I think there is 1 spot left to fill before the league kicks off. If anyone wants it better grab it fast.

can't people stuck in a one man team simply quit their team and rejoin another one?

There are three one driver teams and one two driver team at the moment...

okay, help me out here. This means that qualifying and races will automatically run at about 1am, right?

Since I've done my practice runs, I only need to make a setup that will be automatically used for the qualifying when it runs at 1, right?

That's correct. Each day, you do testing and then save your setup for either a race or a qualifying session. Wash, rinse, repeat.

The setup work is somewhat mechanical. The interesting strategizing is in setting your driving style and your race strategy for each race.

I usually just leave my driver on the 'go real fast' and 'run drivers off the road if they get in the way' settings.

No, they're stuck in one-driver teams. Hence my comment earlier. I hope they stick with it, but they're probably going to be at a significant disadvantage the entire season on setups. (It can still be interesting to simply try to steal results when you're in a non-competitive team... I've been in that situation in F1/86 before.)

I think he means that its always fun to run as an underdog and try to sneak into the points and see if you can keep up with the big guns even with a sizable disadvantage.

I had one F1 2007 season with a stryker that I loved trying to beat out the ferraris or mclarens when I could. Made me feel like I was acomplishing that much more.

At least thats what I think he meant.. i dont think he means to cheat and take someone else's setup somehow.

Exactly. In F1/86, only the top six places earn points, so it's a huge accomplishment to even get points in the backmarkers. Basically, you're running with every slider pegged hoping that you can stay on the track.

my first qualifying ever happened in a mid-season game I signed up for right after I signed up for the FOFC IndyCar series. It's an F1/2007 series and I'm with Toyota Racing. Qually ran last evening. I didn't even finish my first lap, bleh...

Now, that's an interesting change in weather for our first indy race though...

just for the warmups. I'm not gonna even do my warmup laps, because you'd have to change your settings for warmup and then move em back for the race.

Yeah, what Foz says is good advice for newer players. If you had your car locked in fully for qualifying, leave it alone and don't mess with it in warmups as the Race day will be the same weather as Qualifying. The warmup weather is monsoon and that means your car setup will be a good bit different then what you experienced in qualifying and practice, and you would then just have to unset all of that before the race.

Learning how to convert from dry weather to wet weather is important to learn, and this could be a good time to play with it some if you're interested in it. However before you change around too much, make sure you keep track of where your car was for qualifying, so you can set it back that way for the race.

oh, good to know, thanks for the info guys. I had tweaked my qually setup to run the warmup laps, but a good thing that I had written down my qually setup in an excel spreadsheet before getting kool tools. I'll go back to that one

How does the built in tool for converting weather work? I was sort of able to narrow down the right # to about -47 but that still didn't see perfect.

This link is helpful in figuring out weather changes:

hxxp://batracer.com/-ph?read&186

If you have the cool tools, its a bit easier as you don't have to do the math. Basically to go from full dry (0%) to full wet (100%) you need to move the wet/dry tool slider to +50 (or 1/2 of the difference). If you want to go from full wet (100%) to full dry (0%) you would move the slider to -50. To go from bone dry to monsoon (90%) you would move the slider to +45.

If you don't have the KoolTools , you don't have this wet/dry tool to help, and you have to just do the math in the URL i listed above. You'll end up with the same number however as the tool. Just with a bit more math work involved.

I just had my first race, well it was simmed about an hour ago, but I just watched it lap by lap and woah, what a load of fun that was!!! Even if I only started 22nd, dead last, I was still all psyched everytime I passed somebody. Finished the race in 15th place with a total of 8 passes on the race, 3rd in that category for that race. Not bad, felt I would have been able to hang in there if I'd started from a better position.

No teams, no excuses, identical cars, one driver per country. Are you up for it?
