This was probably one of the tougher matches that went on. Pritchard is a great surprise with the amount of work and the number of goals that he is generating. Gibb is a presence, it's just that he is spotty at times.

This is Pritchards Goal starting off he scoring.

So now the issue of being an amateur team is starting to creep up on Joel. Paying teams are starting to eyeball Pritchard, Porter and a few others. The only thing Joel can do is give them a specific talent and worth to the club and hope they take it. Right now, everyone has been pretty content.

Match Time

Not much to say in regards to this match. The team decided they wanted to keep in the FA Cup and took it to Hoddesdon. Danvers scores the Hat-trick and is in a great mood.

The Goal of the Match is the goal in the 49th minute by Danvers.

09/29/10 - Ilfracombe - Away

A tired team is headed to Marlborough Park to take on Ilfracombe. With that said. There will be several reserve players playing today.

Odd Down Lineup

GK Rusling
D Morris / Whelan / Shelton / Metcalfe
DM Gonsalves
M Woods / Murray
AM Cowan
ST Gibb / Pritchard

Subs: Hegarty / Woodley / Lever / Pembleton / Banton

Ilfracombe runs a 4-1-4-1 and are picked as the favorites however, The Non-League Paper thinks the teams are evenly matched.

Match Time

3' Cowan gives it to Gibb he spins by his defender and shoots, just missing the goal.

14' Metcalfe is kicked a pass to his spot on the top right corner of the box and he one times the shot. Ilfracombe's keeper was lucky to turn it. Corner Kick.

20' Morris fires a shot from near the sideline on the lower left side and the keeper blocks it while the defender clears the shot.

25' Morris hits a free kick from the lower left side near the box. His pass is one timed by Shelton which is blocked by Ilfracombe's keeper. Morris collects the clearing pass and fires it into Whelan. Whelan's header goes over the cross bar.

39' Morris has a centering pass from the lower left side of the box and it is cleared out.

At half, Woods and Pritchard are just flat out wore out and Pembleton and Banton replace them.

46' Gibb has a free kick that he sends which is just amazing and Murray goes for the header and it is just over the cross bar.

57' Ilfracombe's Powell sends a shot from the top of the half circle which goes wide of the goal.

67' Long fires a shot from about 25 m out and barely misses the cross bar. Ilfracombe is picking up the pace now.

71' Pembleton is working the lower left side of the box and he is one on one with the keeper and his shot is blocked by the keeper.

73' Ilfracombe's Adam has Rusling out of position and he tries to lob the shot over Rusling and it hits the top of the net, barely missing a goal.

Honestly, the draw is a happy thing for the squad considering they were wore out, completely tired and by the end of the game it was apparent as Ilfracombe turned it up and tried to pressure the team into making mistakes, which they almost did. The draw places Odd Down in 5th with 10 points.

Nice little run going, I haven't played this mod since FM 09, where would you get promoted to next season if things continue?

Yeah, the cup matches are what shocks me. I know the players are beat after the matches and my talent is wore out on the reserve side as well. I do have some depth in the U18 squad but I don't know if it is safe enough bringing them up.

I will have to look, but I think it would be the Zamaretto League Division One South & West.

A little congested at the beginning of the month but thins out towards the end. Let's hope the players can keep it up.

The training report came back and Danny Partridge is miserable and not doing anything solid. Joel approaches Danny and tells him he is going down to Reserves due to the poor performance, Joel also tells Danny he needs to step it up to training and Danny get's defensive. Joel tells him tough and Danny storms out of the meeting.

A tired team that will need to step it up. There have been some movement as Joel promoted a few players from the U18 team and Reserves to help rest some of the starters.

Odd Down Lineup:

GK Hegarty
D Wright / Porter / Tooth / Shelton
DM Gray
M Murray / Smith (U18 Promotion)
AM Banton
ST Hooper (U18 Promotion) / Pritchard

Subs: Rusling / Cowan / Lever / Gibb / Metcalfe

Longwell Green will play in a 4-4-2 and are playing as the dog in this game. The Non-League Paper has Odd Down winning this match easily.

Match Time

13' Longwell's Cook tries to center a pass and it is blocked back to Varney in the top left corner of the box. Varney shoots and it sails over the goal.

17' Pritchard is sent a long pass that he runs to, he gets the ball and challenges the Longwell keeper with a close shot. The keeper makes the save and the shot is cleared from the box.

22' Longwell's Roberts lets go of a scorcher from the top of the half circle 25 m out and hits the upper right V of the goal, scoring! Hegarty is flabbergasted, he had it hit his fingertips. Longwell Green is up 1-0.

34' Longwell's Guest is given a yellow card for grabbing onto Tooth's jersey.

41' Longwell's Cooke is given a yellow card for persistent fouling.

54' A free kick from banton in the lower left corner hits Tooth right on the head and the shot sails over the goal.

63' Gibb is issued a yellow card for diving in the box.

68' Wright sends a great pass over the box right to Cowan who was left open at the top of the 6 m box and sends it right into the lower right corner of the net. Game is tied 1-1.

73' Lever had a break away into the box and was taken down from behind by Longwell's Chris Brown. Brown is issued an immediate red card and Longwell is down a man. Continued protests end up getting another card issued, this one a yellow to Hemmings.

74' It's a penalty kick! Gray lines up, and sends it into the back of the net! Odd Down is now up 2-1.

78' A clean centering pass from Gibb to Lever has Lever wide open and sending the pass into the back of the net. Odd Down is now up 3-1.

A match where it took a bit of yelling from Joel at halftime to wake this team up. The scoring really came on when Joel strategically subbed Lever and Cowan in and put them up on the flanks, so essentially it was a 4-1-1-2-1 that was being played and it caused all sorts of problems for Longwell.

The Goal of the Match was from Lever's shot in the 72nd minute

Some quick news...

Finally find someone worth signing. A Thai striker named Rungratsamee, he is a lot like Gibbs and has some serious speed.

