter is not clear." says Akela. But the council meeting has deteriorated into a confused and angry mob. Voices surround you in the dark. Some shout to abandon Mowgli, some shout to save their cubs, some shout support for the mancub and his family, and some shout to appease the great tiger whom now lurks amongst you. It is certain that your peaceful tribe is no longer at peace.

DAY 1 BEGINS!

All PMs sent. If you did not get a role, PM me. Likewise PM with any questions.

Day 1 Deadline Monday 4/18/11 10 PM EST / 7 PM PST. Best get those taxes done today then.

And just to reiterate, if you are a VANILLA VILLAGER, your PM looks like this:

You are a member of the SEEONEE WOLF PACK. You hunt with the pack for food and attend meetings of the council led by Akela. You are definitely eager for tonight's moonlit council as your cubs have now grown enough to be recognized as members of the pack.
THIS IS A VANILLA VILLAGER ROLE. You have no special powers.

So the roles look pretty standardish, other than the hypnotist (never played with that role in the game) and that the lovers have a kill ability (kind of wonder if CF added that as a nod to his role in the recent GF game). I imagine with the number of players we have, we can expect to see all the roles in play. The Hypnotist ability seems like it could be fairly dangerous in terms of messing with things.

Here I am.

So what do people normally talk about in standard games on day one? Usually you discuss the ruleset and possible ways to use it to the village's advantage. Is it better just to get to the voting so that there's more chance of causing discussions that way?

Anyway 21 players = 5 baddies to we think?

I definitely think it's to our advantage to start the voting early. Given there's no history yet, having 36 hours of voting can help make up for that.

I'm assuming with all the people that we have signed up vs the limited amount of listed roles that all of them are probably in the game. And five does seem a safe bet for wolves with no cultist or conversions and the village having two possible kills with the hunter roles.

Yeah I imagine CF will include him in some of the writeups for game flavor, I was just surprised by him not being a role.

I'd say this is most likely as there is no cultist or potential convert.

The ruleset is pretty simple with this one, so I don't think we need a whole lot of discussion there.

AaroOoOo...

I push my cubs behind me and hover over them to keep them safe. I say the mancub should run with the pack! Father Wolf is very wise and we would do well to listen to his words! Shere Khan has broken the Law and we should unite against him!

Hiya all, villager member of the Seeonee Wolf pack checking in.

From my (admittedly very limited) experience he is;
a) quiet unless prodded, and
b) a baddie

While (b) speaks against him being a baddy here (no, I know it doesn't really) I would like to work on (a).

After the last couple of games, I'm a very big fan of trying to vote the quiet players early and not locking onto the players who are vocal in the first couple of days. Seems like more often that not we read way too much into something small that someone says, end up killing good villagers and trying to play "guess which quiet guy might be a wolf" in the midgame.

So somebody who off the top of my head is usually under the radar and I'd like to hear something from

Super excited to watch the first episode tonight.

Anyways four or five wolves sounds about right for the amount of players we have in this game and as Danny said there is nothing particularly complex about the rule set that catches my attention.

With that being said I am quiet Bhlloy but I am a member of the Seeonee Wolf Pack.

Cool, glad to be back in a game after missing a couple.

I'm working with a new client tomorrow and Wednesday and I'm doubtful that I'll have a ton of access for much of that time. I'll try to be as active as possible working around those constraints.

The moon has dipped behind the clouds and in the dark, those around you begin to fight. They bark their will at each other. You really aren't sure who anyone is anymore, nor where they are.
Every branch that moves looks like another angry creature of the jungle...or maybe that wasn't a branch.

Because Autumn's line is the most obvious move to make if he's a werewolf. I'm not a fan of how lots of people seem to feel like they have to play with their cards close to their chests for fear of being lynched. Not only does it make things less interesting (in my opinion) but it helps out the wolfies.
