4 Mar, 1504 – Rebellion in Tunja!

29 Mar – Ended

8 April – I get an event – Declining Power of the Nobility – they lose 10 influence. Whew!

18 Aug - So how I;m bashing the rebels is simple. I get a message telling me that one group of Separatists is about to hit. I just one about the Ichman ones, in Lima. So I order an army to that location to defend. In this case ,I have 13,000 forces in Cuzco hat I send over

23 sept – I get an event _ The gOlden Era pof our Culture – gain some prestige

4 May, 1505 – Rebellion in Lima

15 May –Done

9 March, 1506 –

I get a call to arms

Charca, has declared war against Calchaqui. They’d like me to join. Cusco and Pacajes join Calchaqui.

I kind of want to decline. Our peace with Cusco ends in two years and I want ot blitz them. I don’t want to go to war with them and gain pretty much nothing since I’m not the war leader. Now I could say yes, grab some land, and then settle for a side thing,.

Okay, Im in.

I move to the border

24 April – I begin to hit Ayaviri, and my other army is moving down the Andes right now

1 June – Ayaviri is ours

3 July – My Quito army arrives the Cusco capital of Quero.

24 July – We take Puno from Cusco.

7 Aug – I begin to siege the capital of Pacajes Tiahuanaco

I need to take Puno from Cusco, which is not next to me, so I need Ayaviri, Puno, and then anything else I can get.

12 Dec – I get some native assimilation of 100 in Cauca

18 Jan, 1507 – I split 1000 troops off from a sieging army and took Maraya from Cusco

1 Feb – I take Quero, the capital

Huh. That was faster than I thought it’d be

I can’t get peace for just Ayaviri and Puno. Alright let’s keep pushing

4 March – We take Tuiahuanaco, the capital of Pacajes!

Surely that’s enough, right!

I personally have a 60% against them. I can get Ayaviri or Quero, but not two holdings. Alright, I;ma keep pushing

14 Mar – We take Chuquiabo – every holding of Cusco is ours

I get 265 gold, and my two targets

I send a diplomat out to get more claims

So I grabbed two provinces:

I order some cores.

I’ll grab a quick lil’ snapshot for you.

I have a ton of money, authority, power for growth and more.

Ayaviri – 0.14 cash, 5.6 unrest, 40% autonomy, mountains, woold, the Aimara Inti folk here are south of two Cusco holdings – Quer and Macaya, and it connects Puno tpo the east with our holdings in Cuzco and Abancay, 9 development

Puno – Aimara and Inti as well, with 6 development gold mines and a temple, 0.12 money, and east of Ayaviri and west of the capital of Pacajes. Why did I need this so much? You’ll see!

10 Nov – Our former ally, Charca, is no more. They were forced to turn over some land to Colla and is freed, and other was taken . Colla, a 2 province nation is now back on the map

I gain CBs on every Incan’s historical province, and they don’t end.

We gain new traditions and ambitions.

For example, I now have a forcelimit of 30, but I have just 29 regiments. I can ebb that up.

12 Dec – Another Mitmaq event occurs and I allow it

1 Januar, 1509 –

After a long time, our first colony is now self-sufficient:

Cauca – Colonies are no longer cores. Huh. I spend the 20 power it’ll take to do it. 4 development, coastal highlands with the coffee trade, Quechua and Inti people here, and 0.18 money made.

My next colonial target is inland of Cauca – Popayan. It’s next to Cauca, and also connects Quito with Neiva.

I finish my mission and we gain some taxes and get bonus development costs in Cauca

I just slide my 3000 troops over from Cauca to Popayan

5 January – We get an event:

Shrine of Viracocha

After having created the world and given each ethnic group their language and cloths, Viracocha travelled from lake Titicaca from the Andes disguised as an old man. Today the route is dotted with shrines commemorating his travels.

I build a temple, and we lose 100 ducats and we gain this for the rest of eternity – Shrine of Viracocha – Tolerance of the True Faith - +0.5

The only mission available is to form an alliance with Pacajes. Nope, not interested in any more hairy alliances. We are Inti. We are the Incan Empire. We are. We need none.

10 March – Cusco has declared war on Colla. Pacajes joins Cusco

1 Nov – New Tech!

Military 4 –

Pike Square – We get +0.25 military tactics and +0.5 land morale

2 Dec – Cauca is now a core.

26 Dec – Colla was annexed by Cusco, who is now back to 5 provinces

10 Jan, 1510 – I order some more troops built in the southern front

3 April – So here’s a look at tech right now:

As I mentioned before, we are at 8/7/10 for tech development. So take our best military. That’s 120 mil power annually. I need roughly 1400 to advance in tech (standard is 600). Roguhly every 12 years I should get a military tech advance, without any tech bonuses. And without spending any MIL power along the way.

I spend ADM power more than anything else for cores, stability, and more. So we can get DIP soon, we’re at 1260 right now and rising.

16 Nov – I get a good harvest event and I choose to invest it into ADM tech

1 February, 1511 – Our colony in Popayan is a salt province

18 Sept – Event

The Young Men and Women of Huancavelica

The priests of Huancavelica have become concerned about too many in the are being unmarried and they hard to have families agree to matches. The priests would like for us to forcibly arrange marriages, which has happened in the past.

I order the matching, I gain some authority, and the province gets +3 local unrest for 15 years

20 Sept – War breaks out in the south. Cusco declared war against Pacajes and their capital next to us. Calchaqui is on the side of Cusco.

5 July, 1512 – Event –

The Coastal Peoples

The coastal Chimu people re the carriers of one of the oldest cultures in the Andes. As their lands re now under our sway, we cannot help but marvel at their artisans and craftsmen. Their silversmiths, weavers and ceramicists are producing treasures such as we have never seen before.

I choose the option to push integration and the 5 provinces of Chimu gain 25% autonomy, and we get this event forever:

Integration of Chimu Customs - +10% stability cost, -5% Admin tech costs, -5% Dip tech costs

Tech cost reductions? Sign me up!