At 15 yrs 332 days, Odd Down Midfielder Ashley Smith is the youngest player ever to start and play in a Western Premier game.

At 16 yrs and 80 days, Christopher Lever is the youngest ever goal scorer for Odd Down.

GK Rusling
D Morris / Wright / Porter / Metcalfe
DM Gray
M Hobbs / Thomas
AM Banton
ST Gibb / Pritchard

Subs: Hegarty / Woods / Shelton / Rungratsamee / Cowan.

Both of the assists wanted the Thai player to start and Joel couldn't see doing that to Pritchard so he will come off the bench.

Welton Rovers will match with formations against the Downers but they are also picked as the dogs in this one. Odd Down hopes to keep it true.

Match Time

8' Welton's Strickland is issued a yellow card for an elbow to Wrights head.

47' Labinjo tries a cross that is cleared but Brooks tries a volley and misses for Welton.

The Downers typically play better when they give up the possession because of their counter attacking capabilities. This was nothing but opportunistic move after move. It was a counter attacking clinic. It does appear that the Rungratsamee signing is definitely a positive move as he had 2 assists and a goal in the match after coming in at the 60th minute.

The Goal of the Match was the diving header by Pritchard

Total over confidence in this game. Rusling played perhaps his worth match ever and wanting to rest the main starters for the FA Cup was a mistake. This is an embarrassing defeat.

Goal of the Match is St. Andrews Stimson hitting the game winner.

What a solid play by the Downers. If it wasn't for the 2 major injuries (Rusling, Porter) this game was a win for the Downers. It will now go to another game, this one at Hastings place and it will be winner moves on.

The Goal of the Match was by Odd Down and Tooth

Joel is going to focus on the league and promotion more than the cups. Right now there are bids coming in to Pritchard and a few of the other talents that have been shining and the only way to keep a team together is to become semi-pro and be able to pay the players.

Odd Down Lineup:

GK Hegarty
D Morris / Porter / Tooth / Metcalfe
DM Gray
M Murray / Woods
AM Banton
ST Gibb / Pritchard

Subs: Rusling / Shelton / Lever / Rungratsamee / Smith

Redstock plays a 4-1-4-1 and they are picked as the dogs for the match.

Match Time

4' Pritchard has a chance from the middle of the box and his shot goes wide.

6' A misplayed clear out in the box has the ball wind up at the feet of Woods who shoots and scores from the top of the box. Odd Down is up 1-0

16' Radstock's Matthew Babic takes Pritchard down in the box for a penalty. It's a penalty kick. Pritchard lines up and sends it into the back of the net. Odd Down is up 2-0.

20' A crossing pass from Porter to Pritchard see's Pritchard take charge and dribble past a defender and send the ball into the back of the net. Goal! Odd Down is up 3-0.

25' Gibb to Banton has Banton lobbing his shot into the goal. Odd Down is up 4-0/

29' Radstock's Fontaine takes a shot from his free kick at 25 m out. Missing the goal wide.

32' Gibb gives to Pritchard who turns and makes a move. His shot hits the side of the net.

34' Gibb dribbles and moves unopposed with the ball and shoots from the right side of the net. He shoots and scores...Odd Down is up 5-0.

39' Gibb receives a yellow for tripping.

43' A counter attack from Porter sends the ball ahead of Gibb and allows him to run under it. Radstock's keeper turns the shot for a corner.

48' Metcalfe is dribbling and dancing with the ball and moves into the box. Metcalfe is taken down and the penalty is called. Penalty Kick! Pritchard lines up, shoots and scores! Odd Down is up 6-0. Pritchard get's his hat trick!

51' Banton is injured. Rungratsamee is subbed in and moved to ST while Pritchard drops back to AM.

54' Gibb receives a pass into the middle of the box, he turns, shoots and scores!

71' Gibb fires from the top of the box and gets it in there. Odd Down is up 8-0!

93' And it piles on for Radstock as Morris fires a crossing pass and it hits their defender and bounces into the net for an own goal. Odd Down is WAY up 9-0!

Not much to say here. This was a redemption clinic. A pissed off group of players can take a team to task when they want to.

Hastings is still in the 4-4-2 and they will be tough to beat. Odd Down are the underdogs in this one and playing at Hastings, it is definitely not a positive.

Match Time

4' Hastings Odgen receives a crossing pass and sinks it in...Hastings is up 1-0.

5' Gibb to Rungratsamee evens the game just as quickly with a pass and a one on one quick shot. It's even 1 to 1

16' Tooth passes a lob from a free kick to Gibb, who heads it to Rungratsamee and his shot goes just wide.

18' Morris hits Rungratsamee on an open cross. He is all alone against the keeper who took a great angle and the shot is blocked and cleared.

22' Another Gibb to Rungratsamee where the shot goes just wide..

24' Hastings Sterling had a shot from a free kick go wide.

27' Morris sends a cross and Woods has a diving header that misses the goal just barely.

31' Woods gets the pass and takes it up the right side and moves into the box, as the defenders step towards him he crosses it low to Rungratsamee who volleys it into the net for his second goal! Odd Down is now up 2-1!

32' Hastings tries to equalize quickly from the kick off and Forbes brings the ball to the goal line on the right side, lobbing cross, Upton heads it but Rusling catches it.

45' This time its a Rungratsamee to Gibb give and go where Gibb's shot just misses the net.

48' Hastings has a well crafted counter that has an Ogden to Robinson play work out where Robisnon's shot goes wide.

57' Hastings sends a long pass and Olodundra receives it, Shelton goes for the tackle from behind and he takes a dive. Shelton is issued the red card and now Odd Down must maintain their lead a man down.

What a perfectly executed game from a tactical stand point. Coach Fallon pointed out that Hastings did not play well against the 4-4-2, High Defensive Line, Slow tempo and narrow field. Joel took it all to heart as did all the Downers. They played the matches of their life against Hastings and extend their life and their fame. Right now, each match the stands are filled with higher level coaches looking at our talent. This is going to be tough.

