This actually is not a shameless bump (for once). I am genuinely curious to see who goes number one. I don't think there is a clear top pick. I wish I wasn't picking 11th, but I am glad I am not picking number one because out of the top 3 or 4 guys I don't have a gut feeling who is going to do the best.

Well if this was a keeper league - there's a clear #1. He rhymes with Pulowitzki. But this isn't...so therefore, I'm thinking.

I have the #1 pick right?

Changes made to the league are now final. Bumped IP up to 48 and added 1 P but not the additional SP.

Draft order is now set in Yahoo and we are now live. I don't have the spreadsheet yet but we shouldn't need it for a couple of rounds so I'll work on that when I get a chance.

Tomorrow morning at 8am ET, the draft starts for good. Any picks that are made before then are valid but there is no clock today.

Ramzavail is on the clock with 1.1. It is due by 11am tomorrow and the 3 hour clock will commence after that.

Just a quick reminder to make things easier for me. Put your picks in the following format (including bold):

1.1 SS Ernie Banks, ChC

You know, he's a popular guy and one hell of a player but I'm not sure he can field the position at 80 years old. No worse than Yuni, tho.

Oh, shut up.

I thought we were rid of him for good when we dumped him in the Zack trade. But, "Batter Nine, You Sucky" is back. The mileage you can get out of that nickname is great, tho. Anagrams FTW!

That's pretty great. We didn't get much of a bat upgrade in Gonzalez, but his defense has got to be better than Yun-E6

Gaining 3B elgibility may hurt the Tigers defense, but it will be great for his fantasy value.

Yahoo draft updated thru 1.4.

Just a reminder as this happens every year: Yahoo will update with available players if you go to the available "Players" tab and look at all available players. However, if you search on a name, it will show up even if taken.

So, for instance, Pujols will not appear under "Available Players" but if you search on Pujols, his name will show up with the owner as "FA" even tho he's already been taken.

Well, that's unfortunate. But a couple more draft demos.

First is the autopick. Comey missed out on his pick. Remember, if you miss 2 of your first 10 picks, you can be replaced as manager. The highest ranking player left on Yahoo's O-Rank is picked for the manager. Anyone can autopick for someone- don't wait for me as I won't always be available. Everyone know the rules: 3 hours and then autopick.

1.5 3B Jose Bautista, TOR

Secondly, ntndeacon sent me a list of 2 players in order. Since he was only 2 picks away, one of the two would be on the board. It's best to pick someone at the other end of the draft from you- since I had already picked, I was a good choice. But it's a good idea to post here that you sent someone a list so we know that if you're gone, who has your list. Also, it's best to see if that someone is available before submitting a list.

1.6 LF Ryan Braun, MIL

Travis is up and Yahoo is updated

Might want to clarify when the clock is active.

Also, if a player on the "turn" is autopicked, is it just one pick or both?

Also, returners and those familiar- we aren't super hard and fast with the time limit. If you post before the time limit that you just got here and are picking at 2:55, we'll give you some time to pick even if you go over (tho I remember someone then taking 30 minutes and that was kindof annoying and I almost pulled the trigger). It's not that we're trying to be sticks in the mud about this, but the draft needs to keep moving.

Clock starts the minute of the post from the previous pick. I picked at 1:39pm ET so Comey had until 4:39pm ET. Travis just picked at 5:12pm so the next pick (CleBrownsFan) is due at 8:12pm ET.

To the second question, people on the turn shouldn't be penalized for being on the turn. We could conceivably have to wait 6 hours but it's not fair to have only 3 hours for 2 picks when everyone else has 3 per pick.

Lastly, again, a reminder: please PM the next person in line after you so they get a little reminder

I was referring more to what would be considered "overnight" hours. I assume we are planning to penalize anybody for not drafting at 3am

Something to bring up (maybe for next year) is that if we keep the 3 hour clock instead of 6, to maybe use a different time zone for when our draft day starts/stops? Starting at 8am est means picks could be due by 9am mtn time (not an overnight pick but if an early pick is made and a west coast owner is up next).

Normally not a huge issue but just for the first part of the day if we can't make that pick prior to going to bed (waiting for whoever ended the day on the clock) and end up getting put on the clock early in the day. An issue I wouldn't have run into last year but I'm working 3-11pm these days so end up sleeping from 3am until sometime between 10 and 11. Will send a list to somebody if I find myself in that situation but even going central could make things a bit friendlier in the AM without sacrificing PM draft productivity.

Don't feel bad, Danny. I just started looking yesterday. I always feel I do way more research in football than baseball, but I never seem to do that much better in football. I like the "off the cuff" strategy.

Thanks lol. Football is my favorite sport and I follow it pretty closely year round and generally do well in that sport. Baseball I have not been as successful with. I may try my first 10 picks on hitters strategy again to see if it will work this time.

Would 8am CT to 10pm CT work better for people? 11pm ET is going to be pretty rough for me but I think I can swing it and I guess if I miss, I'll have an early pick in the morning.

SI, what about 8am to 9pm central? Hopefully we'll still cruise later into the night if people are around anyway. Bit of a compromise for both coasts?

Either way we'll need to get a better pace than today. Hopefully we can polish off the first round tonight.
