It'll be interesting to see who attempts to build an option FB team, vs a traditional pro style. I think for this purpose, it's really hard to say what would be more effective.

Elway was the only player I consider with Chamberlain, so good pick.

2.8 Canton Raiders, Hakeem Olajuwon, Basketball, Retired
Was a top goalkeeping prospect in Nigeria until he elected to play basketball. Sorry for the delay. Last edited by jbergey22 : 05-10-2010 at 11:17 PM. Reason: added team name |

With his great footwork I see no reason he couldnt be a solid left tackle for my team as well

Love the Hakeem pick. I had a full writeup done on Hakeem before I decided that the only reason I was taking another basketball player was specifically to counter the idea that a generic Wilt + others could beat Jordan + others, and if I'm gonna counter Wilt, I need to just go ahead and do it with Russell. But Hakeem is a great pick IMO.

I like how you are going about countering that argument by drafting who a lot of people consider was a better center than Wilt This is going to be fun. The possibilities are endless. |

I am just trying to picture Shaq playing both ways on the football field or 90 minutes of soccer.
That is going to be the hardest part IMO. Finding the guys that are big enough to play on the offensive/defensive lines in football while being in shape enough to play 90 minutes of soccer. |

That's one of the reason I took Chamberlain, he ran track and marathons and has the endurance to contribute at both football and soccer. Shaq will be a soccer liability.

Don't forget that you have two soccer reserves that will only have to play 5 minutes.

Play Shaq as a towering striker, he won't need to track back. Teach him to head the ball and get someone who can put in some good crosses.

Running an off-sides trap with Shaq as an opposing striker would be WAY too easy.

ColtCrazy is being timed. He has until 10:44 pm tonight until he gets skipped, and then he'll be on a one hour clock for the rest of the draft.

Why 10:44, if you don't mind me asking? I don't really care how fast or slow this goes (I know I'm in the minority party on that), but I'm just curious as to the algorithm.

24 hours from the most recent pick. I stated earlier that you'd get one 24 hour period, then you'd be on a one hour clock.

I will quietly protest the 24 hour deadline, particularly when he hasn't been online since Sunday - but I'm trying to not be a negative force in this draft, so I'll leave it at that.

I can understand that, but I did set the 24 hour limit beforehand and I'm against changing a rule and applying it retroactively. It is unfortunate, but if we can wait out this period, then he'll be on a short leash for the rest of the draft. Then if he misses his one hour clock on the next pick, I will find a replacement owner.

3.2, The Jacks, Lou Gehrig, retired, baseball
Even with my limited baseball background, I know Gehrig is considered one of the best baseball players ever. I may have an old team, but the guys I have could have competed in any era. |

3.3 Dave DeBusschere, Canton Raiders, Basketball, Retired
Named one of the top 50 basketball players in the NBA. Is a Hall of Famer and also pitched for the Chicago White Sox. With his hard nose style of play I have no doubt it would translate well on to the gridiron and the pitch. |

Agreed. One reason I took Gehrig since he did some pitching as well. One question, though, will our pitcher hit or do we have a DH? Just curious. |

However, something you might want to consider, in the interest of fairness:
All four of your starters will be in the regular rotation. You can't slot someone as Pitcher and then say he'll never pitch because your 1B is in the rotation instead. Likewise, all of your position players will be regular starters. If you want your strong hitting pitcher to always be in the lineup, that's fine, but he can't always be the SS, because then your real SS wouldn't be a regular starter. So if you plan to use this strategy, you'll want to make the case (to the voters) that your pitcher is subbing at multple positions throughout the "season".