Rungratsamee has been a major steal as far as a pick up goes. He has talent and is playing quite well.

The Goal of the Match is the 1st goal by Rungratsamee.

A solid performance by the Downers. Pritchard will get his somehow every game, the fact that he and Gibb are injured isn't going to bode well. Need the physio to let us know how bad it is. Odd Down now moves on in the FA Cup.

Goal of the Match is Cowans goal.

Some tired players will not see this game.

A well played match by some tired players. Injuries and depth is starting to take it's toll on this team. Tooth will be out next match, Murray may not be back. Hobbs might be healthy enough to play, but then there are 4 others out.

Goal of the Match is the one in the 80' by Cowan.

Injury riddled, that is the only way to call this. Hobbs is back but not anywhere near 100%. 6 players down with injuries and 2 suspensions. This team is going to be a rag tag team this game.

Odd Down Lineup

GK Hegarty

Barnstaple has been embroiled in 2 attempts with take overs this off season and this last one succeeded. They run a 4-4-2 and are picked to be the underdogs.

Match Time

15' Barnstaples Bainbridge hits a powerful shot from the top towards the net. Hegarty was lucky to turn it. Corner kick.

21' Paul Porter is hit with a yellow card for I don't know what. The free kick is taking place just at the top of the box. Cahill lines up for the kick and shoots, his shot bends just right and goes in goal. Hegarty was left flat on his feet on this one. Barnstaple is up 1-0.

23' Pritchard places a low, smooth pass to Woods who moves in to towards the goal and fires almost point blank. His shot is blocked and it's out for a corner.

30' Murray shoots from the top of the box and just misses to the right of the goal.

57' Danvers has a clean shot and he hits it weakly going to the right of the goal.

74' Rungratsamee leads Wakeman who dribbles openly down the field. His shot is challenged and he barely misses the goal to the left.

A disappointing loss in a game that was very winnable for the Downers. When you get a few players that haven't fit within the squad for match conditions it hurts the team. There were so many missed passes it was not funny. Joel told the boys at the end that they did not perform good enough to get the win and need to seriously step it up in league matches.

The Goal of the Match is the only goal of the game. A Barnstaple shot.

With injuries and penalties comes a chance to shake things up and get the talent we have out on the field at the same time. It's shift to the 3-4-3.

GK Rusling
D Porter / Shelton / Tooth
M Woods / Thomas / Gray / Morris
ST Danvers / Rungratsamee / Pritchard

Subs: Hegarty / Wright / Lever / Wakeman / Hobbs

Hobbs will be seeing playing time, just not starting minutes this week. Dawlish runs a 4-4-2 and they are picked to win this match by sky bet but the Non-League has it even.

Match Time

6' Creany of Dawlish hits a nice soft pass to Vansom who volleys the shot over the net.

14' Danvers gives a great pass to Rungratsamee who breaks free of his defender. He strikes it towards goal and it hits the wood work. Pritchard is in on the rebound and gets his head on it and Danvers loses the aerial challenge to Knight who clears it out.

26' Vicary gives to Emati-Emati and he rushes in, Rusling cuts it off and forces the shot wide.

30' Vicary lets a shot go and Rusling turns it. The team will shift back to their old formation of the 4-1-2-1-2.

46' Vicary gets underneath a long pass and out runs the defense sending it into the net. Dawlish is now up 1-0.

69' Another counter from Dawlish puts Vicary into the position to score. It is sent in beautifully. Dawlish is now up 2-0.

74' Danvers receives a soft pass from Gray at the half circle, he spins and shoots, striking it cleanly from there and it screams into the net. Goal! Odd Down closes the gap. Dawlish is up 2-1.

77' Creaney of Dawlish sends a crossing pass right into the 6m box and Vicary goes down for a sliding kick, Wright goes over the top, the ball reflects off of Wright and into the goal past Rusling...it's an own goal! Dawlish goes back up by 2, score is 3-1.

88' 3 corner kicks in a row by Dawlish. All happened to be turned away, one of them was a point blank shot at the net Pritchard managed to block.

91' Rungratsamee sends one to goal from 25m out and barely misses.

Yeah, the Downers were thoroughly dominated. Initially the thought was because of the 3-4-3, but even shifting to the familiar formation it got even worse. This was not a good game at all for the team. Morale is starting to dip, it needs to pick up and pick up quick. This team can't afford a woe is me approach.

The Goal of the Match shockingly is Danvers goal

What a rough week. Not only are the Downers beat up, Justin Pritchard is offered a contract from Boldmere, an honest to goodness he is going to make $35/wk contract, he get's his dream of being paid to play.

The FA Cup Fourth Round Draw happens and Boreham Wood is drawn, a Blue Square Bet South Team. It's making for a rough week.

Odd Down Lineup:

GK Rusling
D Morris / Smith / Shelton / Metcalfe
DM Wright
M Hobbs / Woods
AM Thomas
ST Rungratsamee / Danvers

Subs: Hegarty / Wright / Bentham / Porter / Wakeman / Cowan / Tooth

Boreham run a 4-1-4-1 and are major odds on favorites to win this match.

Match Time

9' Neal Shelton is called for a penalty in the box. Noto nails the penalty kick for Boreham and they take the lead 1-0.

27' Thomas has a shot at goal from a free kick and misses just wide.

51' A lot of movement opens a run by Rungratsamee and his shot goes way wide.

58' Boreham's Charge has run and when he shoots from the top of the box it goes just wide of the goal.

68' Rungratsamee scores on a volley! No wait, it's called back due to offsides. Damn, this hurts.

78' Several shots by Boreham in the net are blocked and deflected by the defense and they finally clear it out.

87' Hobbs takes a shot from the top of the box and misses it.