After the event, I do something awesome. I drop the autonomy in every province (except Chimbote, which I can’t do again until after next year).

30 July – Pacajes forces arrive in Quero and begin to lay siege ot Cusco

I send Pacajes some cash t help subsidize their war

3 Oct - In case anyone cares, our treaty with the Arawak ended

1 Nov – New Tech

Diplomatic Tech 5 –
Trade Range 20, TradeEffeciency +5%

8 Dec – The siege of Quero is lifted by the Cusco force

1 Feb, 1513 – Our trader advisor has passed. I hire…

Huayna Capac Inquill, level 1 advisor with Better Relations over time +20

So let’s discuss the Incan Empire for a bit

Starting in 1438, Cusco begins a campaign that will dominate and take over the region. It didn’t end taking over the region until 1533, when the last holdouts were forced in. It took about 100 years of real life time to get to own the whole region. The Incan Empire is the largest Empire in the pre-Colombian days in the Americas.

Now we still have lots to go, and while I took over in 1444, we started the first war in 1454 and begin our conquering. And while we wear the mantle of the Incan Empire, there are vast swatches of the south that are not under our control yet. Fully 14 Inti provinces are left in Cusco, Pacajes and Calchaqui. We need to bring those in, and I’d like to annex the adjacent tribal nations as well.

That’s my plan for Inca. So we’re fine and on track. But as you know, its 1513. I have no idea what’s happening anywhere else on the world. We could have colonies in Southern America in Brazil, central America, the Caribbean, who knows? I could be really close to seeing European ships in our waters. And I still have two more reforms I need to do (we are at 49 authority for the next one). Know what? I’m not looking it up either. I want this to be a total surprise. We’ve all seen campaigns where colonization is slowed down by war in Europe or other factors. So getting a chance to really build up could be in the works. I don’t know.

We’ll see. Europe will come.

We’re at 4 authority annually now

22 Mar – Native assimilation in Popayan increases our group’s holding

I know have discovered 9 provinces that are empty and surrounded our Muiscan additions

31 May – Decline of the merchant classes leads to -10 influence for the Merchants

29 Oct – I cut autonomy in Chimbote

1 May – I proclaim a guarantee for Calchaqui

1 June – I send a guarantee for Charrua as well, the small tribe south of Calchaqui. They are in the Incan sphere of influence

I order my 13k strong army in Bogota to relocate to the south

21 Nov – Disagreeing Advisor occurs. I agree, keep my military adviser, lose some prestige, and gain a ton of MIL power

Feb 15, 1515 – Another of the Chief Problems erupts, and I choose to slay him and I get some rebels and gained some authority

15 Mar – They capture Tunja

213 Aug – I take a mission to conquer Macaya

I lost around 6000 manpower after the civil war.

I hire a nice general, 2 fire, 2 shock, 4 width

13 Dec -Another nice event follows:

The Huacas and the Royal Temple

With the growth of the realm it has come to encompass many chiefdoms and has various Huacas, local idols, being worshipped. We could bring in all of these idols into our central worship in Huanuco. Wht do I do?

I chose to move them. We lose 10 legitimacy, 1 stability ( I spend ADM to build it back up) and this event permanently:

Huacas - -1 National Unrest

1 Jan, 1518 – I declare war on Cusco. They have no allies. They absorbed them all

My goal is to hit the Cusco nation so hard it forgets its birthday

25 Jan – I defeat their main army in their capital of Quero after I combined tow armies to hit I had

24 Feb-We take Macaya

6 Mar - I win in Ayaviri against their army

19 April – Another holding falls to me

24 May – I defeat their army again

6 Sept – We take another Cusco holding

1 Nov – Another falls. They have cavalry so getting to catch them is harder.

27 Dec – Another province falls

1 Feb, 1519 – Another falls

11 Feb – We capture their capital

Now I can move that force over and hope to get a pincer on their army

13 feb – I find a suitable wife for my son, his sister, and I gain authority to support it

11 Mar – Their final provinces falls to us. We have a 100% victory, but I want to rout and end their chances and hopes of a comeback

30 Mar - @While I encircle them, they recapture a province

4 June – We beat them!

7 June – I get a peace offer – They give me 6 provinces. Nope.

15 June – I rout their army

16 July – We retake the final province

We annex all of Cusco!

We get 34 aggressive expansion badboy, but it’s not like it matters out here. We gain prestige and manpower recover speed from the mission.

We just added:

Quero
Macaya
Chuquiabo
Charcas
Tiahuanaco
Oruro
Potosi
Quillacas
Chichas
Choquechaca

10 provinces in one war. Good bye Cusco!

I don’t have enough ADM power to core them all, so instead I’ll core just – Macaya, (some of these are cheap – Quero is just 29 for example), Quero, Tiahuanaco, Oruro, Quillacas, Chichas, and Choquechaca

Map of the area taken!

I zoomed in to give you a nice view of all of the provinces You can see Quero on the upper-,leftish to Chichas, Potosi and Choquechaca that border Calchaqui.

Our next mission is to reduce overextension.

Here we go, get ready:

All provinces are Inti and Aimara unless otherwise mentioned. Remember we have claims on all of this stuff, taking it in war is easy time. They also all have 40% Autonomy and 8% unrest unless otherwise mentioned.

We’re doing the back line first. The map is basically two provinces long most of the way, so one line in front, and one in back.

Quero – Quechua tropical jungle with 4 development. It’s right by our earlier additions of Cuzco, Ayaviri. West of Macaya. Wool is made here, has a temple , 0.10 money made

Macaya – 7 development, mountainous, both temple and barracks, grain, 0.21 money, west of Choquiabo, north of us in Puno and Ayaviri, east of Quero.

Chuquiabo – 8 develop, mountains, cloth is produced, marketplace and temple, 0.29 money, west of Charcas, north of Puno and Tiahuanaco, east of Macaya.

