I'll echo the thanks for this link, which is ridiculously fun to fool around with, and taunt people with. I'm suitably impressed....not necessarily by the fantasy predictions, which are always skewed and nearly random, wherever you go, but by the underlying logic which generates actual unique, insightful and relevant commentary and analysis, via some sorta AI algorhythm. Most shit like this, that generates some sorta dynamic text, can't string together a gotdamn sentence based on this much input and variables, and similar decision engines seem to usually based in a more technical realm, so it's kinda funny to see what appears to be relatively robust AI in a rate-my-fantasy-football-team site. I got obsessed for a second and entered everybody's teams from my league, with ~our scoring setup, here they are according to David Dodd's default rankings (who is obviously a genius ranking that first team so high). I wouldn't expect anybody else to be interested enough to page through that crap, but I was interested to see that it basically generated very different reports for each team, that didn't conflict, and seemed to definitely discern between good and bad teams rather than just kind of evaluating them roughly equally. Neat sutff....kinda surprised it's free, considering how much everybody loves to have their teams/drafts analyzed and validated. To be frank, I don't like it so much. Rice is studly, but after that I think you ultimately cost yourself by ignoring QB and WR entirely in the first 4 rounds, without spectacular returns. Which isn't to say that Charles and McCoy don't have potential, but they've also got a combined career touchdown total of 11. That said, I think Palmer is undervalued and could easily outperform QBs that are being valued well above him, and the same could be said for Cutler, provided your league doesn't penalize INTs too harshly.

This team has a lot of upside. Finley, Charles, Jones, and Wallace are all breakout candidates. This is a team that you could either win the league with or finish dead last with it has so many unknowns about it. I'd love this team if it were a keeper league. |

Team 1 is obviously strong at QB, and I like the Woodson pick in the 6th round (though you can bet he's not going to have 9 more picks this year), but there's nothing there at WR that really scares me and there are a lot of questions at RB (talk about a youth movement!). Lots of room for explosive weeks, but also the possibility of falling flat in a given week too.
Team 2 is also obviously strong at QB, and I would expect a bit more consistency out of this group of RBs (though team 1 certainly has more potential for explosive weeks at this position). Welker will be a sure-fire points producer in a PPR league, and I love the late pickups of Driver and Mason. Good value there for late-round selections. I'm pretty meh on this defensive group (though Peppers in the 8th seems a nice pick), but then I've got no personal experience with IDP leagues.

Team 1 is mine. I didn't think about how I had two rookies until after I'd taken Best. But at each point, I really didn't like any of the other options available. If a couple of Mathews/Best/Foster/Spiller hit it big, and one of Dez Bryant or Michael Crabtree, I'll be set. One thing I think about IDP is that most teams fill their defensive starters in rounds 7-11 or so after grabbing the 6 offensive starters, so I can get some steals there on offense.

Zero QB depth is a concern, but I assume you've got some roster flexibility you can play with in order to address that. You're absolutely stacked at RB IMO, with 3 talented guys that should all get the bulk of their teams' carries. Decent WR corps too, and as I've stated earlier I like Shiancoe this year with Favre at the helm again. Overall this looks like a good team, so long as Rivers stays healthy.

My final draft happened last night. 10 teams, redraft, non-PPR, standard scoring (4 pt passing TD and -2 INT is the only real wrinkle) with 1-25 for passing and 1-10 for rush/rec. 6 points non-passing TDs. We start 2 HB, 2 WR and 1 Flex HB/WR:
1-3: Adrian Peterson RB 2-18: Rashard Mendenhall RB 3-23: Miles Austin WR 4-38: Steve Smith WR (Car) 5-43: Jonathan Stewart RB 6-58: Steve Smith WR (NYG) 7-63: Ronnie Brown RB 8-78: Jason Witten TE 9-83: Kevin Kolb QB 10-98: Ben Roethlisberger QB 11-103: Michael Bush RB 12-118: Bernard Berrian WR 13-123: Stephen Gostkowski K 14-138: Broncos D/ST I like my team a lot. If Big Ben+Kolb can give me anything at QB, I should be set. With 4 for TDs, -2 for INT and 1-25 for yards, QB scoring is a bit neutered so I figured I could wait there (esp with the ability to start 3 HBs). |

The Zero depth at QB was my fault, I had forgotten that we are required to draft atleast one at each position and did not draft any D/K in the last two picks. My plan as of now is to wait until we're allowed to work the waiver wire (today at noon,) and then drop WR Meachem for a backup QB. Appreciate the feedback!

That's a really stupid rule. EDIT: But I'd hang on to Meachem at this point, maybe wait to see what Week 1 brings, and pick a backup QB then -- you'll have a better idea who to get for your backup, and you might decide you want to keep Meachem. Last edited by Passacaglia : 09-02-2010 at 12:41 PM. |

Alright, so the top team is me, and the bottom team is my wife. She just started getting into football two years ago, and was happy beyond belief to pick up Gore. She had the #6 pick, and I had the #12 (last) pick.

