Wow - some great ideas. I'm definitely waiting a couple days to make a final decision. He's really really cute, and very playful...he meows alot, this really scratchy pathetic kitten meow...not sure if that will factor in or not. He's also very frisky and playful.

He's not a Vesuvius, I can tell that already. His hair is pretty long so he's not a very "masculine" looking cat, he's very pretty. I've always thought the name Gus was cute, like the mouse in Cinderella...you know, GusGus...so right now that is the lead contender. I'm definitely considering Guinness though, that is a good one. Though I don't drink Guinness so I'm not sure it'S

Though I don't drink Guinness so I'm not sure it's very appropriate. Are there any Irish vodka's out there? I'm more of a Vodka girl than a beer girl...unless I can name him Bass Ale

As for Oliecat...my screen name is actually taken from our current cat, Olie, aka Oliegirl, aka Rolie Polie Olie...those of you with kids will know that is a TV show on the Disney Channel...my son was 3 when he got his cat and I let him have full naming rights

New kitten seems to be fond of walking across the keyboard on the laptop...he managed to step on the mouse thingy and now my task bar is up at the top instead of the bottom...anyone know how to get it back where it belongs???

DOLA - not sure what happened there...I hit "edit" in the first post and when I saved it, it saved it as another post...weird.

Ummm, she's a he...probably not the best name for a boy

And to those that expressed interest/concern in Leo...I've already had 3 people respond to my Craig's List posting so I'm very confident I'll be able to find him a good home in the next few days. It's going to kill me to give him up, but I'm trying to remind myself that it's going to make him really happy to be in a house with a yard and stuff...he deserves that

We named our cat Dingleberry. Fits her perfectly. You should definitely wait a few days and then go from there.

Refresh my memory...

Kitten is adorable, but the damn thing woke me up about 25 times during the night walking around or pouncing on my hair...seems he only needs 1 - 2 hours of sleep at a time and then he's ready to play for 15 - 20 minutes. He's really really cute and sweet though! I'll take some pics and post them later on...

Keep the name ideas coming please!!!!

Sorry, no one told me this was a competition, you were just supposed to implement my suggestion. From this point forward, I'm going into Operation Shutdown in this thread.

Hmmm, not sure how I missed that brilliant suggestion...I'm not overly fond of it as a first name, but maybe as a middle name??? Would that be OK?

Cork is an Irish name, kind of matches the color too.

We have a cat that is similarly colored named Scotch. Butterscotch actually, but it gets shortened. My next male cat is going to be named Windsor.

If it's b/w cat and dog, I think my cat vs. Wade's dog wins in manliness.

(Sorry Wade, I have to post this as often as possible )

When you finally do get the kitty, remember to set up a catster.com website to upload pics. It's free!

No male can ever claim that dog as his own and retain ANY amount of dignity. Does Wade drive a really souped up sportscar and a massive stereo in the back too? I mean you gotta be compensating somewhere if THAT is your dog.....

I still haven't settled on a name, Gus just isn't sticking...last night someone called him Butterscotch, which made me think of Irish Scotch, but all I could come up with was Dewars, and that isn't a good name for a cat. Any Scotch drinkers here that can help?

I'm not wild about Albus, but Potter is kind of cute...

Yes, similar experience here. Also ours climbed a power pole as a young kitten and spent the night laying on the TV cable. If he chose a different wire, he truly would have earned the name, although I fear it would have been posthumously.

You could rearrange the letters of Dewars, and call him Seward. Then whenever he does something bad, you could shrug it off and say, "Seward's Folly."

If your cat is anything like mine, just name it Bonk. Watching my cats fall off of stuff or jump into the glass of an entertainment center or china cabinet, I think Bonk would be appropriate for most of them.

You know, I said I named my cat Oz. That's not quite his real name, but it's what he's called about half of the time....the rest of it, he does respond to "shithead" or "cretin."

Though if Scotch isn't doing it, and you kind of like the idea of Harry, why not Ron or Fred or George (the latter 2 especially if he seems to be a troublemaker)?

I decided today was my deadline for naming the kitten, and as soon as my son put Harry Potter 3 in the DVD player, I came up with the perfect name....Hagrid He's already got nicknames...I call him Fluffernutter and a friend of mine morphed that into SuperFluffyNuts, so the cat may end up with Multiple Personality Disorder, but he is so cute that it won't matter

Thanks to all who helped!

Hahaha.
All I can think of here is how Oz, because he's neutered, his balls look like those little puff balls you used to glue onto paper in kindergarten arts & crafts. Fuzzy little balls is a great description.
