Week 1 - After renegotiations and cuts, I'm left with $13.1 million and a 41 man roster. Week 2 - No news. Week 3 - T Darrel Branch, a promising 5th year UFA, signs on to be our #4 Tackle. CB Eric Green signs on to compete for the starting CB spot. Week 4 - My biggest target of the offseason, S Ronald Bartell, signs with us for $17.78 million over 4 years. At 67/67, he'll be the best defensive playmaker on the team. Also signing are backup candidates CB Ellis Hobbs and G Scott Young. Week 5 - Nothing Week 6 - WR Chad Jackson is another weapon to hopefully take some heat off of Haag. QB Stefan Lefors will back up Haag. Free Agency done. On to the draft...

The Draft
This is the last year where I suffer from my disastrous trade to the Cowboys. 3(17) - Daniel Benzer, QB, Boston College I didn't really need much at other position, so I figured I'd take a stab at this guy who has some interesting potential. 4(17) - Doug Whitfield, C, Purdue A Very Underrated player. I like to go for Center in the draft, because you get terrific value out of them. This guy is a 2nd round talent. 5(17) - Lionel Lowe, G, Minnesota State Hayden tells me this guy will be really good. 6(17) - Perry Young, T, Fresno State Another underrated prospect. One of these guys will have to pan out eventually, right? My roster is full, so I make a strange deal. I give my 7th and next year's 3rd to Cleveland for their 3rd. Reasoning is they sucked last year and will be relying on a rookie QB this year, so I expect my 3rd to be alot later than theirs. And I needed to get rid of that pick somehow.

Once again, we have high expectations. The Preseason power ratings put us at 3rd in the league. Unfortunately, I think we will only go as far as Haag takes us.

Another disappointing season. We started off 0-3 only to win 7 of our next 8 as Haag finally put together some great performances and Lefors did well in backup duty when Haag was out for 3 weeks. Sadly, we fell apart at the end once again, losing 4 of our last 5 and missing the playoffs.

2008 1st Round - LT Greg Buckner
Buckner is rated 65/65 and has been a 3 year starter for the Cowboys. He's mainly a pass blocker (maxed out at 95) and average at everything else. 2009 1st Round - DE Dexter Breeman Dexter is 51/61 has played backup in his first two years. He managed 6 sacks as a backup. Doesn't look like he will start very soon. The Cowboys are loaded at DE and just franchised their starter, who got 15.5 sacks last year. 2010 1st Round - S Andre Keyes Keyes looks to be a top notch player, probably one of the best Safeties in the league in the years to come. he started 7 games as a rookie and picked off 3 passes. He's rated 59/74 and should start alongside Roy Williams (86/86) to make th ebest Safety tandem in the league. 2010 3rd Round - DT Rufus Lindsay Lindsay is rated 44/53 and is an good run stopper but doesn't show much potential to be more than that. If he maxes out, he will be an average starter or a solid backup. With all of this, The Cowboys have still managed to suck. They've done a good job with my picks, but have made some baffling decisions of their own. Brady Quinn has been injury prone so they took a QB with #2 overall last year who is currently rated 23/52, while Quinn is healthy now and at 35/73.

Offseason
*G Carlisle Cooper, DE Jason Taylor, and DT Vonnie Holliday have all retired. That's three starters I will have to replace. *Other league retirements include RB Willis McGahee, LB Lavar Arrington, S Lawyer Milloy, LB Ray Lewis, RB Brian Westbrook, CB Champ Bailey, WR Reggie Wayne, LB Tedy Bruschi, WR Torry Holt, WR Hines Ward. *I'm able to keep both of my coordinators without much of a fight. *We have the 3rd lowest ticket prices in the league, so it's time for an increase. *6th round LT Perry Young is the most promising of last year's draftees, so I send him to the summer league. *I go into Free Agency with the following priorities: Guard, Tackle, Defensive End, and Defensive Tackle.

