Martínez No-Hits Cleveland
Saturday, September 20th, 2059: Spring is abuzz in the wake of a masterful no-hitter by José Martínez against the Cleveland Naps. In a dominating 4-0 performance at Morales Field II, the 25-year-old hurler had 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. Not one batter managed a hit.

The Cleveland manager said after the game, "You could tell early on it was going to be a long day for us. He made us look real bad. He was that good. And still going strong at the end of the game."

"Yeah, this was a special day for me," said Martínez. "I had my good stuff and good movement... good location, too. Even when I was off and made a mistake, I got away with it today."

Martínez has fashioned a 15-6 mark for the season, 3.48 ERA and thrown 178.1 innings in 30 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .260 against him.

Jose Martinez' no-hitter is the first for a Spring pitcher since Dough McDonah did so 29 seasons ago!

At this point I picture Eddie is pretty upset at his squad. Maricopa has gone 30-43 since July 1st. Thats not very good!

Luckily I'm at work otherwise the words that would be shouted at my team wouldn't be work appropriate.

Collins Goes on Rampage Against Legends
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2059: Today the Axemen downed the Legends 17-0 as Steve Collins sprayed hits all over The Beaver Den in a 6-hit explosion, finishing with 6 hits in 6 at-bats.

The Portland right fielder said to reporters in the postgame interview, "It makes it easier if you get a good pitch. The odds are in your favor then, not the pitcher's. I got a bunch of very pretty pitches to hit today and I didn't miss any of them."

Steve Collins singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Blake Galpin in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a two-run single in the 7th.

On the year Collins is hitting .288 with 197 hits, 7 home runs, 60 RBIs, .334 OBP and has scored 111 runs.

Harrison Touches All Bases, Hits for Cycle
Monday, September 29th, 2059: "To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple and home run in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. John Harrison grabbed a piece of baseball history today when he hit for the cycle. Harrison went 4 for 6 with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored against Cleveland, leading the Portland Axemen to a 13-10 win at Ballpark of Cleveland.

"I felt comfortable at the plate in a way I haven't felt all season," Harrison said after the game. "It was like they were throwing beach balls at me. The ball seemed that big to me. And it just floated in."

John Harrison hit a two-run home run off Alonso Luna in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.

So far this year Harrison has hit .289 with 24 home runs, 106 RBIs and 86 runs scored.

Washington and Stafford finish the regular season tied for the final playoff spot. As we always do when there is a tie for the final playoff spot, we'll play a best of three series between these two teams. Washington led the regular season series with Stafford 16-7 so will have homefield advantage in this best of three.

Members Only: Ruíz Joins .400 Club
Wednesday, October 8th, 2059: Add the name Raúl Ruíz to the list of baseball players to hit .400 or better in a single season. The Spring first baseman joined that elite group by hitting a jaw-dropping .402 this year.

"To be mentioned among baseball's immortals," said Ruíz, "is beyond my wildest dreams."

Ruíz's 189 hits included 39 doubles, 3 triples and 36 home runs. He also scored 107 runs and batted in 125.

Ruiz is the first player in league history to hit over .400 for a season!

He broke the previous record from Kevin Belcham of .398 which was set back in 1963!

Ruiz hit .456 in August and .500 in September to make it to the .400 mark!

Hector Palmeiro hits .205 with 27 HR and 77 RBI this season to set the all time career home run mark at 723!

Now once again the question will be if he will decide to retire after the season or try one more year!

Wow, great season for my Lions there. All kinds of individual honors and tops in the RL to boot. Congrats fellow playoff peeps!

I expected a .500 season this year...and that's exactly what I got. Rad!

Then I was most interested in Sheffield and Gois, the two rookie wonders. Good to see Sheffield 2nd in the FOOLX in K's! And Gois won a RotM...awesome!

This season was therefore a success

And we've got the top batting prospect and the top pitching prospect in the league. Both players will be in Ann Arbor next year. I'd say our future is bright

Wow, the AI has just crapped on both of my franchises. I am beginning to become extremely annoyed at the lack of progress Sager is making in completing my new laptop and getting it out to me.

Look at it this way...at least the AI is getting you some sweet draft picks!!! (although it will then release those draft picks to free agency...)
