It's working for me. Sometimes the site gets a little quirky and goes haywire. Just wait a few minutes, refresh, and try again.
Wade, I sent you a contract offer. I'll send contracts to your players tonight when I get home, so start listing them. We have a starting C, 1B, and 3B, and only 3 Pitchers right now. So we need a lot of positions to be filled. I'd like to have a full roster by the first game (Friday). Make sure you guys use all of your training as a Draftee. Once you join a team you train 50% slower. So use all your $1000 to train, and then I'll send you an offer. You also get 15 "free" points to attributes. Some people are spending them right away and others holding off ("slowbuilding") on using these which is fine. Once you're done with your training, I'll send contracts. I woke up this morning and there have been 27 OWNERS who have brought teams in just 1 day. The USA Pro league (Major League) has just 6 or so teams left for ownership. Really incredible considering yesterday morning the place was DEAD. Despite the hiccups a lot of people are excited for the game. Ryan, the developer is squashing the bugs as soon as they are reported and really making an effort to get the game up and running. Looking promising... Sent. Finish your training before you accept it though... spend all the money now as a draftee or else it'll be harder to gain attribute points. Just keep hitting the back button and re-click if you get that message. Last edited by JohnnyBGood : 04-30-2009 at 12:14 PM. |

Offer sent. Like lordscarlet, make sure you spend all your money on training before you accept. I have to run, will be back late tonight to check on this thread. For new players, if you want to join Seattle we still need starters at: 2B, SS, LF, RF and a whole bunch of pitchers. Need backups everywhere except 1B. |

Nunzio Santoni is a 3B. If I can get out of my CPU contract, I'd join an FOFC team.

I haven't been able to do anything all day because of this. Someone underestimated demand (I'm guessing by a LOT, based on the error message and some assumptions I am making based on it) and is going to lose a lot of money because of it, I think.

That is just a simple configuration change. By default, it is set to 100 connections, and it sounds like they are running with the default setting.

Seems like every one or two clicks I get some sort of error, and stuff sometimes works and sometimes doesn't I clicked on my player page saw some skill training thing. Picked a skill to train, but the Start Training button wasn't enabled. Then I tried to check my Inbox, got an error... returned to the skill training thing, and the button was now enabled with some time beside it. Really frustrating clicking around in this game.

My assumption was either what you said, or that they are running on a shared host (eek!). Quote:
I think one of the reasons things don't work sometimes is because they are using AJAX. And if the AJAX request gets the connections error, it does not receive a response.

This site is like 2 or 3 days old yet, and in Beta, right? Seems like this is all pretty normal for a new site.

This is not normal for a new site. Perhaps for someone's blog that they put on a shared server. For a game that is in "open beta" and accepting payment to use the game, I expect a lot more. It's not like you hit a problem now and then.. I would say I can load the page 1 in every.. 20 or 30 tries.

They really shouldn't be accepting payment yet for these reasons, but it seems like these are the very problems you would want an open beta to bring to light...especially if this is a first-time game attempt. If this person/group has other web games out, then I'd say the problems should have been caught earlier. |

Checking in...
I'm having problems connecting too. Honestly, I think Ryan is overwhelmed right now. I doubt he expected the game to get so big so early. One day and 2000 users is pretty incredible. The game went viral and within hours he was getting slammed. I don't think he anticipated it going viral and he should have been more prepared, but its a good problem for him and the game... it means that there is already a large and anxious user base. He's working on it now... lets give it time as he is moving everything to a better server. Via his twitter: Quote:

Offer sent to Arles Cruiser, Bob Summers, and Deacon Palmer. Just to reiterate, make sure you guys complete your training in full prior to accepting the offer, that way you get the full training bonus.
Here is how we look right now: SP - Shaun Lord (MMOB holdover) SP - Moe Jolley (rjolley, FOFC) SP - PENDING SP - OPEN SP - OPEN MR - Scott Downs (MMOB holdover) MR - OPEN MR - OPEN Closer - OPEN -------------------------------------------------------- Lineup Catcher - Ryan Andrews (Yours truly) bC - OPEN 1B - Ras Both (Rishtinka, MMOB player) b1B - Willie Makeit (snowman, MMO player) 2B - Deacon Palmer (ntndeacon, FOFC) b2B - OPEN SS - OPEN ---- We need a SS bad. Someone want to make a Speedy, Defensive, Contact SS? Think Eckstein. bSS - OPEN 3B - Lira Dint (Ellix, MMOB player) b3B - OPEN LF - Bob Summers (mrkilla, FOFC) - PENDING bLF - -Bubba the Hutt- (bubba the Hutt, MMOB holdover) CF - Dan Schoonover (DanGarion, FOFC) bCF - OPEN RF - Arles Cruiser (Arles, FOFC) bRF - OPEN "Pending" means awaiting contract acceptance or reserved. Also, there were some players who accepted offers from the CPU before I bought the team. Their roster spot has been kept so long as they completed their training. The others were cut. We have an active team-only forum. I made some suggestions for SS and CF, just as a guideline to complement the roster so far. Feel free to create them to your own liking though, I will still add you. Oh, and once you accept the offer, click the link on the left sidebar for "My Team Forum" and meet your teammates. Keep them coming, guys. New players please use my referral link to join and then tell me who your players are so you I can send you a contract : http://www.mmobaseball.com/createaccount.aspx?ref=48 Last edited by JohnnyBGood : 05-01-2009 at 03:54 PM. If you aren't sure how, go to your player screen and on the bottom select an attribute to train for in "player training" menu. Edit: The site is brutally slow right now. Hopefully it is on the new server by tomorrow morning. Last edited by JohnnyBGood : 05-01-2009 at 12:59 AM. |

I'll accept the offer when I'm done training. I have $300 left with 10 batting coordination, 20 batting power, 7 speed and the rest are defaults. Not sure what matters in this game, but I figure going with the two main batting stats won't hurt from RF.

I went ahead and bought equipment. npt sure that was the best move. though stats there do not seem to stack on each other. just the highest per category is used.

Server seems to be running well this morning. Who knows if that's just low traffic or if there were changes made..
FYI.....noticed there's a bug reported that if you have $100 and you attempt to train with that last $100, it deducts the money but does not credit the training to your player. So you might want to hold on to that last $100. Also, I noticed that the makers of Goal Line Blitz are threatening a lawsuit for copyright infringement against the makers of this game. I've never played GLB, so I'm not sure if there's any merit to the case. Last edited by Mizzou B-ball fan : 05-01-2009 at 08:21 AM. |

That's rjolley, not mjolley for Moe Jolley.
And I have a RF, Timothy Sheppard, that's available and can be the backup, if needed. |

Starting an open beta on a game like this on a shared server is completely unacceptable. 2,000 users is a very small number. I'm not sure why people are apologizing for this. If he can't handle 2,000 users he shouldn't open the beta up to anyone on the internet. Also, my plan is to develop a closer, if I can figure out the right attributres.. And, you know, if I can get to the site. Which has the Service Unavailable message again.