Charcas – Mountains, temple, 0.17 money, 52% autonomy, wool, 6 development, west of Choquechaca, east of Chuquiabo, and north of Oruro and Tiahuanuco

Choquechaca – Mountains, gold mines, temple, 0.11 money, just 5.9 unrest but 62 autonomy, on border with Calchaqui’s Sucre, 5 development, east of Charchas, north of Potosi and Oruro

Now we are heading back and doing the second front strip of land:

Tiahuanaco – Mountains, temple, 55% autonomy, 9 development, grain, 0.21 cash, east of Puno, west of Oruro, south of both Chuquiabo and Charcas

Oruro – 65.#% autonomy, 12.9% unrest, marketplace, copper mines, 5 development, 0.06 cash made, mountains, west of Potosi and Quillacas, east of Tiahuanuco, south of Charcas and Choquechaca

Potosi – gold mountains, 10 development, 0.35 mony made, 75% autonomy, 13% unrest, south of Choquechaca, north ofg Chichas, east of Quaillcacas, Oruro. On the border with Calchaqui’s Sucre

Quillacas – A little rump province south of the two strips, south of Potosi, Oruro, highlands, gold, temple, 5 development, 0.10 cash, 65% auto, 10.% unrest

Chichas –On the border with Calchaqui’s Sucre, Tarija and Santa Catalina provinces. Also next to Potosi and Quillacas. Mountains, 5 dev, 0.10 cash, 65% auto, 12.9% unrest, salt, temple.

And there we go. Whew!

One of my main armies will be in Chachas prepping for the next war.

I drop autonomy on all ten of those provinces and jack up my authority by 50!

Yeah we did!

Now we need to have The Potosi talk, Potosi is a miraculous province for a few reasons. The city of Potosi is very high up in the Andes. It’s one of the highest cities in the world by elevation (13540 feet). It’s up there. (Welcome to the Andes) .

Potosi is built by a mountain called the Cerro Rico, rich mountain. It’s rich. The mountain was rumored to be literally made of silver. It’s one the deepest, richest, silver mines in the world. In history. It was the major mine that funded the various Spanish treasure fleets and such. In fact, for decades, the Cerro Rico alone amounted for about 20% of silver production in the world.

In fact, the province of Potosi in EU4 has a bonus, Cerro Rico, the increases its production considerably. You can fund anything you need from it.

(Potosi became a common phrase in Spain and was mentioned in Don Quixote)

Check our Potosi on Wikipedia:

PotosÃ* - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As it states:

“Located in the Bolivian Tin Belt, Cerro Rico de Potosi is the world's largest silver deposit and has been mined since the sixteenth century, producing up to 60,000 tonnes by 1996, and estimates are that much silver still remains. Potosi became the second largest city, and the site of the first mint, in the Americas”

And now we have Potosi.

Here we are post war, with our four additions. Two major things of note. First ,check out the 9000 troops next to us in Tucuman province – that’s the Charrua tribe. I do have an Incan claim on them. You’ll also see our mega-high authority and we are gaining 5.5 annually so we’ll be playing that game again soon.

Also note that you can see all four of these:

Sucre – Mountains, Aimara, Inti, cloth, 0.3 made, 3.5% unrest, 40% autonomy, 10 development, east of our holdings of Potosi, Chichas and Choquechaca, and north of Tarija

Tarija – Not mountains or highlands but….grasslands! Wool, 6 dev, 0.16 cash made, 3.5% unrest, Inti, Aimara, south of Sucre, North of both Santa Catalina and Jujuy, and east of Chichas

Santa Catalina – These mountains 3 dev, shepherds make 0.06 are of Diaguita descent, and serve Inti, the great Sun God. 3.5 and 40% here too. Sotuh of Chichas and Tarija, and west of Jujuy

Jujuy – The former capital is north of the Charrua tribe, and south or east or both of Tarija and Santa Catalina. Mountains, Diaguita, 8 development, 012 money, wool, and 0% unrest. (Troops present)

1 Jan, 1526 – I’m beginning to find the previously undiscovered territory next to my new additions in Calchaqui

1 Mar _ I can now pass another reform but I am shifting my armies around to the center and north just in case they hit places up north

4 April – revolt in Tiahuanaco

16 April – Done

22 May – Let’s do it

Reform the Cult of Inti

While Inti, the sun, is the foremost of all of the gods of the Andes, the people also worship other Huacas. We must require all to acknowledge Inti as the main god, and the other idols turned in.

Yearly Legitimacy +0.5

14000 in Cuzco
13000 in Puno
9000 in Tucume

I have 12k in Canari I order to Tucume

I re organize my forces in th south

7 June – I knock the army out of Puno

23 June – Tucume falls

14 July – We win in Tucume

19 July – Tiahuanaco falls

25 July – Rebel army in the north is routed in Cajamarca

3 Aug – Tucume ours again

30 Aug – We win in Tiahuanaco

14 Sept – Army routed in Arica

8 Oct – Tiahuanaco is back to ours

Gold in Arequippa as well

2 Nov – I gain some DIP Power from investment chosen post-good year

8 Dec –I lose in Cuzco

11 Jan, 1527 – We win in Cuzco with a backup army

28 Jan – We rout the rebels in Ayaviri

1 Feb – Our 4 captured provinces are now all cores!

4 Aug – Now that I won’t be spending a lot of ADM moving forward, I change my national focus to admin again

28 Jan, 1528 – Natives joins the colony in Arequipa

29 May – We get a construction of a temple event for Chimbote. I fund it.

`15 June – Nobility lose 10 influence

We are currently making 1.56 gold monthly

30 Sept – I’m bored. I declare war on Charrua, Mapuche joins them

31 Oct – I beat their main army

30 Jan, 1529 – I rout the Cahrrua army in San Juan, the capital of Mapuche

The furthest south the Incan Empire expanded was to the Maule River. (Tucuman) but I have these claims on the tribes below us as inca, and they are in the Andes. The highest mountain in the world outside of Asia is south of Tucuman

17 Oct – Tucuman falls to us

17 Jan, 1530 – We take San Juan

We get:

