I agree and usually I don't agree with much of what Wade says but in this case I think he's spot on.

I don't think there's anything wrong with writing her back and saying hi...doing the normal small talk, but if she were to push to meet up and obviously you don't want to DT, just be honest with her. Say it was nice to meet her, but you didn't feel as if there was a future between the two of you. Plain and simple.

From personal experience of being set up on many dates with friend's friends...it's not uncommon for the person to view their friend in a better light than you might. Doesn't make it better or worse, they just want the best for their friend and you. Well, we already knew she was short without the pictures being posted. What makes it funny to me is, DTs exasperation that he can't shake this chick. I don't really care about her looks, I just made a comment that her hair cut makes her look like a lesbian. That's just an observational fact. Had DT given no background on her, I would have thought she was a lesbian after seeing that picture. With a little work, maybe she could be a bit more presentable to guys. The biggest issue I had was when the picture came into play. At that point, shit got personal in an unfair way. But also, jokes like the above are part of the problem. "Hey look, I just used a phrase with an implied height reference! I'm so clever!". It takes 5 seconds to think of this type of joke. "Dumb humour" has its place, but it is best used in a good natured way.

As Jeffrey Ross says, in comedy there are no lines... for skilled comedians. If you are going to poke fun at touchy or "non-PC" subject matter, you can do it, but if you don't want to come off like an asshole you need to do it right. A lot of the people in this thread haven't done it right.

The only relevance I think the picture has is to the more interesting issue here - the fact that she's quite clearly, um, not pretty yet your sister and BIL still went ahead and set you up with her. Although it's not like we needed the picture to know that she's not hot - you could have just told us. But I find that dynamic fascinating. Did you not ask any questions beforehand? Is it the fact that she's a cousin of your BIL that kept you from cutting to the chase? And what is it about you and her that they thought was worth setting up? Did they expect you to be a willing pity party participant or something?

I'm not trying to be mean, but given her looks, her political leanings, and her education level (at least as judged by you), it seems to me that the fact she might be a "little person" is, at most, a side issue, IMO.
