This was my take. From the context of Autumn's post, I believe we have to find all the materials first. Then I figured it was a matter of puzzling out how to assemble a seaworthy craft. Teamwork, I figure, is a no-brainer. |

To be clear, the boat materials will be there assembled for you at the challenge, however they will be the type of things you have around the camp site area anyway.

Ummmmm, sounds like way too specific to me lol. All i think Autumn is looking for is which 4 are rowing an which 3 are constructing the ladder. maybe, and that's a big maybe, he needs a torchgrabber too.
Well that's my 2 cents, wouldn't be a team player if I didn't voice my opinion. Like I said I'll be constructing :-)

The 4:30 deadline is fast approaching. Please get your PMs into Autumn. To my knowledge, this remains accurate. Also, Thomkal is the torch-grabber and I will hold the torch in the canoe while he does the hard work. Are there any objections to this? Does anyone have any additional thoughts? If not, good luck everyone! Let's kick some Wolves in the tail! |

DAY ONE CHALLENGE
Boats & Ladders
The two tribes assemble for a challenge for the first time in this season of Survivor. Starting on their own beaches, across the bay from each other, each tribe waits for the call and then bursts into action. Their first task, build a boat that will help them reach the center of the bay where a lit torch awaits them. All seven tribe members help, taking the vines, bamboo, coconuts and other materials that have been assembled for them and attempting to form it into a craft. The task is clearly a challenge for some, while others jump right into fashioning something. Both beaches are filled with the sounds of the tribe members calling to each other heatedly, grabbing at materials and directing each other, sometimes to contradictory effect. The Villagers are the first to make some progress, their boat taking shape while the Werewolves are still attempting to find an initial structure. While Hoopsguy is at a loss and contents himself to back on the villager beach, handing materials to others as he can, the others seem to get on the same page, Darth Vilus and Chesapeake leading the design and getting the raft finished. The Werewolves struggle to keep up the pace, J23, Jackal and Greyroofoo all getting their hands into the construction, but the others less sure how to proceed. Things seem dire as the Villagers are pulling far ahead, but SnDvls pulls the group together keeping the various builders from going in different directions and lining the materials up for them. With his efforts the Werewolves get their craft into the water only shortly after the Villagers. |

My takeaway from what I read so far is that the extra attention to detail in the orders has been useful.
And that my physical might doesn't translate as smoothly to rowing as I would have expected. Maybe a MMA-style competition would be more my speed? Grrr ... sucks. Hopefully we still take this home. |

Nice win today guys.
Any suggestions on what needs to get done around camp? Let's make sure we've got our bases covered in terms of camp and food. Having fire should give us a nice advantage, let's try to build that even further and bury these guys quickly.

Great work, tribe! We really stuck it to those jokers.
After an initial read through the event, it looks like either all the wolves pm'ed that they would grab the torch or no one did. Based on this one event, we look to have a puzzle and teamwork advantage as evidenced by assembling the boat and ladder faster, and they appear to have a stamina advantage, because we were sucking wind after the row and they weren't. |

DAY ONE CAMP RESULTS
It is your first day on the island and you are stranded there among the cameramen with only a machete, a pot and some canteens. You get busy before sunset to find some way to survive on this island.
People scatter about, exploring the island, looking for what they can do to help. Some people head out looking for food supplies, managing to harvest some fruit and coconuts from the forest on the island. The amount you collect is not a lot, but it's enough to feed you amply for today. Almost everyone pitches in trying to erect a shelter before you have to deal with rain or the colder nights. Many hands make light work, with Darth Vilus particularly impressing everybody. You wouldn't expect it from the motivational speaker, but he clearly knows how to put something together with his hands and he puts in a long day's work. Between the seven of you, you have a rudimentary shelter up before the first rains come. It's not what you'd like it to be, and with a little more work it could be a lot more watertight, but it proves better than sitting under the trees. Best of all, though, is the fire you light from your signal fire. Suddenly you have warmth to go along with your shelter and the elements seem much easier to deal with. Between the elements you are still exposed to in your rudimentary shelter, the meal you have, the cozy fire and your efforts in the challenge and during the day, you each lose three health points. Life here is still tough but not as bad as you feared. Last edited by Autumn : 06-07-2010 at 07:04 PM. |

way to go guys! Certainly seems like the attention to detail paid off for us.
Ouch I can only imagine how many health points we would have lost if we didn't do a better job on food gathering and camp building. We need to keep up with those two things to keep up as healthy as possible. |

You know that on the other camp the tribe prepares for Tribal Council. Here you have the night to relax and enjoy the fire you earned. Your daily allotment of points is due by 10:30. Your next challenge will be announced to you sometime during the night.

DAY TWO CHALLENGE
Welcome to your second challenge. Yesterday we saw these two tribes race to build a boat, row it, complete a puzzle and light a fire. Today's challenge will require a different group of skills. You will need to divide your tribe into pairs. Each pair will face off against a pair from the opposing tribe. The Villagers, you will have to sit one player for this challenge.
Here you can see a sandy beach divided into sections. When the first two pairs face off, at the sound of a whistle you will race across the sand to one portion of the grid. Buried in that section is a bag. Your goal is to find the bag and return it to the rest of your tribe. Of course that is the goal of the other tribe as well. This may, and probably will, be a full contact challenge. The tribe with the most bags at the end of the challenge wins the challenge. If there is a tie, each team will pick one pair to represent them in a sudden death match for the final bag. In addition they will receive a reward of camp supplies, including a hatchet, waterproof matches, and a collection of foodstuffs. The loser will face Tribal Council this night. By 4:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday you will need to submit to me, by private message, who you will be paired with. You and your partner will also need to submit your strategy for getting the bag. Your success will depend partially on your pair being on the same page, and of course on how well your strategy works against your opponents. In addition, each tribe will have to agree on a pair to represent them in case of a tie. Last edited by Autumn : 06-08-2010 at 12:27 AM. |

