In a rush to get you all going, I'd forgotten I didn't have a chance today to tinker with my own team. So that's what took me so long.

In case you were wondering how simming goes for me, it usually involves me yelling at my screen to my team STOP LOSING STOP LOSING STOP LOSING.

Columbus and Los Angeles in last in their respective divisions is crazy. Gomers weren't supposed to run away with the NL East like that. Worcester hanging tough for a wild card spot along with Wyoming who are trying to make their first-ever playoff appearance. The AL East is nuts, no idea who will end up finishing that one off. Grand Rapids meanwhile is cruising in the AL West, but any of those teams could manage to have a strong month and contend for a wild card.
Yeah, it's going to be a crazy end to the season. Preparing the file. Newbs, we'll take tomorrow off. Trade deadline is tomorrow night and then we sim the final month and a half or so of the regular season on Thursday night. |

I added current wins to the spreadsheet, obviously you'll win more but...this is the first time in a while where a lot of contenders who didn't measure up are projected to lose money and so...you can take a look and see if that changes what your plans are for the rest of this year, trade blocks and such alike.
Unless you're Rio Grande, Portland or Cleveland, they've already turned a profit for the year. Last edited by Young Drachma : 02-27-2013 at 12:44 AM. |

Assuming gate revenue is similar to last year, average payroll is down by about $1.5m-$2m and so, playoff bonuses will be slightly off last year's pace but not by much.
Also, the file is up. See you all on Thursday unless there are trades for me to process in which case I'll put up a file tomorrow night with all of them. |

I'm surprised my starting pitching has held up so far. Made me want to cringe coming in and are 3rd in ERA. Another nice surprise is the emergence of Ron Storms. After a TERRIBLE defensive year last year for Salvador Bernal at third ( -19.2 ZR ; .926 FP ) Light hitting Storms was moved over to Third for improved defense ( .252/.275./389 , 7 homers last year ) and has responded HUGE this year ( .276/.330./543 , 29 homers ) with a ZR of 1.1 and FP of .955 for much improved defense at third. Now I just need to do something about my light hitting 1b.

I almost wish we'd stayed in St. Louis, only because the narrative of fans being pissed off all year, then seeing this team return like this now would be interesting. But I just don't even associate the two clubs together in my mind and it'd probably be like Sonics fans seeing their old guys in Thunder gear, except I gutted so much of the team that there shouldn't be much of that.
Then I remember it's fake baseball and no one cares. |

9/12: Memphis is riding a 13 game winning streak and clinches the AL East. Winnemucca has a magic # of 2 for the AL Wild Card, with New York sitting 5 GB and boasting dim hopes of catching them. Grand Rapids has a magic # of 3 in the AL West.
In the NL West, Lake Tahoe has a 2 game lead on Wyoming for the division title. Columbus is 1.5 GB of the NL Wild Card. It's going to come down to the last week of the season over there. |

Parity this year was crazier than ever. So far, only one team has lower than a .400 win percentage.

Wyoming will play two more games on the road in Worcester and then finish the year with a 4 game set against Lake Tahoe in the series that will decide the NL West title. Columbus has two more against Los Angeles on the road and then will go home for a season-ending 3 game set against Brooklyn.
After two games in Chicago, Winnemucca will travel up to Grand Rapids to finish the season off and decide the AL West title race against the Robins. New York will play three more at Cuyahoga and then face Rio Grande at home in a 3-game set to end the season. |

Memphis is making just their 2nd appearance in 12 seasons this year in the post-season after being one of SLOP's earlier dominant teams.

Grand Rapids 8, Winnemucca 7 New York 7, Cuyahoga 4 Lake Tahoe 5, Wyoming 4 The best New York could hope for is a tie for the AL Wild Card with Winnemucca, as a loss by them or a win by Winnemucca in the regular season that's left will send the Mucks back to the playoffs. |

Lake Tahoe 3, Wyoming 2 (10 innings) Columbus 4, Brooklyn 3 Columbus now has a 1 game lead over Wyoming for the NL Wild Card. A win tomorrow would put them into the playoffs. A Wyoming win and a Columbus loss and we'd have a tie-breaker game. |

SUNSET SERIES XXXIII PLAYOFFS
NL Elimination Series: Lake Tahoe v. Columbus AL Elimination Series: Winnemucca v. Memphis Memphis is angling for their 4th title in franchise history, Gettysburg is also looking for their 4th and 3rd straight, which would tie a SLOP record. Lake Tahoe has won two pennants in the past, but never a title and this is their first appearance in the post-season since switching to the NL years ago. Grand Rapids and Columbus have never won league pennants (Grand Rapids is making their maiden playoff voyage) and would be making history by doing so this year. |

Nice job of turning the season around by the Lake Monsters.
One game under .500 on August 8 but finish the season 26-13 to grab the wildcard. |

I know Portland is not a contender, but still it hurt to see the team go 13-24 over the last 37 games. We were at 60-65 with a chance at a .500 season... oh, well, there's always next year.

I guess the 73 wins is still the most in franchise history (all six seasons of it).

Punx tricked me into believing they had a chance. But I knew better. Still, not bad for throwing a team together blindly like that.

Yes, you can drop anyone for a full season. You should let me know, because the game is probably going to charge you the full value of the deal and you won't be able to sign FAs. We do not do compensation picks in this league. |