Both of the assistants wanted Thomas removed from the team, there was a private chat with him that told him he needed to step up and he pushed back and Joel punched back and Thomas walked out and played a great game.

A 1-0 loss isn't anything to be upset about, especially against a team that is 3 divisions above the team. The boys played their heart out and only lost to a referee calling a BS call and Joel will let it be known.

The Goal of the Match is the only goal, the one by Boreham, a PK and I will not upload it.

Several U18's were called up to the senior squad to replace some of the talent that is under performing.

Coaches are saying let Morris and Thomas go and I'm sticking to my guns, they helped us get to where we are, we don't dump players because they under perform.

Players well receive 1 week off of training, they have to get into game shape fast.

A cup game against Bath is coming up as well.

11/09/10 - Bath - Somerset County FA Premier Cup (Away)

Bath City FC of the Blue Square Bet Premier is welcoming the Downers into Twerton Park. In all sense and essence, Odd Down should lose this match. Going into this match, a lot of backups will see playing time as the League and promotion is more important now than the county cup.

Odd Down Lineup:

GK Rusling
D Wright / Porter / Tooth / Metcalfe
DM Gonsalves
M Bentham / Murray
AM Thomas
ST Hooper / Danvers

Subs: Hegarty / Shelton / Cowan / Wakeman / Smith

Bath runs a 4-4-2 and the Downers are definite dogs in this game.

Match Time

2' Bath's Marenghi is quickly around the defense and makes a shot just going wide.

5' Cantham hits a cross and it is barely missed.

19' Danvers gets a deep pass and he is underneath it. Bath's defender chases him down and gets just enough of the shot to make the ball slow down before the net. Danvers had the keeper beat!

21' Bath had the corner kick floater and the point blank shot where Rusling made the save and Wright cleared it from the zone.

22' Danvers freezes and is stuffed at the goaline of the box and the ball is stolen from him and cleared.

23' Marenghi had the Downers defense beat but Rusling made an amazing save.

42' Rollo with an amazing centering pass to Marenghi and his header just misses the goal.

46' Danvers gets a nice leading pass from Murray and his shot is turned away by the Bath keeper. Corner kick.

50' A clean crossing pass to Taylor for Bath almost breaks the scoring open but Rusling makes an amazing save.

57' Danvers gets a great lead pass into the lower right base of the box and his centering pass is low and in front of the goal and a streaking Wakeman volleys it into goal! Odd Down is up 1-0! Odd Down is up!

60' Roll sends a great cross from the corner, Serrant heads it in off the wood work, the ball bounces down and hits Rusling and goes in...it's counted as an own goal...game is tied...

68' A horrible attempt to clear the ball from the box by Bantham almost gave up a goal. Rusling saves it again.

72' A crossing corner gives Bath their 2nd goal. Bath up 2-1

76' A misplayed ball by Rusling ends up with Bath scoring another. Bath up 3-1.

78' Danvers misses his shot.

91' Wakemans steal almost ends up in the net.

Bath pretty much controlled the game and did as they wanted. however to be in it into the second half was great, to go up when we did was even better. To lose by 2 with a tired, injury riddled team and a bunch of U18's starting was shocking in a good way.

Goal of the Match is from Bath - Header from Connolly in the 73rd minute.

GK Rusling
D Morris / Shelton / Hogarth / Metcalfe
DM Elliot
M Woods / Murray
AM Thomas
ST Rungratsamee / Danvers

Match Time

11' Bittons Leach receives a yellow card

22' Rungratsamee gets an open shot from the top of the box. It misses to the left of the goal.

The turning point in this game? It was moving Woods from the midfield up to the striker spot, bringing Hobbs on and benching Danvers. Woods proved that he should be in the striker rotation with his performance today.

The new guys ended rated 6.60 (Hogarth) and 6.90 (Elliot) and handled themselves well with the team. It will take a bit to get them to fit in, but its been a boost already.

It was a much needed win for the Downers as their morale was starting to wane.

The Goal of the Match was the header by Woods.

11/17/10 - Willand - Away

Injury Update - James Gibb is close to returning to full fitness, Aaron Baldwin and Lucas Banton should be ready to go by December 4th. Joe Johnson is the only long term still without a date set.

Odd Down Lineup

GK Hegarty
D Morris / Tooth / Hogarth Metcalf
DM Elliot
M Hobbs / Murray
AM Thomas
ST Rungratsamee / Woods

Subs: Rusling / Wright / Cowan / Danvers / Porter

Willand is running a 4-5-1 and the are picked as the dogs for the match. It will be tough but hopefully the boys will pull off the win.

Match Time

8' Willand's Stamp is on a breakaway and the Downer defense force him to take a poor shot and he misses.

28' Stamp receives a card for tripping.

39' Woods receives a pass into the alley from Murray, takes it into the box and strikes it home for the goal! Odd Down is up 1-0.

41' Stuart Elliot receives a yellow card for tripping Stamp.

46' Rungratsamee is caught offsides as he sends his shot towards goal.

Half-Time: Thomas is playing horribly and is subbed by Cowan and we will see how that effects the game.

48' Hogarth misplays the ball and Stamp gets it, the lucky thing was Metcalfe coming from the side and Hegarty cutting down the shooting lane and forcing Stamps shot to miss the net.

62' Murray receives a pass from Rungratsamee and he dribbles for a couple and then kicks a powerful shot from the middle of the half circle and beats the keeper. GOAL! Odd Down goes up 2-0.

72' Murray is left unchallenged and pushes the ball into the right side of the box, in about the mid area, his shot just misses the net.

74' Wannell receives the corner kick and blasts it towards the goal. Hegarty makes the save.

81' With all the subs used, Woods goes down with an injury and Odd Down is forced to go with a man down.

85' The line judge makes the call! Not even the referee and the penalty happens in the box and it's Morris that committed the foul. Stamp lines up for the penalty kick and he blasts it into the net. Odd Down is still up 2-1.