Week 1 - Haag has two years left, so I look into a potential extension. He wants $39.3 million over 6 years. I decide to wait until next year to make a determination. Among people I give extensions to are K Lawrence Tynes, P Donnie Jones, CB Ellis Hobbs, S Jason Allen, and OLB EJ Henderson. I talk to Chambers but he wants way too much. When done, I have 36 players signed and $18.7 million to spend. Week 2 - No offers yet, but Wes Welker gets several offers from other teams. I like Wes, but I can't justify paying to keep him when I have Calvin Johnson, Chad Jackson, and Chris Chambers. Week 3 - G Kasey Studdard signs for two years. He's scouted 56/62 and should start this season. This signing is especially important since superstar G Jeno James is in his 13th year and will retire soon. Also signed DT Justin Harrell who is rated 61/61 with an 88 in run stopping. He'll be a starter for the next 4 years. Week 4 - OLB David Pollack signs for a 5 year deal. Pollack is coming off a terrific season and I expect him to make a great tandem with EJ Henderson. S Michael Griffin is another nice pickup. He's rated 63/63 with a 99 in Interceptions. I also tried to get 15th year T Orlando Pace, but he turned down my offer and went elsewhere. I'll have to look for a Tackle in the draft. Weeks 4-7 - DT Rodrique Wright goes elsewhere. I didn't try to keep him since he was listed as a Red Flag and there was another good DT target available. Not much news as I simply wait for a response to my remaining two offers. Week 8 - DE Justin Smith signs a two year deal to replace Jason Taylor. Week 9 - DT Claude Wroten is my other DT target. He's a great pass rusher who will nicely complement run stopper Harrell. At the end of Free Agency I have 42 players signed and $1.96 million in cap space left. Yikes. However, I have made some key signing that should help us, and also the Haag draft nightmare is finally over. I look forward to getting my first 1st rounder in 4 years.

The draft -
1(20) Oliver Walker, T, Stanford I traded out of #15 because I didn't like the top guys available and figured Walker would still be ready here. I got a 3rd round pick to move down to 20 and still get him. He's listed as underrated and will hopefully be ready to start immediately. 1(28) Rod Jenkins, DE, Southern Illinois I traded my 2nd round this year and a 2nd rounder next year to move up and get this guy. DE is a weak spot for me and Jenkins is listed as Very Underrated, with terrific looking bars. 3(18) Ted McConnell, T, Florida I go for another Tackle in the 3rd round. This guy is listed as Very Underrated and he could be a huge sleeper pick. 3(23) Glenn Marvel, DE, Rhode Island This guy is pure project. He's very underrated with nice looking bars. However, he is only at 19% development. If he fills out, then great. If not, then at least I have Jenkins. *Traded out of 4th due to lack of prospects. Packaged with next year's 4th and earned an extra 3rd for next year. 5(17) Wally Wolsic, G, Southern Methodist Might be able to provide depth at Guard, but not expecting much from this guy. 6(17) Marty Ernst, MLB, Arizona State Has the potential to be a terrific run stopper. 7(17) Sedrick Dreiser, DT, Western Michigan Could be a good situational pass rusher.

Late Free agency
Lots of holdouts among the rookies, including another holdout from a 7th round pick. Who do these guys think they are? Luckily for me, the Rams were forced to cut a really good Tackle to make cap space for their rookies. I make room by capping out Calvin Johnson's current 4 year deal, and I sign T Alex barron to a 4 year deal. Suddenly my Offensive Line looks really strong with some great potential for the future. Coming out of camp, DE Rod Jenkins looks to be a great pickup, but I'm disappointed in how my Tackles look. Other news of note is the signing of veteran Shaun Alexander as a backup. It is unlikely he will see the field unless there is an injury. This year we are rated #1 in the preseason power rankings. Hopefully this will finally be our year.

I'll go ahead and do brief weekly summaries for this season...
Week 1 - New Jersey 28, Miami 10 Well it started off good, as Haag hooked up with Jackson for 70 yards. After a FG, we led 10-0 early. Unfortunately, our failure to convert on third down, and 3 turnovers contributed to 28 consecutive Jets points.

Week 2 - Miami 23, Dallas 9
Haag really wanted this one, as he's probably heard nothing but endless talk about the Cowboys trade. He didn't have a great game (18-28-258-1 TD-2 INT) but it was good enough. The real story of the game was undrafted FA RB Casey Snyder who had 76 yards on 8 carries.

Casey Snyder has another solid game, getting 63 yards on 10 carries. G Jeno James is out for 2 weeks, and Haag was sacked 5 times, but at least didn't throw a pick.

Very ugly game. OL gives up 6 sacks once again, and we can't get any offensive momentum going. Calvin Johnson with 13 catches, 106 yards in the losing effort.

I'm really worried about our offense this year. Haag struggles with 13-28, 175 yards, The defense had a solid effort and Ronnie Brown put up 104 yards on 26 carries.

Our defense holds Oakland to 205 total yards and the ball control offense gives us just enough for the victory. Haag had a good day, 19-26-234-0-1 INT.

