This game was horrible. Stewart didn't even get 60 yards in this one. We went with Parker today... looks like neither Parker nor Naquin are going to help us.) Code:

Week 10 Recap
(Oops... forgot to post the line, weather and everything before doing the Cincy game. You can tell I'm rushing through games today. :o I can tell you this, though: UAB was favored for the first time this year... by 3.)
UAB 35, Cincinnati 21 BIRMINGHAM - Moe Stewart ran for 164 yards and a TD as UAB (3-6, 2-4 C-USA) defeated Cincinnati (1-6, 1-4) on a decent football day at Legion Field. Stewart, the man of the game, was also helped out by a great performance from his quarterback, Rodney Naquin. A week after being benched for the second time this year, Naquin went 11 for 19 in passing, gaining a season-high 193 yards. He made one TD pass. Code:

Week 11 Preview
UAB (3-6) at #13 TCU (7-0)
Coaches Poll: UAB #90 Line: TCU by 28 Weather: 74 degrees, sunny TV: none The last two games of UAB's schedule this year will be the toughest of their conference schedule. Before playing rival Memphis in week 13, UAB travels to Fort Worth to play the Horned Frogs of TCU. TCU has steamrolled through all its competition this year. TCU fans are seriously thinking about a possible BCS berth in January. Meanwhile, UAB fans are thinking about 2006. TCU splendidly does what UAB aims to do: run the ball a lot and control the clock. UAB fans are hoping the Blazers can end TCU's BCS run, but that is highly unlikely. Our prediction: TCU 45, UAB 10.

Recruiting Commitments: 1 We got the tackle to commit. Jim Osburn (AL, 35+) will certainly help out our depth the next few years, but hopefully we can find some more talent at T in the next few recruiting classes. In the Office Walk-on sophomore T Leland Harper asked for a scholarship, but we turned him down. We're going to need that for some more talented tackles.

Week 13 - Preview
Memphis (7-3) at UAB (3-7)
Coaches Poll: Memphis #40, UAB #95 Line: Memphis by 18 Weather: 56 degrees, rainy TV: none In the final game of the year for both of these rivals, the Tigers play the Blazers at Legion Field. UAB players think they can pull off the upset here, because Memphis may have suffered a letdown after their loss to Southern Miss last week - a loss which may have cost them a bowl. Memphis runs a high-octane passing attack. Their QB has thrown 33 TD passes - 5th in the nation. Meanwhile, their run attack has been nonexistant. This normally fares well for UAB's defense, but the secondary has been inconsistent since the Dennis Kennedy injury. UAB would love nothing more than to end the year on a positive note for their seniors. But we don't see a pretty game here. Our prediction: Memphis 45, UAB 17.

Week 13 Recap
Memphis 34, UAB 28
BIRMINGHAM - It was the most exciting game of the year for both teams, but somebody had to lose, and unfortunately it was UAB. UAB played very well against the odds, but Memphis QB and game MVP Lee Riddick ran in an 8-yard TD with just 5 seconds left to lift Memphis to victory. Both these teams played well in the first half, with just one punt for both teams. Memphis took a 21-14 lead into the locker room. The third quarter was, from an offensive standpoint, boring, but then UAB began a drive that resulted in a touchdown at the beginning of the 4th, tying the game. Memphis would answer that on the next drive, taking a 28-21 lead. Then, late in the 4th, UAB RB Moe Stewart caught a 34-yard pass from QB Rodney Naquin that went in for a TD with less than 2 minutes remaining, tying the game at 28. The 33,000 fans in attendance - the largest for a UAB home game this year - started chanting "UAB" in unison. It looked like the game was headed into overtime. Then Riddick, together with unusual help from his running backs, put together a 2-minute drive that would make John Elway proud, going from the Memphis 35 to the UAB 8 in 1:15. Riddick would then run the ball in on a bootleg for the winning score while a shocked UAB defense watched. "This was certainly one for the ages," said a disappointed B.B. Gunn after the game. "This definitely ups the rivalry. I'm proud of my players, though. We made our mistakes, but they played with a lot of intensity. It's hard to stop Riddick, though. If he's not on the Heisman list, he should be." UAB players of the game included Stewart, Naquin and 2nd tailback Maurice Maxwell. Code:

Correction
Oops... did I say that CB Dennis Kennedy's career was over after that broken clavicle? My bad. He's a 4th-year senior, but he has one year of eligibility left. He'll be back in 2006 - thank goodness.

2005 Departing Seniors
So long, guys...
Code:
Obviously losing Stewart hurts, but we're also losing the cornerstones of our OL in Clanton, Jordan and Player. Our O-line might not be able to effectively protect our backfield next year. We're losing our top tackler, Morgenstern, plus two starters from a D-line that was pretty bad last year. Other than that, we don't lose much. Continue on to 2006: UAB 2006