Ben Woods has proven in the past two matches he is a better striker than midfielder and with Danvers and Rungratsamee playing poorly and Gibb close to healthy, we will have a log jam at the striker spot. But then again, Woods did take an injury this match and we need to see how long he is out.

The Goal of the Match was Woods and the first goal of the match.

Not much to say other than the Downers should be ready to put this team away, they have done it once already. Trying to get some rest to the starters and avoid injuries.

Odd Down Lineup:

D Wright / Porter / Tooth / Metcalfe
DM Gray
M Hobbs / Cowan
AM Thomas

I wouldn't call this a rough game, but I wouldn't call it a great game. The Downers received their 3 points from the win, but it wasn't pretty. The lack of cohesion was apparent in the game. Rungratsamee and Tooth both picked up their first senior goals this match (league goals).

Injuries are starting to clear up and some players who have been getting PT due to the injuries will be sent back down to the reserves.

Goal of the Match was the Welton Rovers goal.

A decent game. The score should have been higher but Sherborne basically went into a defensive shell to stop shots and offense. The goal in the 91st minute is upsetting because Rusling was pitching the clean sheet.

The Goal of the Match was Gibbs goal.

Not happy with the bulk of the play. The guys were tired, knew that going in. Was expecting more than what happened. This game shouldn't have been 3-2. There shouldn't have been heroics needed by Danvers. He did step up, and hopefully the assistants will lay off about dropping him.

The Goal of the Match was Danvers game winner in the 82nd

What a great start to the game. Street wasn't expecting a quick tempo as we have been playing a slow paced game of late. This tempo shift caught them off card initially. Once they corrected they managed to keep the ball away from us for a lot. This was a great win and the team was informed they had a sensational performance.

The Goal of the Match was the 1st goal of the game by Rungratsamee.

Weekly Notes

The quick goal by Rungratsamee last week, the one in the 19th second was a record for fastest goal in the league.

Banton has resumed training after being out for 7 weeks due to a strained knee.

New Signing for the midfield, Joseph Boakye from Ghana.

Match Notes

My smack talking that was made in the press this week turned into the fact I think this match is supposed to be a walk in the park and it wasn't anything close to that.

Boakye will come off the bench. With Baldwin healthy we might see some players shift down to the reserve squad. Wright is called up to be a sub for defense with Hogarth serving his suspension.

Corsham runs a 4-4-2 and has had difficulties on the road. Because of this, the Downers are picked to be winners at home.

Odd Down Lineup
GK Rusling
D Morris / Porter / Tooth / Metcalfe
DM Elliott
M Hobbs / Murray
AM Woods
ST Rungratsamee / Gibb

Subs: Hengarty / Boakye / Banton / Baldwin / Wright

Match Time

9' James Gibb is injured and the Downers are forced to sub quickly. In comes Baldwin, about 51' earlier than planned.

19' A quick pass from Hobbs to Rungratsamee has him alone with the keeper. The keeper blocks the shot and turns it into a corner kick.

24' Stuart Elliot is knocked out with an injury. Joseph Boakye is subbed for Elliot and moved up into the MF, the team has now shifted to a 4-3-1-2.

28' Hobbs leads Woods into the box and Woods sends this one home to the back of the net! GOAL! Odd Down is now up 1-0

37' Kamara lines up for the free kick for Corsham. It's a great pass towards Fullam who is unmarked and heads it into the goal. GOAL! Game is tied 1-1

45' Fullam receives a low crossing pass from Heath. Rusling is able to turn the shot and Porter clears it for a corner.

Half: Rungratsamee was injured at the end of the half and has to come off. They are attacking our strikers and pounding them. Woods moves up to Striker and Banton will replace Rungratsamee. This sucks, we have used up our subs and the defense will be worn out by the end of the game.

46' Hobbs has another great leading pass, this one for Baldwin who takes it into the box and shoots from about the spot, sending it low and into the left corner of the net. GOAL! Odd Down is up 2-1

55' Banton receives a long pass from Metcalfe. He spins and makes a quick pass to Baldwin who volleys it right into the goal. GOAL! That is Baldwin's second of the game! Odd Down is up 3-1

66' Kamara has a corner kick and sends it to Murtagh who was unmarked and pushes it into the goal. GOAL! Corsham closes within 1, 3-2

69' Banton sends a great cross from the corner and Tooth heads it. It just goes over the cross bar.

71' Baldwin hits Woods on a great pass. Woods is fighting with his defender moving the ball towards the net. He stutters, setting his defender off the mark and fires from about 28 m out and it screams by the keeper for a goal. GOAL! Odds Down moves up 4-2

74' Porter takes Wickham down, Colliding with him in the air. The referee issues Porter a yellow card for rough play.

83' Boakye heads a pass to Woods, leading him enough to get in close but his shot sails on him.

86' Scott Metcalfe is hit with a yellow card for taking down a Corsham player.

89' Hobbs is injured and has to come off. This will leave the Downers down a man with 3' of injury time.

91' The first yellow card of the match is issued to Corsham, Wilkes was the player that was hit with it.

92' A free kick from Tooth bounces off the wood work and Boakye hits the rebound into goal! Wait, Boakye is hit with offsides? I'm confused on this one.

Match Analysis
What a brutal game. I don't think Corsham was there to play footy, it looked more like a mugging the entire game. They were tackling fierce, cleats up and 4 injuries in one game is proof to that.

Baldwin is healthy that is good. Woods does quite well as a striker. Boakye coming in and adding his flair was decent. We will have to see how bad our injuries are.

Goal of the Match was Baldwins goal at the 46' mark.

Weekly Notes

Physio comes back, James Gibb damaged his spine in the game and will be out for at least 2 to 3 months. Stuart Elliot tore up his knee and will be out for 3 months.

Joe Johnson is back to full health.

Match Notes

The team may be shifting into some uncommon formations when subs come in. But for now, the will be running the 4-1-2-1-2.