Tucuman province - force religion to Inti
Mapuche is now our vassal

Tucuman – 11 development, Inti, Charruan, 0.16 money, 2.6% unrest but no autonomy, I order up a core, coffee is the trade good, mountainous, south of Santa Catalina and Jujuy. Soth of it is some unclaimed land, and then Guarani in La Rioja and our vassal Mapuche in San Juan

I begin to make good with Mapuche

6 Mar – I catch priests inciting unrest in Bogota. I slay the priests, rebellion in Bogota, and I gain 10 authority.

4 April – Rebellion ended. Tunja is the biggest province with revolt risk right now, so I had an army here just in case it got uppity laters

1 Sept – Arica is now a full colony! We finish the mission and gained some good stuff there. I order up a core for it.

Arica – Dev 6, coastal desert, gold, 0.29 made from it. Sotuh of Tiahuanaco and westish of Oruro. It’s also east along the coast of fellow colony Arequipa.

Next target?

It might be time for me to hit up the other side of South America in order to get to where the Europeans might be. I can’t upgrade my religion, or westernize, until I’m cored and next to one of their cores.

But I certainly don’t see any on the west coast of S America.

Hmm… There are the ones next to Tunja that I can do that are also on the border/coast and put Inca on the map:

Cartegena, Magdalena, Maracaibo,

Of those, Cartagena is the best,m but it’s tropical, so it would take longer to do. I send some colonists thought to grab it

Before I do that, I need a strategic target. Catamarca. South of Tucuman and next to Guarani’s La Rioja. I’ll send my colonist there to set up camp, and then pull it bck and set up shop in Cartagena permanently

I am swapping to a new native policy – Native Repression. It increases the frequency of the raids, but also increases global settler increase

1 Jan, 1531 – Huh. I have gained a force relocation CB against the Guarani tribe.

They stay in play, and I take their land, but then they head out somewhere else? Awesome!

3 Jan – I have a rebellion in Ayaviri, right where I have an army.

12 Jan -0ver

1 April – We set up shop in Cartagena. Arica is now a core

I can see a Scottish fleet in the Gulf of Darien. 3 ships That’s odd.

I don’t think anyone would have taken Scotland in the “First European You’ll See pool”

29 Sept – I get an event for growth in Huancavelica

1 Dec – Natives get uptight in Catamarca, but I have 11000 troops there, so that’s not happenig

25 Dec – Alright I want to take this CB for a spin. I declare a force relocation war against the Guarani

We are at war with 4 tribes. Carib, Tupinama and Tapuia – don’t know where they are.

29 Jan, 1532 – I defeat their army in the capital of La Rioja

21 June – Tucuman is now a core

1 Sept They moved their army behind our lines and I’m chasing it with another army

4 Dec – I spend some inflation in an vent to spend and invest in ADM infrastructure and gained power

20 Dec – I defeat them in Cuzco

20 Jan, 1533 – Another defeat in Ayaviri

4 Feb – I capture La Rioja

16 Feb – I win in Puno

I can’t get the land, I can just force them off. I don’t want that so I force them to change their religion and I get 144 gold

I can see the enemies we fought against.

1 Jan, 1535 – I order a Temple in Quito

22 May – I chose a national decision –

Encourage Divination - -1 National Unrest, and +5% stability cost

28 June – Disease strikes Cartagena

25 November – Our chief has died!

Stability drops

His son:

Yahuar Hacuac Huyla, 2/2/1
29

Takes over. Meh.

Our new prince

Huayna Capac, 2/2/1

I get an event to revert the guard, and get a free increase of stability and I revert them to the nobility

With his death, I get a Pancaca, funereal rites, and such. We can Mummify him, forget him, or elevate him to godhood. We mummify him and he takes his place over everyone and our authority increases 10,m and we spent some cash

You can see the end of our Inti excursion in Jujuy and then the adventures of Tucuman, Catamarca the colony, La Rioja and finally San Juan at the bottom. Note the 100 authority and high ADM power.

I take a mission to city-tize Cartagena

Cartagena – 9 development, tropical jungle, coast, Important Natural Harbor gives it bonus development, trade power and naval force limits. 0.39 to us. The people here work the sweet sweet sugar trade. West of Tunja, and around many unclaimed lands.

Next target should be up here as well.

Here’s a zoomed out map for you

You can Inca, and a few tribes in the South American area. I still have no idea where, if anywhere, there could be European colonies.

We have a forcelimit of 46 and 44 regiments.

We have one subject – Mapuche

Estates:

Clergy have 40 loyalty and 51 influence,

Merchants have 70 and 21

Nobility have 61 and 45

And we get bonuses for high loyalty.

1 May, 1545 – We get Native Assimilation in Catamarca

1 Oct – Catamarca

Since it takes just 16 ADM I’ll upgrade it to a core right now:

Catamarca – Mountains, wool, 5 development, connects La Rioja and Tucuman, and 0.16 money made from it

With that colony done, I’m now making an epic ton of cash – 12 gold a month

1 Jan, 1546 – I order my settlers in Maracaibo to recall so I can establish another colony, and then I’ll head back and help out.

I want to start cutting off the coast a bit down south.

I send colonists to Copiapo – Coastal Desert west of Larioja and Catamarca

15 April – I order a Temple for Huanuco

4 May – Catamarca is now a core

1 June – I get 200 free colonists in Puna de Atacama, which is east of Santa Catalina, Tucuman, Chichas and north of Catamaran, and west and inland of Copiapo. I send in some troops to help keep folks safe from the 500 natives there

1 Oct – Native assimilation in Maracaibo

1 Nov – Maracaibo is going to be a coffee producing colony.

23 Dec – We sell some more titles!

I order Temples in…

Arica
Cartagena

26 Feb, 1547 – I arrange some more marriages

1 May – Truces with the remaining tribes end

14 Oct – I force Mapuche to change their religion

Now that we are the same faith, I begin to annex them

13 June, 1548 – Hold onto your butts

Admin Tech 5 – Group of Ideas, +5% production

What do we choose?