Midseason Report
We are currently sitting at 6-2 and tied for 1st in the AFC East with (who else?) New England. The Jets are hanging around one game back at 5-3. We have the 2nd best defense in the league in PPG, but also the 5th worst offense in the league. I'm afraid this could bite us in the ass eventually. Haag has regressed so far this year, with a 3 TD, 7 INT 1st half performance. The bright spot? My offseason acquisitions have paid off. Undrafted Rookie FA Casey Snyder has 388 yards as a backup and DT Claude Wroten has 6.5 Sacks.

We really needed this one, as we are now 0-3 in the division. It's gonna be very hard to win the division title now. Casey Snyder has 100 yards on 13 carries. I might start him next week.

Both Lefors and Haag played in this one, but neither were effective. It may be time to give Ronnie Brown the starting job back. We have to do something to end this streak, though.

HUGE win for us. The Bengals came into the game 9-2 but we stuck it to them on their own turf. Haag had a solid game, 24-36-246-1-1 and Ronnie Brown had 70 yards in his return to the starter role. Even better? The Pats and Jets have been stuck in a slump also, and we are now in a three way tie atop the AFC East at 7-5.

Haag has one of the best games of his career, with 352yards and 3 TD's, but he loses the shootout to Eli Manning (who had 354 yards and 2 TD) The defense just didn't show up for this one. Jets won and Pats lost.

Wow. I just saw the most amazing individual performance in any FOF game I've played. Calvin Johnson had 12 catches for 304 yards and 3 TD's!! Haag ended with 376 yards and Ronnie Brown had 77 yards in a much needed victory.

And things return back to early season form, in this ugly 7-3 win. The only TD was when Randy McMichael recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. We held the Redskins to 150 total yards. Sadly, Calvin Johnson fractured his foot and will be out for 4 weeks and we have a must win game against the Pats next week.

Here's the situations. I'm gunning for my first playoff spot. If I beat the Pats, I'm in. If I lose I'm out. If I win and the Jets win, then I'm a wildcard, if the Jets lose, then I'm division champion. Under no circumstances can I get in with a loss.

Week 17 - New England at Miami
New England gets on the board first on a very easy 8 play, 73 yard drive that ahs me worried about my defense. Thankfully, Haag answers with an 8 play, 58 yard drive to tie the game at 7-7. A 39 yard Tynes FG gives us a 10-7 lead, but NEw England gets back on the board with a 50 yard FG at the half. At this point, I'm worried because New England has been moving the ball at will against my D and we've been lucky to get the points we have. The Patriots open the 2nd half with a 10 play, 52 yard drive ending in a FG for a 13-10 lead. We drive to midfield but stall and have to give the ball back. Thankfully, our defense comes up with a huge play, as MIchael Griffin intercepts a Tom Brady pass and returns it to the 7 yard line. Haag throws a 7 yard TD on the next play to put us up 17-13. Our pass rush starts to come alive and the Pats are forced to punt again. Haag gets another good drive going. He drives us down to 1st and goal on the New England 3, with 11:58 left. Haag apparently has Joey Harrington disease and is picked off in the end zone. Thankfully, our defense buckles down and forces three consecutive 3 and outs for the Pats offense, and a 12 yard Casey Snyder run for a first down puts the final nail in the Patriots coffin. We're headed to the playoffs! The Jets won so we'll be a wildcard, but it's about time we made the postseason.

Crap! I was simming the playoff game and had a crash. My last save was when there was a three way tie at 7-5 back in week 13. Not only does this erase my playoff performance, but it erases Calvin Johnson's 300 yard game.

Pretty much the same as the last sim. Week 15 - Miami 17, Buffalo 13 Calvin didn't do quite as good this time, but still had 3 catches for 81 yards. Week 16 - Miami 28, Washington 3 Dominating performance with Calvin getting 118 yards and Haag having his 2nd best game of the season (22-33-289) Week 17 - Miami 24, New England 13 We still make the playoffs as Brady tosses three picks, and Haag throws for 275 yards and a TD.

Wow! By far the best performance we had all year. The defense holds the Bengals to 147 total yards and sacked Cincy QB's 6 times, 3.5 of them by DT Claude Wroten. Haag was 17-24-239-1-1.

This was a wild one, and for a while there, it looked like we might pull off the upset. We held a 30-24 lead with less than a minute left, but the pass defense broke down and Peyton Manning threw an 87 yard TD pass. Haag followed that up with an INT returned for a TD. His final stats: 17-38, 154 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT. I seriously doubt he will play for us next year.