Wow, hell yeah! great job team! You were all right, attention to detail is a must, a lesson the wolves learned the hard way
I'm not too strong so if it comes to a fight i'm pretty sure i'll get my ass kicked, i think i'm ok at finding things but i'll double check. i think the weakest link should sit out (obviously) and then we should pick pairs who complement each other. looks like we'll have to share just how good we are in every area. as we're a team this isn't so bad

here are my stats for the skills that I believe would be required for the next challenge. I don't really think this is my best chance to shine so I will volunteer to sit out unless someone else has weaker stats then me.
Find-avg Running-avg Scrappy-good (maybe this will be useful?) Stamina -avg Strength-poor Teamwork-excellent

Yep, pair me with someone who can find and I'll make sure they aren't bothered by the "tough guy" on the other team. And I'll probably use my other hand to thrash their search person.

I think we all have an idea what we need to do here -- pair the right guys. My guess is Strength, Find and Scrappy. To be honest, I am pretty weak on all accounts.
I am guessing that Hoops and Thomkal are our best escorts and should be paired, in that order, with the best finders. Do we have anyone who is good or excellent at Find? |

If we are weak in the find skill, an alternative is to let the wolves find the bags and to take it from them with superior muscle. The Jackal is a hunter, I'm assuming he is good at find. And CrimsonFox, the stoner, can probably find any baggie as long as you tell him that his first hit in a week is inside. |

I'm excellent at teamwork and good in strength, and am average in everything else that looks like it will be used in this challenge.
So I doubt I'll be a superstar, but should be serviceable. I might even make for a decent "blocker" if we go with that sort of strategy. I'm a math geek so I can take a good angle if we're up against a big guy who needs tohave his ACL blown out.

Do we have any good or excellent runners? Pairing a muscle guy with a sprinter would work for a 'rob and run' stretegy.

I've noticed that Greyroofoo (Model), J23 (Hothead) and Racer (Roadie) have all been listed as posting in the other forum. After SnDvls' (surgeon) performance yesterday, I'd be very surprised to see him voted off. That leaves Danny (nurse), Jackal (hunter) and CrimsonFox (Stoner) as the likely victims. |

Two more thoughts:
- If this challenge plays out the way similar ones do on the "real" Survivor, then like chasepeake says finding the bag won't be the major hurdle. If anything, finding the bag can be pretty random since there's not much skill involved in digging blindly for something. The more important part is making sure you notice if the other guy finds it first. - Who should we sit out?

I am not good at Find either so I won't be of much help of finding the bag. I agree with Darth and think Scrappy, Stamina, Strength, and Teamwork are the key skills here, maybe Running once we've got the bag-I'm only average at running, but I'm very good at the others.
I am intrigued by Chesapeake's idea of letting them find the bags, especially since it seems we don't have much in the way of good finders. It will save us stamina wise I think. And I really don't think they are going to be able to outmuscle Hoops or outlast me in any brawl for the bag. What if we stood between them and their tribe, let them find the bag, and let our strong guys tackle them immediately and take the bag away? Hand it off to the better runner in each team and keep the other team from tackling him? |

I turn into a pumpkin at 2:30 and may well be out until after the deadline. I will compete in this challenge if necessary, but am forced to admit that I am average or poor in the likely skills needed for this challenge.
My thoughts -- Fighting skills should be our advantage here. If anyone emerges with good running and/or find skills, that person should be paired with Hoops. I think scrappy will be important here, too. The strategy of that pair should be to search, stay fairly close to the wolves, and to crush the opposition if the bag is found. The scrappy/runner should get the bad and haul ass. I'd suggest this team to win any tiebreaker. Team 2 should be Thomkal and any other runner, scrapper we can find. Same strategy. Maple Leafs, you look to be our 3rd best muscle guy. I guess that puts you on team 3. As a weaker link, I expect it makes the most sense to leave me out or put me on team 3 with ML. One more thought to throw out: assuming there are 3 rounds, do we put our weakest team second if we win round 1? |

I can also run and scrap pretty well. If this was a one-on-one competition I don't think anyone would do better than me at this one. Which means I'm headed for some future challenge where I'll be an abject failure, but I wouldn't be surprised if I could nearly single-handedly take one of the items.
So you can either overplay the other person with me to make absolutely sure we win that round or (and I think this is probably optimal) leave me with someone who is average in these areas and save our stronger people to pair together. I'm all for conditional orders on 2nd/3rd teams depending on results in Round 1 if you want to send me out first. |

I want to make sure we have strategies lined up clearly for the PMs.
My intent: have my teammate search for the bag while I wallop the bigger guy on the other team. If we find the bag first I can either run with it or play human shield to protect my teammate, if he is a standout runner. If you can pair me with someone who is a strong "seeker" then I can take the rest. If that person is also a strong runner, awesome. If not, give me the rock and I'll run it into the end zone. |

That sounds like a good plan there for your team Hoops.
I will need to be teamed with someone who is good at Find if we want my team to search for the bag at all. Maybe a good runner too. I have the stamina and scrappiness to harass any opposition for as long as it takes to get the bag back to our tribe. It's sounding more and more like Chesapeake should sit this one out, leaving Darth, EF, and Brad as potential teammates |