Exploration Ideas? Get my first level right now, and crack another colonist. We can get Quest for the New World soon there after.Help me find-ish folks (just by land though)

Yeah, as I look at other stuff, it has to be Exploration Ideas

I spend 360 Dip to unlock Colonial Ventures. We get another colonist

I spend another 360 for Quest for the New World (I thought Ideas were 400 each? Did I get a bonus somewhere and forget? I didn’t think I could unlock two already!)

I can now recruit explorers and conquistadors!

I spend 50 mil to recruit a Conquistador!

Meet Quispe Titu Quilaco! I Give him at the head of the 4000 troops in Maracaibo and we’ll start by checking out places here, and then head east along the northern coast of the continent.

I order 2000 cavalry assembled to help out

I don’t have the cash to fund …wait…what happened there? Why am I now making 5.5 gold again? Is the 5% production bonus that big of a sweep? Ah yes, gold. Gold is production. So yes, I do have the cash.

I’m eyeing a few places. The best colony by development prospects is Antioquia, inland and between Cartagena and Tunja, with a 7 development potential. But why don’t I hold off until I’ve found a few places with the Conquistador that may be on the coast or in better places?

I’m going to skip all of my discoveries and only tell you if I find something interesting (people, good lands for colony, etc)

2 Aug – We have finished annexation of Mapuche

San Juan – Mountains, 4 dev, south og La Rioja, Animist and Mapuche culture, I send a missionary, already a cor,e 0.07 money, 60% autonomy, coffee made here. They gave us 2000 troops as well.

22 Aug – east of Maracaibo is Altagracia, a coastal, mountainous, tropical., 7 development land.

3 Oct – I see Portuguese Ships in the Venezuelan Gulf

27 Feb, 1549 – Why hello France. France is building a colony in the Orinoco Delta about four provinces down the coast from Maracaibo. I’m going to try to go inland and around Frnace ot keep exploring

10 May – I take a Convert San Juan to Inti mission

9 Dec – We have a year of exploring under our chest. I wanted to show you what I found thus far. It’s pretty open. There’s just the one French colony. But the closer I move to the tp, the more likely I am to find Europeans since the colonial range is reduced

19 July, 1550 – We find a Scottish province in Parnaiba. Fully built.

26 July – Four of my provinces get outbreaks of smallpox

14 Aug – The leader, Yahuar dies of smallpox:

Here I’ll show you the awesome/sucky event!

As you can see, we have a dead leader, and we have one of two heirs dead as well from disease.

Which side are we going to support in the war?

Both have good-ish leaders (Athualpa is 1/5/5 and Huascar is 5/3/4). Huascar is harder though. That event has 7 separate pretender armies that rise up vs the 5 for Atahualpa

I choose Huascar

We lose 40 legitimacy, 2 stability and we get:

10000 in Chicha
6000 in these: Puna de Atacama; Santa Catalina; Quillacas; Tarija; Potosi, and Sucre

Huascar is 20

The good news is that most of these are happening in the same region. Where I have troops waiting. I order my armies up and my 15k army in Ayaviri down

(This is exactly what happened in Inca before Spain took it down. Disease took down the majors, and the nation was warring in Civil War)

16 Sept – Tarija falls. Many others are going to as well, obviously

Sept 29 – I win in Catamarca after one left Puna.

1 Oct – I drive awa an arm in Santa Catalina

3 Nov – I win in Quillacas

7 Nov – Win in Tucoman

8 Nov - _ I grba back Santa

12 Nov – Win in La Rioja

20 Nov – I get an event about the new Huascar who’s not following a lot of traditions. I choose to placate the nobles and the stability rises

22 Nov – Army destroyed in Catamarca

26 Nov – Army destroyed in Oruro

15 Dec – New Heir to the throne – Tupac Yupanui, 5/3/3

1 Feb, 1551 – Three more provinces have fallen

15 Mar – I defeat an amry compelted in Charchas and its destroyed

30 June – All rebels defeated

13 July – I am offered a chance to set up a penal colony in Copiapo. I set it up

1 Aug – Native Assimilation in Maracaibo

21 Oct – The final province, Quillacas is ours again. Civil War is over

I get an event to end the war, and I choose to be conciliatory and gain another stability, at the cost of prestige

1 July – Maracaibo is self-sustaining.

I order colonists next door to Altagracia

Maracaibo – 5, grasslands, tropical, 0.22 money, coffee, coastal,

I’m going to start bring my Conquistador back to basecamp

2 Sept – Another outbreak of smallpox hits

1 Oct – I take turning Copiapo into a city as our next mission

24 Dec – Improvements in production Tech are here. We gain some ADM power

1 Jan, 1553 – Here’s a nice update for you:

You can see we’ve gone around the horn and are now coming back in the south. Only France and Scotland are here. France is now in the province of Cumana, just two down from us in Altagracia. It looks like France is going to be our good buddy here. I send a diplomat to make nice

1 June, 1556 –

Puna de Atacama – Grain, mountains, Core ordered, 3 development, 0.05 money, this former colony was between 5 of our holdings. I send the colonists here to:

Coquimbo – On the coast, south of colony Copiapo, west of San juan

Most of South America is pretty untainted by Europe right now. I’ll show you:

You can see the [places we have explored, the tribes we have found, the small French holdings, and the token Scottish one. You can see Central America’s borders as well. Also note the cash we’re holding onto, and the high ADM and MIL I have, getting ready for the next techs. We’re saving onto the money because the next tech brings in….Workshops!