Peyton Manning finally wins his Superbowl ring by beating his brother Eli and the NY Giants 19-14. Gee, you think that game had any hype? Ironically, this came after Peyton's worst season as a pro. He had 3084 Yards, 11 TD, and 14 INT.

Offseason
*CB Deltha O'Neal, G Jeno James, and RB Shaun Alexander have retired. *T Oliver Walker is sent to the summer league. *Last year's 7th round holdout Sedrick Dreiser said he is re-entering the draft. Good luck, buddy. *I am over the cap, and unfortunately must cut people because of the cap bug. This will be a difficult decision. Free Agency Sadly, Ronnie Brown falls victim to the axe. He was the 2nd most expensive person on the team and his production doesn't warrant that, especially with Casey Snyder performing so well in backup duty. Other victims to the cap bug are MLB Boss Bailey, and MLB Marty Ernst. I extended contracts for K Lawrence Tynes, P Donnie Jones, CB Ellis Hobbs, OLB EJ Henderson, G Wally Wolsic, RB Casey Snyder, DE Justin Smith, and G Kasey Studdard. Not a ton of activity in FA as I didn't have much oney to play with after restructuring. I signed CB's Eric Green and Dominique Foxworth to fill out my secondary,T Bryant McKinnie for some offensive line depth, WR Steve Smith (an aging veteran, but should be good 4th WR), and MLB Matt Wilhelm. My biggest signing is FB Ernest Garcia. Cory Anderson is a 4 year starter for me and not bad, but this guy is better at 66/66 and should help the blocking. I also shuffled some draft picks away to help with cap space so I only have 1st, 4th, and 7th this year.

1(26) Bryant Giba, T, Florida
I keep trying to get a premier Tackle. This is my latest attempt. I looked for QB's, but none good were available. It will likely be the Haag show for another year. 4(22) Gary Wonders, QB, Illinois Another attempt at a late round QB. This is listed as Very underrated, has a good set of bars, and affinity with three of my leaders. 7(26) CJ Blackburn, RB, Trinity I needed a RB and he's the best one left.

Late Free Agency
I was just planning on getting roster fillers, but then I notice WR Chad Jackson is holding out, demanding more money. I check the FA list and see Andre Johnson (58/58) is available and sign him. I keep Chad on the roster. He can sit out as long as he wants, or he can play his final year. Whatever he wants.

Week 1 - Buffalo 27, Miami 14
JP Losman terrorizes us with 304 yards and 3 TD's. Haag really hurts us with 3 picks. In his first game post-Ronnie Brown, Casey Snyder showed promise with 88 yards on 17 carries.

Week 2 - Miami 13, San Francisco 10
Haag rebounds with a 300 yard performance to lead us to a narrow victory. I'll have to override the computer usage at RB, as it is trying to use DeAngelo Williams (20 carries-68 yards) instead of Casey Snyder (8 carries-52 yards).

Haag chimes in with the best performance of his career, going 21 for 28 for 338 yards and 2 TD's. Calvin Johnson gets most of the credit with 6 catches for 182 yards.

Week 4 - New England 28, Miami 3
Our Jekyll and Hyde act continues as the Patriots completely dominate us. We turn the ball over 7 times and Haag is replaced late by Lefors, who doesn't fare much better.

Week 5 - Jacksonville 37, Miami 29
Ronnie Brown gets his revenge. We cut him in the offseason and pay for it this week. He burned us with 164 yards on 21 carries and a TD. Haag moved the ball alot in this one, with 355 yards and 4 TD's, but was also picked 3 times and that proved to be our undoing.

Week 6 - Miami 37, Tennessee 11
To be fair, the Titans lost this one more than we won it. After taking an early 10-3 lead, we broke the game open with two fumble returns for a TD to close out the half. Haag was efficient with 194 yards and 2 TD's, with 0 INT.

Week 7 - Buffalo 14, Miami 10
We lose another close one to the Bills. It was our inability to convert 3rd downs (2 of 10) that killed us in this one. Calvin Johnson is the only offensive player that has had a standout year so far with 33 catches for 660 yards in the first 7 games.

Week 8 - Miami 34, Indianapolis 7
It's the Calvin Johnson show again, as he 8 passes for 140 yards and a TD to lead our domination of the Colts. We held the defending Superbowl champs to 2 of 12 on 3rd downs.

Week 10 - Miami 34, Houston 7
We beat up a weak Houston team, but I'm worried abotu the anemic running attack. After a strong start, Casey Snyder has cooled off. I may switch him with Williams again. Haag is quietly having his best year (92.3 QB rating), but still throws too many picks.
