I saw REO Speedwagon and Journey...gotta tell you guys I love both of these bands and am not ashamed whatsoever. I think I'm most ashamed about liking some Blink 182 and Elton John.

I played the living shit out of Enuff Z Nuff's first album. I think I bought the 2nd one as well, but it doesn't seem as memorable to me. Are the albums after that (if there are any) worth trying to find?

What!?! One of the best groups from the 70s? You are ashamed of a fusion of jazz and rock with a tremendous experiemental spin? Or are you hiding the 80's power ballad Chicago - I could understand that.

I'll list ABBA and the Monkees as others have done. And Prince, I *guess* could be embarassing depending on who you tell.

Also: KC & The Sunshine Band, Donna Summer (ok, there's a lot of disco I like), Laurie Berkner, Enya, The Escape Club, Tom Jones, The B-52s, some Wiggles songs...

Enya does have the song from Boondock Saints to their credit.

I think they have 13 or so. I have them all, and I like them all. I personally love the group. But I like anybody who sounds like The Beatles in some form or fashion.

I get kidded alot by my friends about it.

Go the website and you can get them all. Or PM me.

13!!!! WOW! I have the first one, the other one after that, I think it's called "Strength". In fact, I pulled them out of my CD box about a month ago, and they've both been playing fairly regularly in the car lately...

I don't have any of her CDs, but I do enjoy Avril Lavigne(sp?)'s music, her first stuff and the newer stuff that I've heard. Perhaps too ashamed to buy a CD though.

I have to admit i have a strange infatutation w/ some of the Kelly Clarkson tunes ... and I might have actually downloaded (legally) one or two Mandy Moore songs ... but only as a palate cleanser between my heavy doses of Linkin Park.

They're not a Disney band. They're prefabricated (from the UK), but they're not Disney.

Now, I have never heard a Mandy Moore or Kelly Clarkson song, but...

Mandy Moore's album Coverage is produced by the acclaimed John Fields (Glen Phillips, Bleu, Semisonic, Honeydogs, etc.), and includes contributions from non other than Andy Sturmer of Jellyfish fame and Phil Solem of The Rembrandts, among others. Not to mention, the song selection shows a predilection towards 70's pop/rock. In other words, it's not exactly Britney Spears/Jessica Simpson schlock. Or so I've read.

I've also been told by people whose opinions I respect that there's more to Kelly Clarkson than just American Idol, and that at least a few songs on her album are more "band oriented" than the usual American Idol warble-fest...but again, I haven't been able to tear myself away from artists I know and trust to sample either of them.

So I guess what I'm saying is...you might have high-rent taste in schlock.

What's funny about this, my wife and I were talking about this Saturday night. We dropped off the kids and started singing "Victor Vito" in the car....

So I would have to say Laurie Berkner and Counting Crows are my two guilty pleasures.

Also, there is no shame in listening to Journey and REO, two of the biggest bands in the late 70s and early 80s!

All of those late 70's/early 80's bands got shafted when hard rock and metal got big. For about 5 years, bands like Foreigner, REO, Journey, Asia, Loverboy, Night Ranger...(give me a sec, I'm mentally running down my wife's CD collection), Styx, Bryan Adams, Survivor, Billy Squier (still a personal fave of mine), etc., were huge pop/rock acts. Then rock turned heavy, pop music went synth in a big way, and by 1985-86, the same music that was considered "rock" 5 years earlier sounded whimpy by comparison to the hair metal bands ruling MTV, and it was all over. A few, like Bryan Adams, Heart, and Cheap Trick, tried to mix things up and had some success (although fans skewered them for going soft), but mainly, they all lost their record deals, got fat, and waited until 1996 or thereabouts to try again.

Needless to say, it's still 1981 in my wife's heart.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do like listening to them. My older brother listened to them when I was very young. I guess it just stuck.