28 Dec – We have a feud with noble families. I choose to let them fight it out and get 25% autonomy in Wankapampa, rather than get a revolt or drop or stability

21 Jan, 1557 – Puna fe Atacama is now a core part of the patrimony yof the Incan Empire

1 May – One of our military advisers passes. I hire level 1 Pomaguala Ninancoro, a reformer speed +33% guy

1 July – Admin Tech 6 – Workshop, We can build them

For example, France’s tech is 12/12/13

We are at 6/6/6. Barely better than the native tribes – they are at 554, 445, 355, 556 and then we have 656 and 676 in Mesoamerica

So we are right on target with everyone else, despite me throwing a bunch of cash at the problem with advisers and such

I order Workshops for:

Quito
Cauca
Bogota
Tucuman

(No workshops in gold provinces)

9 Jan, 1568 -I execute a dishonest bailiff and lose 10 prestige

1 Feb – New ADM Tech – Get ready – Noble Republic is allowed if you like and……new group of ideas!

We are in a strong place with Exploration - two more until completion. Now I cannot do another Diplomatic idea, the next needs to be Military or Admin.

One obvious place is Expansion. Grab it, and then use it to give me a 3rd colonist soon. We will begin to blaze through these colonies. But I don’t know how well I’ll handle that many colonies when I’m going through westernization and religion reform. Too much money.

Quanity Ideas – Military. I select it, and then I take

Levee en Masee - +50 manpower
We get -10% Deveopment Costs from our Inca idea that’s unlocked

And then spend more MIL to get

The Young can Serve +20% manpower recovery speed

24 June – Colonist Rush event

I want to use this event well (next ten years, +20% growth). I pull back my settlers in Picunmapu and send one to Mérida, mountains and tropical and inland and between Tunja, Maracaibo and Altagracia

1 Nov – Event – We consult the Oracle of Pachacamac

Favorable answer ensues

1 Jan, 1569 – Idea – Free Colonists - +1 colonist

I send this new colonist to help finish off Antioquia. I don’t have the cash for a 5th colony, I’m losing a bit on 4.

2 March –

Coro – 3 development, coastal grassland, east of Alltagracia, naval supplies are grabbed here, 0.07 made, core ordered. Tropical too

I order these settlers to Caracas, next to Cumana and France

The money I’ll make for these few months of 3 colonies pays for the loss and then some.

18 May – Assimilation in Merida

4 Nov – Coro is a Core-o

Wait…why am I making money with 4 colonies now after established Caracas? Is it cheaper to set up some colonies than others?

10 Nov – I send folks to start a colony from Antioquia to Camana. Camana is on the coast in our central area, south of Abancay, Ayaviri, and Puno, and west and up coast from Arequipa

10 Jan, 1570 – I maximize relations with France

1 Mar – Our great Conquistador who scouted an entire continent passes. Long may his shine over the Incan Empire!

8 July – I have another festival of the Sun event. We gain some prestige

3 Dec – Scotland has started a colony next to their one province on the far corner of Brazil.

11 Dec – Idea – Enforced Service - -10% Regiment costs

We also unlock the Quipu and get +10% national taxes from Incas

31 Jan – Huaraz gets +1 taxes and +2 stability issues

8 April – Frances war ends

15 Jan, 1572 – Improvements in military lead to some MIL tech arriving

1 June – Assimilation in Caracas.

Right now with our events, we are getting +80 or +90 a year (with or without tropical tags) and then those with settlers in them get a chance each month to get bonus folks. Caracas, with the assimilation is already at 424.

19 Aug – France sent out two more colonies in this area.

26 Nov – More outbreaks of diseases from European contact

1 Oct, 1573 – Scotland annexes a local tribe, the Tupinamba – they add their three provinces to their own

2 Dec – Let’s finish this thing. Global Empire -+25% naval force limits and we have now unlocked Exploration – We get a permanent CB against all primitives.

1 Ja, 1574 – 7 more provinces catch smallpox

19 Jan – I get a Good Government Policies event and bonus power in all three areas

DIP power for a while is going to be used to shift cultures

1 July – Change culture in La Rioja to Quechua

1 October –

Antioquia – 7 development, mountains, 0.41 money, coffee, core ordered, as I mentioned, the 7 development was about the best you could do right now, and now tropical to speak of either

And now I’m making money again

6 Oct – New Idea – The Old and the Infirm - -10% land maintenance modifier

1 Nov - That cut our costs considerably for a 46k strong army. So I order another colony. I recall Camana and send to Llanos. This is inland of Coro, Altagracia and Caracas, just 4, but I want to block off too much French expansion inland

4 May, 1575 – let me zoom in on our colonies so you can see.

You can see Llanos and Caracas in the center – my current colonies, right by France, in Cumana, and the other French holdings to the east. You can see Cartagena, Antoquia, the current colony of Merida (where the 7000 soldiers are) and more.

15 June – Antioquia is now a full core. I order a Workshop there.

7 Aug –

Merida – 6 development, tropical, mountains, coffee, 0.31 cash made here, core ordered, you just saw where it is. It was a nice inland province here.

Next target is…Mendoza. Totally money. South of San Juan, and east (inland) of Coquimbo and Picunmapu.

HERE WE GO FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!!

1 December – CARACAS

Caracas – Tropical Wood, tropical, jungle, west of France ‘s Cumana and east of Coro and north of Llanos. 0.09, 4 dev, and no one cares. Core ordered all night and day for it

I hold my colonists for a moment

5 Feb, 1576 – I hand Coro to my clergy estate

1 Mar – I merge two armies to make 12000 in Caracas and I order some artillery and cavalry in Coro

1 April –

Camana – Coastal Coffee, 5 development, mountains, 0.26,

I send colonists to Antofagasta. This is a coastal territory, very poorly developed, upstream from Copiapa. I want to close off the coast out here. I don’t want to go south of Picunmapu – the casts down coast and up the other is poor for a long time. 10 consecutive 3 development provinces. But I want to shut off the heart of my Empire.

9 April – Merida is now a core

France has gone to Hostile against us

2 august -

Caracas is now a core

I order a Reform of our Religion

WHOA!

I just gained 3 levels in each tech group. We are now 10/9/10

And I can Westernize as well

Our forces are now South American Cavalry, Defensive American Musketeers, and Culverin.

I can choose a new idea group from my techs.