I went with this set-up too in one of my leagues. I'm having some regrets on not nabbing Rivers instead of Kolb+Ben. Here's hoping Kolb holds down the fort (or better), and Ben comes back strong. |

Had another draft last night. 12 team league, I picked 8th.
Starting Roster is 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 RB/WR, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF 1 pt for every 25 passing yards, 6 for a TD, -2 for an INT, 2 for a 400-yard game 1 pt for every 10 rushing or receiving, 2 pts for a 100-yard game, -2 for a fumble QB Phillip Rivers 2.5 RB Maurice Jones-Drew 1.8 RB Ryan Mathews 3.8 RB Justin Forsett 7.8 RB Donald Brown 10.5 RB Darren McFadden 11.8 WR Michael Crabtree 5.8 WR Pierre Garcon 6.5 WR Derrick Mason 8.5 WR Bernard Berrian 9.8 WR Laurent Robinson 12.5 WR Kenny Britt 13.8 WR Sidney Rice 14.5 TE Dallas Clark 4.5 DEF Arizona 15.8 There's 15 spots, plus one IR spot. Sidney Rice will go there, and I'll take a Kicker then. I wanted Vincent Jackson for the IR spot, but he was taken a couple round earlier without me noticing. Whoops. I like your team. Is there a flex spot? Might have trouble with a solid #3 RB or WR but you've got enough to pick from with that depth that one is bound to spring up. Surprised Rivers was taken in the 2nd, but I guess with 6 pts for QB's they were flying off the board?

Yeah, there's 2 RBs, 2 WRs, and 1 RB/WR. QBs were definitely hot. Brees and Rodgers were gone by my 8th pick (which was fine with me since MJD was sitting there). Brady and Manning went in the turn-around for me. I was hoping to get one of Brady, Manning, and Rivers in the 3rd, but since 2 of the 3 went before my 2nd pick, I took Rivers there. Romo went later in the 2nd, went at 3.2 or something. |

If you can manage your QBs and BathroomBen comes back from suspension not totally rusty than I would agree. Assuming you took SJax and Moss 1-2, then you still have 4 guys who would normally go in the 3rd and 4th rounds on the team. Then there is a set of 4 guys who didnt last past the 6th in either of my drafts.

My Turn
1.6 - Rashard Mendenhall 2.5 - Andre Johnson 3.6 - Ryan Grant 4.5 - DeSean Jackson 5.6 - Chad Ochocinco 6.5 - Tony Romo 7.6 - Jonathon Stewart 8.5 - Jason Witten 9.6 - Jerome Harrison 10.5 - Malcolm Floyd 11.6 - Matt Ryan 12.5 - Johnny Knox 13.6 - Mike Thomas 14.5 - Julius Peppers 15.6 - Tanard Jackson (Dropped for Danieal Manning) 16.5 - Jay Feely 17.6 - Jared Allen 18.5 - Texas D (Dropped for Jacksonville D) Im not a huge fan of individual D players for the league but by the time I got around to looking at them, most of the impact guys were gone. They are separated into DB and then any position defensive player. My biggest concern is probably that DB spot. Sacks/INT are worth 2 points, and each tackle is worth a point as well. My defense isn't that great, but some people seem to be saying that Jacksonville could be a sleeper and if worst comes to worst, I can rotate off of the FA pile. Some owners paid attention, others do not. Sanchez went 1.10 and Bush went 2.1, just to show you what some guys were thinking |

Yup. Looking more in depth, you can really accumulate points by one of the stat filling Lb'ers like a Patrick Willis. Might be something I need to look into more after week one and the dust has settled.
I kept wanting to take a QB sooner and maybe the Stewart pick wasn't that great, but if anything, I have pretty good depth. |

it was a mix bag of guys that knew their shit and guys who didn't, with one or two that didn't belong at all. I took full advantage by holding off on a QB till around the 9th or 10th round.

My draft is tonight ($1000 auction cap, 23 man roster, ppr, keeper, IDP league). I have a good start going in
QB - M. Schaub, M. Ryan RBs - A. Foster, J. Charles, J. Forsett WR - M. Austin, M. Wallace, D. Aromashodu, J. Maclin TE - J. Finley LB - D. Harris, B. Cushing, Laurinaitis. (In our league, a good LB is equal to a 2nd tier RB) I have $875 to fill out 10 spots. (roughly 1 DL, 1 DB, 1 K, 3 WR, 3 RB, 1 open spot). We have a rookie draft with set salarys so, the top 3 RBs in play are MJD, Gore and Jackson so, I'll probably target Gore out of that group since MJD is franchised with a match option. After that I really want A. Johnson since I have Schaub.. After those 2, I'll probably only have $275 left

