First game of a long season and one game is not make or break, BUT if Arthur Smith comes into Mercedes Benz Stadium with Justin Fields as his starter and beats the Falcons it is really going to let the air out of this season from the start.

Falcons ends a solid drive with stalling after first and goal. That feels familiar.

Cousins has not been sharp. He doesn't look comfortable and can't get in sync. Bijan on the other hand is looking very good.

Cousins to Pitts touchdown. Pittsburg is doing a good job getting to Cousins on every play, but it finally looks like Kurt is getting settled in moving around a bit.

In one of my fantasy leagues, a two-family league, I'm playing against the person who drafted Caleb Williams with their first pick. So, obviously there's a lot riding on this Bears game for me....

Bryce Young needs a change of scenery. Like, the XFL or CFL.

Every fucking year with the slow start for the Bengals.

They'll get better, but damn they look bad today.

Dolphins look like shit, except for one drive, in the first half.

Very strange call, where Tua threw to Achane, who clearly got in the end zone. They mark him down short, but refuse to review it. It wasn't even close. Didn't matter as Achane scored on the next play anyways, but still weird.

Bengals #1 disappointment by far but Falcons up there too. Especially since I have them in my salary cap league.

It is frustrating. There is lots of doom and gloom, but it really is just the first game. It does add to the wonder why these teams don't use the preseason to at least practice a couple of series in a game situation. So much it looks like the team is not on the same page.

So in 3 years when the Bears are playing some random mid-season game attempting a 4th quarter comeback and they flash a stat about how many comeback wins Williams has, this game is going to count as one of those wins, isn't it?

I thought for sure that was going to be roughing the kicker, but actually they call holding on the kicking team, as the Pittsburgh linemen blocked the guy into the punters plant leg. He gets the penalty and takes out his own punter.

Cousin throws another pick and that is going to be the ball game. He has made some terrible decisions in this game. Again, first game, but the thing they are paying him all the money for is to NOT make those kind of mistakes.

That Nico Collins catch was right at the chains and clearly short.
Why did they only review the catch and not the spot? It was clearly short of the marker. The marker was right there.

With just over 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, Travis Etienne broke through the line and was headed for a TD to make it 24-7 Jags. At the last second Jevon Holland punched the ball loose and Dolphins recovered in the end zone.

On the very next play, Tua throws an 80 yard TD pass to Hill. Dolphins end up winning 20-17.

Not nice to see them fall apart after the half. Murray less than 200 yards passing, Harrison with just one catch is not going to get wins. But hey they got the first dynamic kickoff or whatever they are calling it TD

There was a holding in the end zone safety in the Seahawks Broncos game, which is kind of cool. You rarely see those.

And they get another safety later in the first half. First time with 2 safeties by the same team since 2017.

But don't cut Velus Jones. He's too valuable to the team. Poles is a joke just like Pace, Emery, Angelo, all the way down to Vainisi. Some things never change.

He can't play. He stayed in pistol the whole game (a formation he has only played in 10 plays his whole career) because he is unable to take snaps under center. The more I have seen people break down this game, the gloomer it gets. His arm strength is down. There was absolutely zero play action, which has always been his strength. He shouldn't have started. Now they have games versus the Eagles and the Chiefs, and they are likely going to be looking at 0-3. This could get ugly.

There is some awful, awful QB play in this league. How much are Watson and Jones getting paid to not be able to complete a 10 yard pass on a regular basis?

Not sure what other rules the NFL can tweak to try to mask the fact that an increasing number of starting QBs just don’t look like they belong out there on the field.

I don't understand Payton's offense. Should have just stuck with Russ at this point. 21 completions and 34 throws for 104 yards. What's the point?

Week 1 isn't even over and I'm already rooting for a Penix/Jameis/Stidham remix.

Full disclosure I’m an overweight 40 year old white guy, but there are legit some QBs in the league that can’t consistently make throws that I CAN. Look, I know because I’m throwing 200 of those passes a week to my kids. Yea they can run a 4.4-4.6 40 and/or throw the ball 90 yards but it’s really embarrassing that they can’t complete a 10 yard throw. IDK what has gone wrong with some of these guys but it’s frustrating watching your team lose because a QB overthrows nearly ever fucking pass.

As I recall, Mayfield had a down year but was known to be dealing with injuries for the last half of that season, at least. It's not like he suddenly pulled a Russell Wilson out of thin air.

Given Watson's off-field issues, time away from the game, and continuing expectation to be the QB on a playoff-caliber team for a couple of years now, I feel like his deal is even worse than Wilson's. In Wilson's case, everyone except Seattle was fooled as to what he was. With Watson, he had multiple question marks.

Odunze is a good pick. You can't pass up that kind of value. The issue is they didn't use their massive cap space to sign competent offensive linemen. There were centers available at relatively cheap prices, but we needed to spend money on Gerald Everett for some fucking reason.

Almost Lions time! I want to see Hutchinson crush Stafford, if Jamo Williams can finally step up as WR2 and if Jahmyr Gibbs can continue his evolution as a weapon in the backfield.

No Offense but throwing 200 passes to your kids (with nobody trying to hurt you) is not the same as having, at minimum, three large and fast men trying to hurt you while throwing.

I agree QB play looks sloppy but lets not get carried away here... The QB position is not easy to play.
