A nice depressing loss to start the season. 60-72.
What's up with the 30 minute games? Was two 20 minute halves not a possibility? Just curious.

i'd also like to re-iterate how important knowing the MPG is. My backup center dropped in 8-10 (he was slotted to start but the bastard was UNPREPARED so i benched himm.. he proceeds to then shoot 80% off the bench).
Anyways, he scored 18 points, but I don't know if that was in 10 minutes or if he ended up playing 20 (not as impressive). Ehh, better example, a guy scores 6 points, now is that in 1 minute of action or 22? |

Cow Valley Union starts off with a win over a Redskins fan. Considering everything else today (Cowboys losing, Redskins winning, fantasy team getting spanked, HT team losing 2-0), I can at least point to one score today and thump my chest. Thanks CW.

CW has said the defensive styles don't work yet (except maybe the 'hard defense' option for individual orders). |

Yep. I think it was when someone asked about the help files, why they don't reference the defensive orders but they do the offensive ones. Then CW stated they (the defensive orders) haven't been implemented yet.

I have the same thought as someone else..
Scoring is too high... and this is with 30 minutes, not 40? It seemed that the shooting %'s were really high for my opponent.. I don't think our talent is THAT different...

00:00 SF Randy Esch has ball, defended by SF Billy Andreasen.
00:00 SF Randy Esch made the 2 pointer! (58 - 58) Tied the game to send it into OT, but lost by 4. I would also like to see MPG. Would make it easier to see if my backup PG did actually outpreform my starting PG.

In chat, people were thinking scoring was too low. For instance, almost everyone got between 40 and 60. Also, shooting percentage was horrendous with my team getting 28% and my opponent getting 33% which is probably on par because we have below average teams. SI

You've got your league leaders page up now.
I've been intending to do that for awhile, but it's hard to get that one fully operational till I had live game data to test it with. Edit: And conference leaders would, frankly, be a fucking nightmare to do. Not gonna happen for awhile. Last edited by Coffee Warlord : 11-07-2004 at 10:02 PM. |

The list of shit I've learned from the first major testing of this little fiasco, and where we're headed in the near term. (Reposted from the boards there)
Game times will be bumped up from 30 minutes to 40 minutes. Whoops. As per the above, play by play action will commence at 6:20, not 6:30. The plain and simple reason for this is it's much easier to display the flow of games from a programming standpoint if I don't have to deal with the hour rolling over. And no, it won't instantly vanish at 7:00 again. Heh. I'm examining the rate of assists and free throws right now. Free throws are going to be low until I implement fouls away from the ball. Not much can be done there. Assists, however, I think I need to work on. I know everyone is begging for minutes. I agree. The problem is, while it is very easy to write code for it, it's very very VERY difficult to write code for it that isn't a resource hog. Tough one. It will be in, eventually. Likely not for a little bit, though. Sub logic. It's going to change. It's my next big project. I'll let you know more when I decide more. Scores, quite frankly, I think are pretty decent. They are gonna increase a smidge (though barely, another internal change to the game clock counter), but not much. |

Did it.
Figured out a way to put in minutes in a non ungodly time consuming fashion. Note. It's gonna be off. SLIGHTLY, and you may not even notice it in many cases. But, there may be some times when the minutes played add up just a couple minutes more than 40 minutes. This is to be expected, and no player can possibly have more than 1 minute more PT reported than he actually was in. It's close enough. Minutes will start reporting, and be stored, on wednesday. It also is now a listing on the stats/league leaders pages. |

I won!
Well my main problem right now to get involved with the game is that i can't underestand player ratings and how good/bad is a player. Without any guide, i can't translate current ratings into 2p scoring, 3p scoring, blocking, etc as we are used on basket games. Look at Hattrick, it's so easy to know how good a player is for each position with their ratings. I think you should add that kind of rattings to the ones you already have that are more mental/phisical. As we can't see the players train at our facilities as real coach does, we can't know how good aplayer is shooting inside or outside etc.

Wow, even kept it close until about 7 minutes to go, then all my guys went home and the coaching staff had to finish the game off, how embarrasing.

CW,
Just a general comment. I love that we get to see this as it goes. I make sure I tell myself this is very much in production and just have a good time with it... I like that we see constant improvements as we go!