Bristol is running in a 3-4-3 formation and is very attack oriented. They have played poorly on the road lately and since it is a home game for the Downers, they are picked to win.

It's a snowy, blustery day.

Odd Down Lineup

GK Rusling
D Morris / Tooth / Hogarth / Metcalfe
DM Wright
M Boakye / Murray
AM Woods
ST Baldwin / Rungratsamee

Subs: Hegarty / Hobbs / Banton / Danvers / Porter

Match Time

14' Metcalfe plays give and go with several of the Odd Down players up the right flank, finally he sets it up to send a through pass to Runratsamee. The defender nicked it and set Rungratsamee out of position, he sends it through to Baldwin who volleys it into the net! GOAL! Odd Down is up 1-0

18' Baldwin takes it across the top of the box and shoots, missing the goal.

40' Chris Tooth is issued a yellow card for holding a Britsol player.

41' A great pass to Beech was for not as he was whistled for offsides.

Half: No needed subs yet at the half and the talk was set towards encouraging the players to keep it up.

54' A misplayed ball by Murray has McGrath set up wide open in the box. Quick thinking by Tooth creates a corner kick.

55' McGrath sends a great pass from the corner to Ngwa and he volleys the shot over the top.

59' Metcalfe sends a long pass down the right flank to Rungratsamee who rushes to the ball, breaks free and send the ball to the left of the goal.

62' Woods moves the ball, to the top left corner of the box and it shoots for the upper left corner of the goal and it sinks in. GOAL! Odd Down is up 2-0.

70' Ngwa has a break away run and he centers it, the pass is partially blocked but Bird manages to get his head on the ball. Rusling covers it and gets the save. Woods is moved to the striker position and Banton is subbed in for Baldwin and is the AM.

79' Rungratsamee is worn out and Danvers is subbed for him. Hobbs is subbed for Boakye.

82' Wright sends a great cross from his free kick and Hogarth heads it towards goal and the Bristol keeper makes an amazing save and turns it out. Corner kick.

84' Another great cross off of a free kick to Hogarth and a header. This time right to the keeper.

85' Ngwa was wide open moving into the box. His shot caught Rusling out of position but it hits the wood work and Hogarth clears it.

87' Ngwa is left running for a long pass and Tooth takes him down in the box. He is lucky to not get a card. Hiner lines up for the penalty kick and he boots it over the net. He let the moment get to him!

Match Analysis
Not a bad game in some nasty weather. The possession was pretty lopsided in favor of the Downers up until about the 80th minute. That is when Bristol went into overload mode to attack.

Baldwin and Woods score again and it is definitely great to be able to reload at striker without missing a beat with losing Gibb.

This was the last match for the Downers of the year. next match is on New Years day.

Goal of the match was the first goal by Baldwin

Weekly Notes

Trying to stave off bids from higher division teams looking to poach our players to secure their spot.

Match Notes
Wakeman was called up from the reserves as a just in case move. Gray was called up because he is going to be the new DM for a while.

Wells runs a 4-2-4 and are picked to be major underdogs in this match against the Downers.

34' Banton moves the ball and is quickly around his defender. His shot hits the side of the net.

Match Analysis

This loss is a tough one to swallow. We pretty much dominated this game and to have a win given to them by a PK hurts and Joel will probably be reprimanded, fined or suspended after this press conference. 5 yellow cards to us and nothing to Wells smells like home cooking.

As we all know what the only goal was, I will not upload it.

Weekly Notes

So Joel receives a stern warning from FA and the board to keep his gob shut about the officiating.

Right now Porter, Morris, and Boakye are bringing interest in from other clubs. Harrogate Railway ponied up an offer on Woods, and the Down quickly countered.

Players injured Gibb, Elliot and youth Luciani, Bentham.

Match Notes
The players are pissed and want to make up for their piss poor performance against Wells. They do need to do it as Bishop Sutton is 5th and Odd Down is tied for 1st and hold onto it because of GD. The last meeting between these teams the Downers won 3-0.

Bishop Sutton are a bit taller and stronger than our squad so that is going to have the Downers keep the passes down.

Bishop Sutton runs a 4-5-1 defensive lineup and the match is predicted to go either way.

Odd Down Lineup

GK Rusling
D Morris / Porter / Hogarth / Metcalfe
DM Hobbs
M Boakye / Murray
AM Banton
ST Rungratsamee / Woods

Subs: Hegarty / Wright / Cowan / Baldwin / Tooth

Match Time

16' Bishop Sutton lulls the Down defense to sleep with back and force passing then they send a deep one for Sperring to run under. He gets the ball, takes it into the box and lobs his shot over a rushing out Rusling. It's a goal! GOAL! Bishop Sutton is up 1-0

26' Bishop Sutton's Baker is issued a yellow card for tripping Murray.

32' A corner kick straight to Bishop Sutton's Eastwood goes off the head, off the wood work off the back of the diving keeper and into goal. GOAL! Bishop Sutton is now up 2-0

35' Woods shoots from the top of the circle and misses.

39' Sperring receives a low pass from Baker. His volley is blocked by Rusling but he gets the rebound and puts it into the net. GOAL! Bishop Sutton is up 3-0.

Half: Rusling is being replaced by Hegarty. The players were told in no certain order they were horrible in the 1st half and that more is expected of them in the 2nd.

45' Hogarth sends a deep pass to Woods who has his lane cut off in the box. He still shoots smartly and hits a Bishop Sutton player to get the corner.

46' Corner Kick from Banton is sent to Hogarth whose header goes over the net.

49' Woods receives a pass in the box, spins and shoots. Furniss turns the ball out and it's a corner kick.

56' Baker receives a great pass from Hawkins. His header is blocked by Hegarty and cleared out by Metcalfe.

59' A long pass from Morris down the left flank has Rungratsamee and he sends the cross to a streaking Woods who volleys it into the net. GOAL! Odd Down scores and bring it to 3-1. Banton is subbed by Baldwin and Woods steps back to play the attacking mid.