I want to hold off. I can get any ADM one and then 3 ideas right now. But that’d slow down my Westernization

2 Aug – We begin the Westernization Process

Here’s what happens:

-3 Stability
+5% national unrest
+50% advisor costs

We spend power each turn until we westernize, and we’ll get some nasty events. Got to be strong

I increase our stability by 2

I am rebuilding my army from swapping over ot new units

2 Sept- We gained a thing – The Conquest of Pachacamac, +1 missionaries and +1 yearly prestige

28 Dec – Camana is a core

1 Jan, 1577 – Workshops for Merida and zCamana

25 April – I get an event – Advisers Resist Westernization. I ignore their demands and our stability drops

2 May – Picunmapu – 4 development, 0.07 money, mountains, coastal, important harbor, fish, core ordere, probably as far south as I’m going for a while

5 Sept – Down to just three colonies, I’m making real money

What did I get from my tech advances. Anything of note?

Nothing too major, unfortunately

11 Dec – Picunmapu is a core

2 Jan, 1578 – I order a castle in Caracas

23 Jan – Whoa! Great event! Excellent Minister. I get a bunch of powe,r prestige, and stability if I invest administratively. And I do

21 April – People resist Westernization. I ignore them and lose 30 legitimacy

4 July – Mendoza, the colony, pipes in 200 marriage women and gains a taxbase

1 Nov – Workshop in Coquimbo

24 April, 1579 – Nobles resist. I ignore them. Rebellion in Abancay

7 June – They take Abancay

4 July – La Rioja now Quechay culture

17 Aug – We defeat the rebels

17 Sept – Abancay ours again

There is now a colonial nation – French Colombia. France declares war on us, and their Colonial Nation joins them. We have a ton of troops and I order them from Caracas to Cumana

21 Jan, 1580 – The Dutch join the French in an alliance

I don’t see any major French troops here so I have begun a siege of Cumana, their capital

1 Mar – Mendoza is now self-sustaining

Mendoza - Mountains, 7 dev, 0.23 gold made, wool, south of San Juan and east of both Coquimbo and Pincumapu, and probably the southern most point here for a while.

My next target is Calama, a 3 development one up the coast from Antofagasta and west of Chichas and Quillacas

21 April – We lose another stability when I refuse my advisers again

30 April – I take Orinco Delta

22 June – I capture, and then burn down a French colony – Guasipati

8 July – Castle built in Caracas

15 July – 16000 French Troops land in Caracas.

I have 18 k there

I order a general

Here’s a comparison – They have 14 military, and I have 10

They are moving to oust us from Cumana

They pull back when they see my force coming in and change their positioning. Probably didn't want to get caught between the Cumana siege force of 16k and my force of 15k coming up from Merida

France has 76000 troops and French Colombia has none. But we have 46000. And I have around half up there

19 July – Cumana falls (It only had 400 in the garrison)

9 Aug – I capture Pirara and burn it to the ground as well

15 Sept – I have 28k troops in the Delta I begin to move towards the French army

20 Sept – Demarra is captured by my 8000 force

3 Oct – Mendoza is a core

9 Dec – I defeat their army in Demerrara

I also captured Essequibo

18 Jan, 1581 – I win in Paramaribo against their army

I combined all three forces and around 33k to do it

3 Feb – They have set up another colony in Guisipati

21 Feb – Paramabibo is our sand we now hold every French Colombia holding

27 Feb – France lands 15k troops in Cumana

23 April – I lose another 30 legitimacy

21 June - After a bunch of ping-ponging and their reinforcements, I have managed to defeat them a few more times.

22 Aug – I finally rout the armies. I lose 14000 troops doing it though.

9 Sept – I capture their colony again. I have a 40% warscore

I burn the colony after they won’t give me peace

Eventually France is just going to turn their full on attention to me

The ledger says that France is down to 57000 troops and 75k manpower. Not a major hit

20 Oct – I invest in a stability increase

25 Nov – 7k more troops land in Caracas

23 Jan – I offer a Monopoly Company to form, and I get 740 gold from it!

I order some more troops built

24 April – More legi lost

19 May – Army routed, all good

47% war score. You are going to have to commit more than that to faze me!

Will they take peace now? Umm a white one.

Wow they just don’t care about this colony. To take every one of the five holdings in Brazil is just a 5 warscore. I can take 4. I hold out. I would love to drive France out of South America all together is all they are going to do is attack me!

June 24 – 10000 troops are getting ready to land in Caracas. This may be my chance ot end the war in our favor if no more come. I have 27k and growing

8 Sept – We win in Caracas

3 Oct – Now France is done

I get:

376 gold
Cumana, Essquibo, Demeraram Paramaribo, and Orinoco Delta

As a defender, we gained a crap ton of prestige

Map of the captured stuff:

You can see the various provinces we took, the standing armies I have to the east in Caracas and around it, and more. No way I’d be able to beat France man-to-man, but they couldn’t commit. Why not?

I was looking at armies. I was looking in the wrong place. France has a navy of 35 ships, 15 of which are transports. That’s why the most they brought over was 15k that one time. They just had the one fleet available to ferry troops from wherever they were coming

So how did I beat France just now? Well a few reasons:

1). France declared war at the wrong time. They had no troops on the ground. If they had waited, built up a large army of 30-40k troops, I would have been done for. They could have written their ticket. But they didn’t. They just thought they could beast us by decree, rather then by strategy
2). They assumed the tech difference would swing the war in their favor. It didn’t 10 vs 14 is winnable. I was willing to through everything I had at winning the war and had 75% of my forces there. They didn’t.
3). They attacked me first in close battles, and in doing so, gave me an early advantage in he campaign as I was able to dictate battlefields.
4). This was not some chump army. I had 2000 cannon and 4000 cavalry in the 16k army I kept in Caracas for a rainy day. I also had 8k in the force and 14k in Bogota I could bring in. But 6000 non-infantry is something you need to account for.

5). This was the right era for a colonial victory over Europe.

