This is the earliest I've drafted in any of my leagues.

Ok, so here's the draft order:

3 k0ruptr - Hawaii Ha'a
6 Butter_of_69 - Dayton Dynamo
2 Qwikshot - Qwikshots Quivers
1 Celeval - Creeping UDFAs
10 Danny - Road Kill Cafe
9 molson - Enchanted Goats
7 rafini - Rafini Express
4 Masked - Eleven Masked Men
8 flere-imsaho - Fiddly Cartoonists
5 sterlingice - Richmond Rhinocerii

Hm... I am not keen on that 10/11 spot at all

In regular leagues where you can predict things, I like having a pick at the turn. But in something a bit more random like this, I'd greatly prefer a middle spot. Oh well.

With the draft order, we now have a soft, live draft starting.

The rules are simple- post in this thread with your pick and I'll try to update in Yahoo as quick as possible. Here is the format:

1.1 QB Peyton Manning

You can get more elaborate if you want, but make sure to include your pick number, position, and team name. Also, if it's something like Steve Smith where there are more than 1 in the league, try to put something distinguishing like "Steve Smith, CAR"

We have no time limits on currently so if people are out of town or busy this week, no big deal. The first time a pick will be due is 2pm Monday August 24th. Whoever was up at 8am that morning will be due and at that point the clock starts.

Just some quick rules reminders:

There is a 6 hour time limit for picks. If the last person picked at 1000 ET, your pick is due at 1600 ET (4pm ET). The standard clock runs from 0800 ET to 2200 (10pm) ET.

There is an exception to the time limit that is set to encourage everyone to check once at night and once in the morning. The first pick of the day is on a different clock. If the last pick yesterday was made before 9pm, then you have 1 hour to pick the next morning (until 9am). If the last pick yesterday was made sometime after that, then you have until 10am to pick. So, in short, always check the draft board at night and in the morning due to the compressed clock.

If you don't pick, you'll get the Yahoo o-rank top player selected for you. That can be quite a problem in this league as their list will be a lot different than our list with these rules. If an owner hasn't picked- anyone can post that player's Yahoo pick here once the time limit is up.

If you miss more than 1 pick, you can be removed from the league. We want active, competitive owners.

Also, if we don't finish by the first week in September, there will be a quick draft on AIM on Monday Sept 7th. We have never gotten to that point in this league, so I'd rather we not have to start.

Again, the keeper league measure failed so we won't be doing that. Also, the rules are now set- I won't be playing with the scoring any more (you'll see there were some changes I made a couple of times before the league started to get the right balance- you can see the scoring results in the post 2 abstract).

Also, for the first two rounds- might want to send a PM to the person after you until we get the draft order straight.

Alright, I'll do it. I'm not really sure this is the best idea with these rules. But I'm praying he catches a few more passes and scores more tds. Besides he helped me to a 2nd place finish in 07

Pick 1.1 - RB Adrian Peterson MIN.

Dola, I think IMO that drafting first in this league, because of the alternate rules is a disadvantage, now waiting quite a while for my next pick I dislike.

I think I have to go with this pick, due to the league rules.

Pick 1.2 - RB Maurice Jones-Drew

Just please don't blow your knee out in the preseason!!!!

He mentioned that it was him alone with the baby this week so I could see how that could cut into fantasy draft time. That's why the timer isn't on this weekend

The draft is now under way! Fiddly Cartoonists are on the clock until 1400 (2pm) ET.

The top player on the draft board for a computer pick is Michael Turner. It looks like they renamed the "Yahoo O-Rank" to "Projected" this year- that is what the list picks are based on.

Sorry guys, not only was I alone with the baby with the wife out of town I have been a) sick since Wednesday and b) now the baby is sick, so I'm home, trying to work, and taking care of a sick baby.

Having said that, I'll have a pick out in the next 10 minutes.

My availability sucks today, so I've PMed SI a 3-player preference list and he can post my next pick after he posts his two.

If you take 2 of my 3 guys I'll be pissed SI!!!

I've been waiting that first pick to drop since about halfways through the first round and it looks like I got lucky

1.10 WR Randy Moss
2.01 QB Aaron Rodgers

Also, I think Rodgers will continue to put up some really nice numbers at QB and he has less question marks around his production than most of the top RBs.

As flere is still on the board, I PM'd him if he wanted to still pick rather than me use his list. If he doesn't pick or mention something in about 15 minutes, I'll go off the list.

If Manning had also fallen to me, then I would have loved that base for a team. No real complaints about Rodgers, tho. Just a little less unproven with about as much upside. I like drafting the first few rounds with floor rather than ceiling in mind, tho.

Looks like flere is offline now so here's his next pick:

2.2 RB Deangelo Williams - CAR

Masked, I see you online and you're up, followed by rafini who is also online, and molson who just posted

No rush to make your picks- I'd rather people thought about who they wanted. But also, if you're online- make sure you make your pick before you jump offline (and if you're coming up, be thinking ahead since you know mostly what the board looks like).
