This is why I don't bet football.

I forgot to take into consideration the "Rick Neuheisel sucks, and so do any defensive coaches he hires" factor. It's a very significant factor, and it was foolish of me to forget.

Have no idea what to take tonight. I may just sit it out. I had a killer weekend hitting almost every play I made. Funny thing is I was away with my wife and hardly watched a second.

Was just going to ask this myself.... And what's the turnaround? I'm most interested in putting some money down on season team/player prop bets moreso than individual games (at least initially).... is there still time to get money deposited and available prior to Thursday nights game?

No idea on bodog. But...should be plenty of time before Thursdays games. Usually, if a deposit goes through, it's your immediately to play with.

Jumped on the Eagles -5 1/2 Just don't see any way the Rams hang with their speed. That being said I fully expect 10-14 late points and a backdoor cover.

Everybody and their mom has the Rams as the sleeper of the week. The line is now at -4 1/2 most places. If I remember correctly, you could have gotten the Rams at +7 or more before pre-season started and Vick was seen getting abused regularly. Personally, I love the Rams and really wish I would've put my money where my mouth was 3 weeks ago.

I think Spagnulo will have the Rams D ready to play in a frenzied Dome. They'll come after Vick and abuse him. Bradford should be able to hit RB's and TE's all day long and Jackson/Cadillac should be able to pound the Eagles front 7.

Other games I really like:
Steelers +2.5
Panthers +7
Tennessee +3.5 (Looks like it's off the board now dangit)

See a lot of 6 point teaser candidates like the Pats at -7, Chargers at -9, Browns -6.5, Lions +1.

Update: tried to make a deposit via my visa credit card last night so I could get some season win bets in prior to Thursday. Unfortunately trying to do so via the web did not work as my deposits were declined by Chase (I assume).

So, this morning I see I have an email from bodog saying we see you had some problems making your deposit, please call if we can help. I call from work this morning with the only real intention of getting some clarification regarding visa gift cards such as whether any worked better than others. However, the lady on the phone took my cc info and tried again... And the deposit goes through. I hang up, log on, and see the balance of my deposit - fees + bonus in my account.

Within the hour I am getting voice mails from chase fraud prevention about a transaction with an amount similar, but not the same, to what my charge (deposit) should have been. I didnt have time to call until this evening and when I go through the fraudulent charges, there is not one but two charges for similar but not exact amounts and they are listed as electronics/computer stores. I indicated they were fraudulent and closed the account. Not a big deal as I intentionally used a card I never use but it left a very sour taste in my mouth. Also disappointing as I was really looking forward to getting into some regular NFL gambling this year.

I had the exact same issues as you with a Chase debit card. I don't know if it's Chase completely (or even deliberately) miscategorizing these charges, fraud or just the way that Bodog is trying to hide their charges, but I wasn't taking any chances. Like you the amounts were close but not exact to the amount Bodog was supposed to be taking out.

It's not worth jumping through this many hoops and wondering about who is using my bank account to me and having to deal with fraud prevention whenever there is a charge to some department store in Iceland. I'll just bet when I'm in Vegas and with friends.

The amounts being off sounds very shady. I had fraud detection triggered any time I deposited to poker sites from 2005ish on, but it was always just an automated phone call to confirm the amounts to get it taken care of. The random vendor that the charge appears under is their rather shady way of attempting to skirt around the UIGEA. Poker sites were doing that for a long time with varying success before they were completely shut out of the US.

Things have changed a lot in recent months so on line casinos and stuff need to disguise their charges. I highly recommend NOT using an account with an established bank. You can use the all access visa card NetSpend | Prepaid Debit Cards, Prepaid Visa Cards, Prepaid MasterCards, and Direct Deposit Prepaid Cards. You load that card then use it to fund BoDog. The charges may be off because of a service fee, etc...

I will say I have used BoDog for years and never once felt cheated.

Hmm, we'll have to agree to disagree, I don't think the running game will that much of a factor for the Rams once they get down, then it'll just be ball hawking for the Eagles D. I like the Rams too, I just think these are teams on two different levels.

Added NO +4 1/2, should have waited though as it's up to 5 now. Story of my week. Also have a play on Wisconsin -22.

Despite getting burned in last years opener with the Saints I went with the over 48 tonight. May take some player props if I have time to look them up before the game starts. Also went over 24 in first half and took the over in the OK State game at 68.

Have 3 bets going this weekend:

2-team teaser (I know) with Auburn +13 and Stanford -14
Tennessee +2 vs. Jax
Denver -3 vs. Oakland

MAde it home to take the props and did great. Had Brees and Rodgers both +280 passing yards, Pack to score +28, longest TD +41, first quarted +10 and Pack to go over 13.5 in the first half.

I really wanna play Auburn tomorrow as I think they've played two pretty good teams and aren't getting the respect they deserve. But a lot of people on covers seem to be leaning Clemson which makes me nervous.

Iowa State ought to be out of this game already but Uconn is just not taking advantage of their sloppy play.

I don't know. Clemson looked pretty marginal against Wofford and Auburn looks like the better team. IMO, it should be a pick'em in Clemson and you get 3.5 points. Not a sure thing by any stretch, but I feel like Auburn should win this.

Temple +7 is tempting too (wish I would have gotten on it at +9/10).