73' A sub is called. Wright comes in for Boakye. He will move to the defensive mid and Hobbs will step up to the mid.

Match Analysis

A disappointing performance by the Downers and especially their defense. Hogarth was atrocious and he let everything and everyone by him. We held possession yet could not score when we had chances. Bishop Sutton wanted this one more than our guys did. They were informed it was a disappointing performance.

Goal of the Match was Bishop Suttons 17th minute goal by Sperring.

Great read and sorry I am late to the game, but man I need to stop reading and start playing the game myself. :-) All of these FM stories are amazing and really do help promote the game. I just hope that I can figure it all out.

Thanks! The best piece of advice I can give you is to take it one step at a time. Jump into it and use the assistant to guide you initially, then you will get the hang of it. It took me a little bit to get there but I love this game, it's very deep and drags you into the game.

Match Analysis
What a back and forth match. The players on both sides were physically exhausted. They ran a total of 138 km's. Odd Down were lucky to have stopped the barrage of shots and attacks coming from Dawlish. Rusling played great.

When it came down to PKs there was slight arrangement as the second strongest PK shooter was moved to the 4th spot for a potential scenario of winning the game due to missed shots. What a move by Joel Sutton.

Woods has 2 offers from other clubs, Frickley and Durham plus Odd Down saying we want you to stay.

The big win came when Joel contacted Birmingham City about a youth player they have, Scotsman Fraser Kerr, he is a 19 yr old Defenseman and when they said he is available for loan, it was kind of like, well could we loan him for the rest of the season. Birmingham City came back, why the hell not....We now just have to convince him to play for us.

Hegarty, Porter, Morris, Murray and Boakye have also drawn a bunch of interest. If we can keep this team together before the end of the season I will be shocked.

Match Notes
From scouting and playing against Ilfracombe previously we know they do not handle the 4-4-2 that well so that will be the tactic going into the game. Looking to hit and score a lot of goals this match. The guys are a little tired after the last match.

The last match was a 0-0 draw against Ilfracombe and we need to get the 3 points.

Ilfracombe comes out in the 4-1-4-1 formation and the game is predicted to end in a draw. It is also a cold snowy day.

Odd Down Lineup

GK Hegarty
D Wright / Porter / Hogarth / Tooth
M Cowan / Hobbs / Murray / Banton
S Woods / Rungratsamee

Subs: Rusling / Metcalfe / Morris / Baldwin / Boakye

Match Time

10' Great crossing pass from Banton in a free kick on the lower right corner. Hogarth volleys it and it is blocked and cleared.

11' Cowan sends it in to Woods, his volley misses the net.

16' Tooth sends it in to Rungratsamee and he shoots and it is blocked. It doesn't matter though as he is whistled for offsides.

23' Strudwick passes to Adams who shoots and it sails over the goal.

30' Banton sends a great cross from the left corner. Murray stretches with his leg attempting the volley and trips up a defender and is called for the foul.

33' Hobbs passes to Banton who is wide open heading into the box, he must have been excited because his shot went to the right of an open net.

Half: Baldwin subs in for Woods who is exhausted. The team is told that they can win this match.

46' Goodfellow passes to Davis who shoots from 30m out and misses.

51' Powell fires at goal from the top right corner of the box. Hegarty was lucky to block. He turns it out and it is a corner.

52' Peter Adams is issued a yellow card for his aggressive tackle on Banton.

55' Hobbs has a shot blocked by a defender he gets the rebound and sends it back but it is saved by the keeper.

63' Morris is in for Banton and Cowan moves to the MR.

66' Tooth sends a great pass into the center. Morris' header hits the wood work and the rebound is cleared behind the goal. Corner kick.

69' Hobbs sends a good pass to Cowan and Cowans shot is blocked and there is a scramble for the ball in the box and Cowan is whistled for a penalty.

75' Boakye comes in for Hobbs.

81' Morris brings the ball in from the left side and his shot goes wide.

92' Cowan picks up an injury and is off the field. Odd Down is down a man.

94' Rungratsamee is taken down in the top right corner of the box, the Downers feel like it was penalty and the play continues on.

Match Analysis

A tough pill to swallow here. The Downers had the bulk of the chances here and they could not convert on them. They were tired from the last match and were just not good enough against Ilfracombe. There wasn't a need to berate them, they played their hearts out so sympathy was the route that went here.

Weekly Notes

Woods received bids this past week from Frickley, Durham and Gosport. Odd Down countered with an offer as well. The Downers can't pay him, but he is being promised he is a key player.

Gibb and Elliot still are not 100%

Match Notes
Wellington runs a 4-4-1-1 and this game should be a pretty fairly even game. There is nothing big as far as changes for the match except Tooth is not involved this week.

A couple of milestones here...Rusling hasn't allowed a goal in 216 consecutive minutes and Rungratsamee hasn't scored in 601 minutes.

Odd Down Lineup

GK Rusling
D Morris / Porter / Hogarth / Metcalfe
DM Gray
M Boakye / Murray
AM Woods
ST Rungratsamee / Baldwin

Subs: Hegarty / Wright / Banton / Danvers / Hobbs

Match Time

1' Deeks shoots and Rusling blocks. Metcalfe clears for corner.

2' Porter is issued a yellow card for tripping.

12' Whelan shoots towards goal and it goes over.

16' Deeks receives a pass and shoots, Rusling blocks but it doesn't matter as Deeks was offside.

24' Morris sends a floating pass into the center and Baldwin is streaking in and heads it into the net. Goal! Odd Down is up 1-0

29' Dugdale with a centering pass to Jones who volleys and his shot is blocked by Morris and Rusling scoops it up.

31' Murray goes for the tackle and cleanly steals the ball from Brunt. Brunt turns around and attacks Murray, elbowing him in the face....RED CARD! Wellington is now down a player.

