You need to write her back just so that she knows there is no interest. Simply tell her you didn't feel there was a connection and you didn't see anything in common + could never date someone who wasn't a democrat. Keep it short.

Feel like I've done that, but you're right...maybe I should just be more blunt.

This thread delivers.

The one thing that keeps bugging me is this...

Why does she think your name is Julie?

Yes, yes, I understand. I was making a joke based on her extremely poor english comprehension skills.

ahahahahahaha

Jedikooter has some really funny posts in this thread. I think the "tall task" is the most unappreciated one.

Aaaah...that was a subtle joke - I missed it.

This thread is delivering some serious comedy - more than I expected, that's for sure.

Would it have been funnier without the pictures of her? Is that what's pushed it over the line in your eyes wade?

I do actually think ripping a picture of someone off facebook and posting it somewhere else for a bunch of strangers to make fun of is a little cruel.

I don't often agree with you, but on this one I do. Maybe we should all pick on some retarded people once we're done here? I'm far from PC, and I like making fun of whatever, but this thread just went to a mean-spirited place.

I agree and usually I don't agree with much of what Wade says but in this case I think he's spot on.

I don't think there's anything wrong with writing her back and saying hi...doing the normal small talk, but if she were to push to meet up and obviously you don't want to DT, just be honest with her. Say it was nice to meet her, but you didn't feel as if there was a future between the two of you. Plain and simple.

I don't think your family was doing this to torture you at all. From personal experience of being set up on many dates with friend's friends...it's not uncommon for the person to view their friend in a better light than you might. Doesn't make it better or worse, they just want the best for their friend and you. I mean hell, I can't tell you the times I walk around wondering how the hell that guy is with that girl (or vice versa)...stranger things can/have happened.

From what I recall, you've had some harsh things to say about women and how you've been treated in the past...and I know you've taken pride (as you should) in your weight loss, so how would you feel about someone who maybe went out with you once and posted a not so flattering picture of you on the net for everyone to make fun of?

Maybe you should add this to your sig line "C'mon DT, you're better than that..."

Valid point...valid point.

Oh - I went to delete the pics as I realized I'd perhaps been a bit harsh, but it seems somebody already did that.

Methinx I may end up in the box momentarily then...

Well, we already knew she was short without the pictures being posted. What makes it funny to me is, DTs exasperation that he can't shake this chick. I don't really care about her looks, I just made a comment that her hair cut makes her look like a lesbian. That's just an observational fact. Had DT given no background on her, I would have thought she was a lesbian after seeing that picture. With a little work, maybe she could be a bit more presentable to guys. All of that doesn't take away that the situation, in general, is funny.

That's true - the true humor is that this chick just won't go away. The ragging on her looks probably crossed the line at some point in there though...with the clarity of a new day I can appreciate that.

I like to think I'm a better person than that...

What's funny to one person, isn't always funny to another. However, just because it's NOT funny to someone, doesn't mean that it's wrong.

The biggest issue I had was when the picture came into play. At that point, shit got personal in an unfair way. But also, jokes like the above are part of the problem. "Hey look, I just used a phrase with an implied height reference! I'm so clever!". It takes 5 seconds to think of this type of joke. "Dumb humour" has its place, but it is best used in a good natured way.

As Jeffrey Ross says, in comedy there are no lines... for skilled comedians. If you are going to poke fun at touchy or "non-PC" subject matter, you can do it, but if you don't want to come off like an asshole you need to do it right. A lot of the people in this thread haven't done it right.

I don't feel I've condemned anyone's morals. I make jokes in poor taste all the time. I laugh at horrible shit. I have no doubts that most of the people cracking jokes in this thread are perfectly decent humans (and one person is likely a serial killer, but that's just stats).

I just think this particular thread has a bit more 'mean' then it does 'funny'.

That is all.

I know what you're doing. This is exactly how you people treated Thomas Steen when he played for the Jets and you're just calling people out here for doing the same thing to this girl in an effort to try and make it "right".

The old wound never healed properly, eh?

The only relevance I think the picture has is to the more interesting issue here - the fact that she's quite clearly, um, not pretty yet your sister and BIL still went ahead and set you up with her. Although it's not like we needed the picture to know that she's not hot - you could have just told us. But I find that dynamic fascinating. Did you not ask any questions beforehand? Is it the fact that she's a cousin of your BIL that kept you from cutting to the chase? And what is it about you and her that they thought was worth setting up? Did they expect you to be a willing pity party participant or something?

I'm not trying to be mean, but given her looks, her political leanings, and her education level (at least as judged by you), it seems to me that the fact she might be a "little person" is, at most, a side issue, IMO.

I can see being uncomfortable with the picture being posted, and really, anything else in this thread - but I don't think one needs to reach "elite Jeffrey Ross" level of humor before they're allowed to make a joke on a meaningless message board. Who is this geinus/skilled comic Jeffrey Ross anyway, is he related to that hack Jeffrey Ross of the same name that tells the same joke over and over on those comedy central roasts? ([Roastee], you're [Innocent trait #1], [Innocent trait #2], and [Innocent trait #3]...if I didn't know any better I'd think you're [unflattering comparison]")

Anyway, I liked this thread better when it was about DT trying to score with that midget.

This is really bizare to me also. I can just see DT's sister sitting around with someone who says, "I'm looking for someone to date my friend, she's an older, hardcore republican little person with a masculine haircut." DT's sister replies, "my brother would be perfect!!!!".

Yeah, it is odd to me as well. I've met DT a few times, normal, friendly, outgoing guy. Doesn't really seem like the type you would set up your mutant cousin with.

I'd make a joke about what you said molson, but, I don't want to be admonished by the Funny Police.

Anyway, I liked this thread better when it was about DT trying to score with that midget.

Yes, very interesting. Has to be a gag, because DT's family should know that even though midgetgirl may be a wonderful person, she's just not a match for DT.

Has it been mentioned in this thread that maybe DT is a midget as well? And that's why someone tried to hook them up?

I would think setting up 2 people who have nothing in common but their size to be an incredibly short-sighted and stupid idea. But that's just me.

I'm also going to go out on a limb and suggest that the thread title argues against DT being an LP.

I'm almost certain now more than ever DT is a LP. I don't love him any less, though (well, technically yes but not figuratively).