Take the Inca as a good historical example. After they were discovered and scouted by the Spanish, a conquest of less than 1000 troops arrived. After discovery, massive smallpox had hit the nation, devastating it, and then both the leader and heir died in that disease. The nation, torn in two by civil war and devastated by disease, was easier pickings than would otherwise have been expected. The Spanish were able to talk their ways out of battles that would have been lost, and convinced locals to join and they had around 10000 local troops on their side for the major battles. They got lucky. They had technology as their only saving grace, with huge numbers of losses. Well I have cavalry I got from Europe by bringing in horses, and I have cannon myself over the decades of them being in the area.

So if a colonial power was to beat Europe, this is the right time.

Meanwhile, I did something I certainly didn’t expect to do. I sort of expected to concede Brazil., Argentina and the north/east coast and areas of the continent while keeping close to the west side for ourselves. But I moved over to Caracas to get close to France, and now they annoyed me very quickly thereafter and I kicked them out. And frankly, I’m not sure that France will come back here. They are liable to find a place with less bite. While there are powers in the Caribbean and I’m sure elsewhere, only Scotland is in South America right now, and that’s the Scottish Brazil colonial nation. If I keep colonizng the coastal areas here, will I keep everyone else away?

Imagine if in real life a colonial nation (not just a small colony or trading post, but a full nation) was taken and driven back and captured ad won against a European colonial power. How would the world respond? They could leave well enough alone and move on. That’s not unlikely. Or they could come back twice as angry. No one defeats God’s divine troops!

I have no idea how Europe will take it. But it doesn’t look good for France to attack, and then get driven off the continent and lose everything .

Anyway, Its good I have two missionaries nw. I need to convert these Catholic heathens to the proper way of worshipping and honoring multiple gods. I have to remind them of what the rest of the world already knows.

Westernization is not harmed by kicking France away from our castle

In other news, I have a metric ton of cash. Should I hold onto it until manufactories come online?

I order up some cores at the cost of around 30 power per province.

Our new stuff:

Cumana – Grasslands, Catholic, Francien, 0.06 taxes made, 21% unrest, 50% autonomy, coffee, coastal, tropical, west of Orincoc Delta and east of Caracas. 4 development

Orinoco Delta – Protestant, Francien, 21.4% unrest, 50% autonomy, sugar, tropical. Marsh, 4 development, 0.01 cash made, west of Essequibo, east of Cumana.

Essequibo – Jungle, tropical, 3 development, fish, 1.5 unrest, 50 autonomy, Francien, Catholic, 0.02 cash, west of Demerara and east of Orincoc Delta

Demerara – Catholic Francien, tropical wood, jungle, tropical, 3 dev, 0.01, 17.5% unrest, 50% autonomy, west of Paramaribo and east of Essequibo

6 Jan, 1583 – We’re in an odd place for a Westernization project. We are well into it. 27.7% done, and but I am still gaining tech. Which is not something I’ve seen before. Now we’re gaining it slowly. But we are gaining.

So;

Quantity Idea #5 – Mercenary Contracts+25% available mercs and…

We unlock this Inca bonus – Drafted Hatun Runas ,+10% manpower, and +2.5% discipline

1 Mar – I give the Clergy Estates Essequibo and Demerara

13 April – I take a national decision for us moving forward:

Inti Prostelyzation - +2 Missionary Strength

24 April – Nobles Resist Westernization

I get a revolt in Tumbes

1 June – Tumbes falls

4 Aug – We defeat the rebels

7 Sept – We retake Tumbes

I don’t know how. But France has chosen to restart their colony in Guasipati, which is inland of the Delta and Essequibo and not on the coast.

1 Nov – Let’s commit:

I take a new Idea:

Economic Ideas –

I buy:

Bureaucracy – 10% national taxes
Organized Construction - -10% build cost
National Bank – Inflation is reduced by 0.1 annually

We unlocked the Mit’a system Inca idea and get -10% build cost again

1 January 1584 –

Antofagasta – 3 development, coastal desert, wool, 0.08 ducats, core ordered, south of Camana, north of Copiapo, and west of Puna de Atacama

24 April – Reactionaries reject Westernization. Rebellion of 7000 forces I Iquique

12 May – They die ot our forces there

1 Aug – I ordre a temple in Altagracia

9 Aug – Antofagasta is now a core

I order my Caran cultures turned to Quechua

10 Sept – Growth in Abanacay gets it some more taxbase but worse unrest

Llanos – Core ordered, savannah, 4 dev, sugar here, 0.16, inland and south of Coro, Caracas, Atlagracia, and tropical.

I order these folks into another vacted French colony we burned down to see if I can beat them I suppose. Pirara, inland if Essequibo west of Demerara and east of France;s Guasipati. I’ts not very hot though.

27 April – Reactionaries rebel in Catamaraca. I order my army in Mendoza ot head over and smash them

15 June – Slain

12 Aug – Cores completed in the 5 French takings. I order up missionaries for Cumana and the Delta

15 Aug – Assimilation in Calama

5 Dec – Llanos is a core too

31 Jan, 1586 – We get a poor copper event and our artillery costs increase by 20% for a while

1 Feb – Revolt in Cumana!

9 Feb – We put it down (I moved my main army in the north from Caracas to adjunct Cumana)

24 April – I get a new one – Provinces get westernization resistances, and we do get -1 unrest, but +0.5 monthly autonomy change. For ten years

1 Jan, 1587 –

Econ Idea #4 – Debt and Loans - -1 interest per year

18 Jan – Assimilation in Pirara

3 Mar –

Calama – Coastal desert, 0.08 gold, 3 dev, wool, north of Antofagasta, south of Iquique and east of Chichas and Quillacas .

Our next target is Nazca – Coastal, south of Abancay and east of Lima. It’s the final province that allows me to control the whole coast from Picunmapu all the way up to Cauca by Muisca.

24 April – I lose more Legitimacy

1 July – So apparently the Delta is next to Trinidad and can go there without boats. And it’s unclaimed and rocks 10 development. I pull a colonist from Iquique and send it here!

7 Nov – Calama is a core
