Have to count me out, probably looking at mid-week internet at the earliest, and the scope of this game will make it very hard to follow entirely on a phone. Have fun!

Dear god, the aliens have landed! The aliens have landed! Hell bent on conquering the galaxy, the universe, hell bent on becoming the new masters of time and space, a loose alliance of monsters, aliens, and even their human pawns have gathered to remove the one true threat to their dominion - The Doctor.

Of course, truth be told, while the Doctor has a long history of saving the day, he has an equally long record of causing just as much mayhem as he fixes. He's going to need some help, jumping across time and space, trying to find the source of this latest threat to the universe. And as usual, many humans will die in the process. The Doctor? He regenerates, usually into something humanoid, but who knows? Maybe this time, he'll turn into a hamster. Or a chicken. Or perhaps even sentient cheese.

The TARDIS has landed. The Doctor and his entourage have arrived...in the future? No, wait! It's not the future, it's 1987! Very easy mistake, since we all know the future looks exactly like the 80's. Parachute pants, neon green, and some massive freakin' hair abound.

We are in the MODERN Era, and Day 1 commences.

Based on the number of players, I'd guess we have all roles and 5 wolves, so that leaves us with 8 roled villagers, 3 roled wolves, 2 vanilla wolves and 8 vanilla villagers.

Coffee, can you confirm or not if all roles are in the game? And if not, can you tell us whether the wolves know what if any roles are not in the game?

All roles posted are in the game, among others not posted.

Edit: I won't be AS cagey as that. But yes, all roles are in the game. There is, however, no such thing as a totally vanilla villager. Everyone can do SOMETHING.

Here we go again.

Here are my thoughts on picking a time era. My suspicion is if we laid out all the time-related powers for good and bad guys there would be an 'optimal' choice of what era we should be aiming for. Obviously that won't be happening, so in my opinion, until we have some additional information on the subject, we have to go by what we know publicly. So that said, looking at the rules, here's what I can see for each era:

Ancient: BG's "bodyguard power does not work during the Ancient Era." Con for village.
Medieval: No information based on public info (other than Count (Medieval Era) (and here's a hint - he ain't a duke, he's a count!), but I don't think that's good or bad).
Industrial: No information based on public info
Modern: Cybermen find it easy to hide in modern times, and scans of Cyber Leader (wolf converter) will show as Human in the Modern Era. Con for village.
Future: Dalek Kahn (aka brutal wolf) finds it easy to hide in places of high technology, and scans made in the Future Era will show him as Human. Con for village.

So from what we know, being in the Modern or Future era degrades the ability of whatever role(s) we might have with scanning ability while being in the Ancient era completely nullifies our BG (at least the one we know of). Based on that, unless someone has something compelling to offer, I would suggest we head for either the Medieval era or Industrial era. Not really having a preference or inclination as to which would be better, I'll go with Industrial based on the listed Tycoon role sounding like it could have a more interesting power than Count.

Good breakdown Jag. I will vote the same as I see no reason to split between the two optimal choices and risk hidden powers causing us to go to a worse time era.

I'm down for industrial although I question if it is really that cut and dry. I have no clue what a tycoon does but I was wondering aloud how powerful the scientist and captain must be to balance out the public cunning wolf roles in their time.

A couple of notes that I have thought of:

1: The Cyberman though bad might not work in connection with the others. the Cyber leader (I wonder if it should be a Cyber King) sounds like the leader of a cult

2: We know through CW's disscussion that everyone can do something. Do we assume the "vanilla" wolves can too?

2a: if so would these fit along with these other time lines?

Fits in with my own thinking. I guess there might be other powers that play in but at the moment we have to work with the info we have.

Just looking through it seems that the ability to convert is a huge bonus to the baddies. With a cunning thrown into the mix then we need whoever has a seer role to be hitting wolves - "clearing" villagers isn't all that useful.

So if the seer could make sure that he only scans wolves that would be useful. Ta very much.

Yeah that logic seems very sound to me. I think we should just shuttle between industrial and medieval, at least until we get something revealed about the other ages.

Based on JAGs initial analysis, I see no reason to risk the time period until we find out more:

Not sure if this is a generic statement, or more specific to Dr Who universe (Whoville?) - but what makes you think they may not work together?

well the idea of him changing innocent humans. it sounded like it was an ability that can happen more than once. and if it is such an ability. then the role sounds more like the role of a cult. So it is a more generic statement. If that is the case it makes the Cybermen more scary than they already are. I hope I am wrong and it is only a one time deal, but I think it is at least a possibility we should think about being there.

That would be Randy "Macho Man" Savage, friend/tag partner/enemy of Hulk Hogan (also in the picture). Randy Savage playing the Master would be brilliant. Or crap. Probably crap. But still.

I think this is the 80s Master.

Couple of questions.

For the time travel. It says that there will be an announcment for what time period we are in after the night actions are processed.

In that case, what time period are we in for today's actions? How does this affect players' abilities for today?

Thank you. I was re-reading the rules a few times thinking it would be in there. Completely missed the startup post.

I kind of like the 80's, can't we just stay there? I was young back then.

I don't think this is as straight forward as people believe for the time period. Asking myself if I were GM: the way that I would try to get the group to chose a time period that could yield the most interesting results; I would do just as CW has, provided one that appears to be the clearest time period to choose.