Half: No changes are made, the team is encouraged to go out there and keep it up, Rungratsamee is pulled aside and it is let known his performance is disappointing.

47' In a counter attack from a goal kick, Rungratsamee is left one on one with the keeper. He shoots and the shot is blocked and cleared.

60' Rungratsamee is subbed by Banton. Woods moves up to striker and Banton moves to the AM spot. Danvers is subbed in for an injured Baldwin.

61' Murray shoots for goal from 25m out and it just skims the cross bar and goes over.

79' Keith Wright is subbed in for Gray.

86' On a botched header to clear a centering pass from the box, Wright collects and brings it up to the top of the box from about 20m and shoots. It screams into the net between the keeper and the wood. GOAL! Odd Down is up 2-0

89' Metcalfe is injured and has to go off. It is now an even man match.

Match Analysis
What a tightly called game. Once we realized how the ref was going to call the penalties and went lightly with the tackles. I don't know what got into Brunt on Wellington's side but that was a brutal elbow and Murray might have a broken nose from it.

Unfortunately, there wasn't the ability to take advantage of the man down until the match was almost over.

The win was much needed and we will have to see where we land now and where Dawlish is at.

Goal of the Match was Baldwin and the first goal of the game.

Quick question for those following...do you like the youtube vids of the goal of the match for each match? Or does that bog the thread down for loading?

I would advise only posting video when a really exception or important goal has been scored.

2/12/11 - Brislington - Home

Weekly Notes

Gosport, Durham and Frickley are continuing to bug Woods and the Downers are continuing to counter.

Match Notes
In the prior meeting, Odd Down won 2-1. Brislington is looking to draw even with this. Brislington is running a 4-1-2-2-1 formation and is set to attack from the get go. They have also traveled poorly and because of this they are picked to be the underdog in this match.

Rusling has not conceded a goal in 306 minutes of soccer. If Danvers is brought on he will have appeared in 25 career league matches.

Odd Down Lineup

GK Rusling
D Morris / Porter / Hogarth / Metcalfe
DM Hobbs
M Boakye / Murray
AM Banton
ST Woods / Baldwin

Subs: Hegarty / Tooth / Cowan / Danvers / Wright

Match Time

5' McGloshan with a shot on goal for Brislington misses.

13' Murray shoots on goal and it sails over the bar.

26' Baldwin is the recipient of a long pass by Woods. He has to rush down to get under it and he does. He is one on one with the keeper, he shoots and the keeper barely gets a hand on it and it goes over the net for a corner.

30' Morris fires a shot from the top of the box and it hit's post, rebounds off the keeper and into the net. GOAL! Odd Down is up 1-0.

Half: Baldwin received card as did Hobbs close to the end of the half. Baldwin is subbed out by Danvers and the goal is to hope Hobbs can last with the card until about the 65th minute. The team is encouraged to keep it up.

66' Tooth is subbed in for Metcalfe and Wright is subbed in for Hobbs. Murray has a yellow card and will have to risk it for the rest of the match.

69' A deep free kick by Wright is sent to Hogarth who heads his shot over the goal.

74' Banton steals the throw in and quickly passes it to Woods. He led him enough to get Woods ahead of the defense and he shoots, scoring from about the topof the box! GOAL! Odd Down is up 2-0!

2/19/11 - Longwell Green Away

Weekly Notes
The positive news of the week is that the Downers were able to get a commitment from Woods as he had a barrage of offers again from Frickley, Durham and Leamington.

Stuart Elliott has returned to full training as well after being out for 2 months dues to Torn Knee Ligaments.

Match Notes
This is the second meeting between these clubs this season. The first meeting had Odd Down take the match with a 3-1 win.

Elliott if needed will come in as a sub as he still is not at 100%. Gibb and Woods will be starting at the striker spot which should give the Downers some power up front.

Longwell Green runs a 4-1-4-1 defensive type of formation. They are picked to struggle against the Downers.
Odd Down Lineup

GK Rusling
D Morris / Porter / Hogarth / Metcalfe
DM Gray
M Boakye / Murray
AM Banton
ST Woods / Gibb

Subs: Hegarty / Wright / Elliott / Baldwin / Hobbs

Match Time

12' Hogarth misplayed a clear out from a long pass to Tehrani. Tehrani took the pass and dribbled to the box, he was converged upon by the defense which forced him to shoot. His shot went wide.

21' Hogarth receives a great kick from the corner by Banton. His header is sent wide.

28' Woods has a great shot after a nice low pass from Murray. Woods shot hits the top of the wood work and is cleared. Boakye scoops up the pass by Gray and sends it into goal and it is caught.

33' The Longwell keeper misplays a pass and Gibb swoops in to the ball as he kicks it Anderson sticks his foot out and deflects it out behind the goal. It's a corner kick.

34' Murray's shot goes wide.

Half: Banton is struggling and isn't playing well, so Woods will drop back to AM and Baldwin will come in for Banton and play ST.

53' A long pass from Porter to Gibb has him scrambling to the ball in the box. He has the ball and Obi slides in taking out Gibb's legs. Penalty is called and the referee points to the spot. Woods with the shot and he sends it home! GOAL! Odd Down is up 1-0

58' Boakye sends a great pass to Hogarth from the corner and Hogarth's header goes off just the top of the wood work.

59' A pass from Metcalfe to Baldwin sees his diving header go just wide.

61' Boakye rifles a shot from the top of the half circle and it is barely turned by the keeper. Corner Kick.

77' Elliott comes in for Gray and Hobbs comes in for Woods and becomes a 3rd midfielder.

Match Analysis
Not a pretty game as the Downers controlled the ball a lot and had the shots. They could not generate anything in close as the Longwell Green defense clamped down.

Woods played great until he wore himself out. Elliot came in and took a knock with time winding down, so we do know he isn't 100% yet.

There could have been more made out of this match but the 3 points are what counts.

Man of the Match

DR Jack Morris (7.6)
