How the fuck does Cleveland sign Ridgeway for $29mm/1, when I offered him $300mm/10, and he was looking for a long term contract too?
I declare bullshit on this game. I think I'm gonna switch to autopilot for a few. Last edited by Gomer : 10-18-2012 at 03:07 PM. |

OOTP has always had that loophole where a guy would take a one-year deal for big money. It doesn't happen a lot, because guys don't usually offer those deals, but...the AI has been fixed in recent years to make sure that guys don't only sign JUST for the most money because it's a bit too predictable. But the one-year money thing has happens, you just don't see many guys offering contracts like that, so that's why you never see it much. But it's an old OOTP thing. |

Also, I've never seen an OOTP guy request a 10-year deal. 8, sure..maybe I've seen 9 before, but I don't recall. But I've never seen a guy ask for 10. So if you offer 10 when he asks for 8, he might ignore you. I've seen this. Usually if he asks for 6 you can go 7, if he asks for 4 you can go 5...maybe six, but usually guys don't like you to go more than 1 year over.

It's still BS. I can't sign my own FA's to extensions, because they all want $23 million. I can't sign superstars because I offer them too many years.
I might as well just let the AI handle my shit for a while before I break my computer. |

That'll be fixed now that contracts are guaranteed. You should see a market correction. |

Cleveland signed Brian Winter who is, hilariously, a Cleveland native.

Chicago is currently $1,695,000 over the cap. They'll need to release someone to get under the cap by opening day or need to trade for cap space to cover the shortfall. Given the contract breakdown (a lot of big deals, a FFP and some minor leaguers at the minimum) I'd go dangling a 2nd rounder (2.2) to see if you can pick up some money, since it's basically as good as a low first anyway.