I'm not oversold on my team this year - think I'll end up going jumbo most weeks!
14 man PPR keeper league, runner up last year, so 13th pick every round. Have to play 1QB, 1 RB, 1 TE, K, DL, LB, DB. Maximum of 2 RBs, but unlimited combos of WR/TE to make up numbers QB - Rivers, Henne RB - C.Johnson, A.Foster, R.Bush, Hightower WR - Harvin, Garcon, Aramashodu, Royal, J.Jones TE - Witten, Cooley, Shockey K - Reed, Rackers DL - Mathis, J.Smith LB - Woodley, DJ Williams DB - J.Joseph, Meriweather We have bonuses for big plays, long TD's, penalties for missed kicks, QBs get punished for sacks, defenders get differentiated tackle & assist points, so it's a tough league to input the scoring into the footballguys rating sheet. Based on the offence only they are high on the team bar the very average WRs, all saying lock/min 92% chance of playoffs - I'd take that like a shot tbh!

Draft results from last night. The league is non-ppr, standard scoring with premium points on longer scoring plays.
QB: Matt Schaub (2.10) , Eli Manning (12.10) RB: Maurice Jones-Drew (1.3), Steven Jackson (3.3) , Arian Foster (7.3), Tim Hightower (11.03), Rashad Jennings (16.10), Isaac Redman (15.3) WR: Dwayne Bowe (5.3), Hines Ward (6.10), Mike Williams (SEA) (13.03), Santonio Holmes (8.10), Jacoby Jones (9.3), Lance Moore (14.10) TE: Jermichael Finley (4.10) PK: Ryan Longwell (17.3) TD: New York Jets (10.10) I know I'm a little weak at WR, but I grabbed a lot of the guys I wanted. |

A pedestrian WR corps, but other than that I like this team. Schaub will be an extremely productive starter, though a fragile one, but Eli should be a serviceable fill-in, and you're obviously well-set at RB.

Just drafted my local money league team: 10 team, no PPR, you do get pts for return yardage (10 yds = 1 pt). 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D. I drafted 3rd, by the time there it got back to me at 2.8 there were 6 QBs already taken...
QBs: Carson Palmer, Brett Favre, Eli Manning RBs: Ray Rice, Jahvid Best, Matt Forte, Willis McGahee WRs: Miles Austin, Calvin Johnson, Santana Moss, TJ Whoseyerdaddy TE: Tony Gonzalez K: Ryan Longwell D: Packers I think it's pretty good considering the insane run on QBs at end of 1st into 2nd round. I waited til like 7/8th round to grab Palmer. Brees went 9, Rodgers 10 and kept going after that. |

OK, we drafted ours last night, here's my team:
1.5 RB Ray Rice 2.4 WR Andre Johnson 3.5 WR Austin Miles 4.4 QB Matt Schaub 5.5 RB Ryan Grant 6.4 WR Greg Jennings 7.5 RB Arian Foster 8.4 WR Terrell Owens 9.5 Def 49ers 10.4 K Mason Crosby 11.5 QB Matt Ryan 12.4 TE Brett Celek 13.5 WR Jeremy Maclin 14.4 RB Laurence Maroney 15.5 WR Jacoby Jones I was drafting on a pre-draft list I had put together for the first 3 rounds. Had I noticed the run on QBs (Schaub was the 8th QB taken), I probably would have waited a round and taken DeShaun Jackson or Marques Colston in the 4th and taken Schaub in the 5th. I would love to upgrade Maroney, but not sure if I should risk Bush, McCoy, Forte or Jackson over him. Each of the other guys have question marks, at least Maroney is a starter. |

Looks like Maroney won't start, dumped him for Forte.
Yes and no, there is one other strong team in the league, my best friend in the company who shares my FF philosophy. The others are not the sharpest tools in the shed. |

Any suggestions for my first fantasy football team in about five years? I was the 12th pick.... We're very thin at RB; I missed out Ryan Grant by one pick at 3.12, which would have been huge. I settled for Addai over the likes of Ronnie Brown, J Best, Spiller, L McCoy.
QB Phllip Rivers QB Alex Smith RB Joseph Addai RB Reggie Bush RB Beanie Wells RB Darren McFadden WR Randy Moss WR Reggie Wayne WR Santana Moss WR Devin Hester WR Kenny Britt TE Jason Witten DEF Minnesota Vikings K Rob Bironas Chad Henne is still available; I'm tempted to pick him and drop Alex Smith; but they're both wild cards as a backup at this point. I like Henne with Marshall though; but we'll see. Last edited by mauchow : 09-09-2010 at 05:01 PM. |

I am personally pretty high on Henne this season.
Wayne and Moss at WR is great. I'd try and trade a couple wide receivers to get a solid back to go with Addai. I personally am not that high on Beanie, but they will be running a lot so we'll see. |

My team for a 12 person league. I wasn't thrilled about doubling up on a couple guys from the Saints and Colts, but it is what it is.
