The Lions are a dumpster fire. Time for a new coach and a house cleaning....again. It has become a thing for Lions fans. Kind of like flu shots.

It only took 6 years, but Blaine Gabbert is looking like an NFL QB today.

Pretty disgusted with my beloved Cardinals this season. Lose to the Rams at home-they just cannot seem to protect Carson Palmer. And he, David Johnson and Chris Johnson might have got hurt.

Agreed that the decision to move on (and so quickly) from Norman is looking hubristic, but Matt Ryan has been lighting everyone up so far... Haven't seen any ATL play yet, is there a plausible narrative for his poor play the last couple years or resurgence so far in 2016?

Look at the schedule thus far. That seems likely to have a good bit to do with it.

Lynch comes in for Denver today and makes some very nice throws. Denver can't run the football, but nothing seems to matter. The defense continues to be the defense. They just lay the hammer down game in, game out.

Denver by quarter:

1st - 13 - 24
2nd - 40 - 20
3rd - 6 - 7
4th - 52 - 13

So, yeah. you get to them early or you forget about it.

Next week it is the high flying Falcons coming into Denver. Should be a fun one.

Sanu is an upgrade from Roddy White. Tevin Coleman was hurt repeatedly last year.

The rookie TE also looks like a positive contributor. The Falcons had no one last year outside of Jones and Freeman

Alex Mack. Do not underestimate how much a solid center means to a quarterback. Matt's numbers have declined ever since Todd McClure was released. Now, he has returned to being comfortable to step up in the pocket and not rush his progressions.

Has the NFL become more unpredictable? I've correctly picked the winner 31 out of 62 games so far, I think that's below my usual success rate. But on a larger scale, the odds makers aren't doing much better. From what I can see the straight up favorites won 34 times.

I started Julio Jones.

Matt Ryan was a free agent in my league...his schedule looked pretty tough so I wasn't surprised that he was left there.

Always is early in the year. You have teams that people don't trust (Eagles, Falcons to name a couple), teams that are off to surprisingly poor starts (Cardinals, Panthers) and the standard upsets.

In another 2 or 3 weeks, this are going to stabalize. The good/bad teams will be more clearly divided. We'll be down to upsets. Your percentage will go higher as will Vegas.

I think the Panthers are just bad. They have a rookie at left corner and the O-line can't protect Cam when he drops back. Stewart is still out and the only person they can reliably throw to is Greg Olsen. Now Cam has a concussion and they're probably gonna lose to the Bucs this week

Is it bad I've gotten to the point where I find simulation board games more enjoyable than the actual games? No tedious commercials, inept refs, stupid penalty rules, etc.

ESPN doesn't matter when during it's highlights they make stupid statements like, "Could have been a PI but it doesn't matter when you make plays like that."

With just about all sporting events not involving MY teams, the TV is background noise. I've been playing MLB The Show tonight with the game on mute in the background. (the video game is also on mute, listening to a podcast)

And why is it that college teams that call aggressive plays and arent afraid to take chances score a lot more points than NFL teams that seem content to let the game be decided in the 4th quarter. I find it mildly amusing how many 1-2 yard rushing plays a NFL team is will to live with before deciding "hey, this doesnt work maybe we should try passing" and are able to score at will once they start passing every down.

I'm really loving the Seahawks so far. Even hurt, Wilson is passing the hell out of the ball and has 2 great options at RB. I thought when lynch retired they were done...but this RB Michael with all his spinmoves and just breaking through the holes is just amazing! Lotsa weapons!

Truth. The Giants have some great deep threat receivers and a veteran QB with a good arm; but apparently playing a great pass rush means you have to run your fourth string RB into the line or throw a screen pass on first and second down, even when you are down 17 points

holy crap WTF!!!!

something happened in the hawks/jets game that i was laughing at.

the jets CHALLENEGED that a catch was out of bounds and it was REALLY obvious he was inbounds. That TO cost was followed by an ACTUAL TO and voila...they had 1 TO left for the entire second half...and as a result they had speedy sloppy huddles and snaps the rest of the game.

it really was a bad decision

I'm still in disbelief that the same Rams team that looked abysmal that first Monday night in SF is now 3-1, with a home win over the Hawks and a road win over the Cards.

The offense is still terrible, but damn that D is legit. Quinn, Donald, Ogletree, Barron, Johnson, Gaines, McDonald are all rocking right now.

Yeah this type of crap continues despite Coughlin leaving. Barring some unforeseen breakthrough in oline play...Jerry Reese will be gone after this likely 7-9 or 8-8 season. And they've essentially pissed away the last 5+ years of Eli's career....not that Eli doesn't have his share of that blame.

And despite being cautiously optimistic the first few weeks, assuming some kinks needed to be worked out, I am unimpressed with the defense that Spags is putting out there. New players, same inept pass rush and gaping holes in the middle of the field. I mean....when you rush only 4, why are there uncovered receivers out there? To be fair, the offense is silly with all the 3 or 4 plays and out, and they are marginally better against the run so far but they are still incapable of getting to the QB with any sort of regularity.

Same old crappy Giants.

Yeah I'm finding the celebration and taunting penalties to be ridiculous. I'm waiting to see them start enforcing profanity penalties.

There is gray area where celebrating becomes taunting, but they have swung it into the absurd.

Last week vs Washington was inexcusable, but last night and next week at GB are really tough games for any NFL team to win. If they fall to 2-3, I still think they can turn the season around when the schedule eases up. It will take a bit of time for all the new parts to gel and the new coach only has 4 games under his belt. I think there is a good chance that this team turns a corner in the next few weeks.

the Jags have played four $100 million quarterbacks this season, and their defense is fifth in the league in passing yards allowed giving up less than 199 passing yards per game. They are tied for third place in the league in sacks with 12 in four games. Five of those 12 sacks are by defensive players under 23 years old. One of those defensive players has a pass deflection in each of the last two games that led to an interception. One of those defensive ends has a sack in three consecutive games and an interception in one of those games. It’s rare in the NFL to hit on a large group of draft choices in a short period. Usually within a group you have a player or two miss – even if all players in that group are selected early. The Jaguars drafted four defensive players in the first four rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft – defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, cornerback Jalen Ramsey, linebacker Myles Jack and defensive tackle Sheldon Day. Throw in Dante Fowler Jr. from the first round of last year’s draft and you have what appears to be a remarkable group of young defensive players. This could be on the verge of getting interesting.
