Unless his career path changes direction again, I think it might be fair to consider him football's version of Roger Maris - a guy with a few absolutely brilliant seasons who tailed off pretty quickly because of injuries.

ONly way Warner gets to Canton is with the ticket he bought for himself. He was great under Vermeil, mediocre under Martz. He was a guy who clicked well with the right system, the right players, at the right time. After that, he was a dud. Danny White and Mark Rypien deserve about as much consideration.

Exactly how would that have tarnished his image to not be considered one of the best? He had already done it for clearly long enough to be one of the best. Basically what you're saying is that someone could rush for 18,000 yards over about a dozen season and then hang on for 3 more injury lpagues years, only rushing for abuot 100 yards total and you would remember them for those final three years instaed of the first 12?

Warner's problems aren't physical, they are mental. Once he suffere the first injury, he hears footsteps in his sleep. Hell, if you were walked up behind him in line at the grocery store he would probably throw the grapefruit away to avoid the sack, knocking out a cashier 5 registers over.
