I'd like to add that anyone who sees this thread and wants to jump in is welcome to do so. You would simply pick last in the draft, in the order of your signing up for it. There should be some reasonably good cars even at pick #14...

bump... Brillig, you out there?

Profile shows you last online about half an hour before I posted that you were up, so I'll guess it was a busy day at the office...

Sorry about the delay - I probably went offline just before you made your pick. I grabbed the other McLaren.

I sent Mr.W the info and put him on the clock...

Edit - and now the BAT7 results are in.

Reminder! If we go with a short field and a manual start, there is no 12 hour period after the game starts to do your practice run - we go straight to qualifying.

So run your laps, people...

I will make a few ads in selected series and to selected past teammates about the game before I go I tell you to start it with a short field. I was aware of the no wait period, but thanks for reminding me...

Yeah, looked at your pick and wasn't sure what you were complaining about. Seemed to me that at this point, Honda is as good a pick as any. Unless you meant to pick a backmarker and wanted to get the Aguri, then...

oops, edited. Nobody would have been able to pick it in game anyway but still better to show the right information and not get anyone's hope up.

as I said, I have posted in the driver chat of the E-Race challenge and I've sent PM's to three past teammates. No new drivers that way. I will post this message in the BATracer private games forum in a moment:
Quote:
The FOFC career challenge

We are about to start season 1 of our ongoing career challenge using the F1-2006 carset. 13 of us from another board (namely FOFC) have had a draft and are looking for people to fill the field in this first season and hopefully stick for future seasons where cars will be picked based on your finished position of the previous season, a lot like the E-Race career challenge (hi Eduardo!)

See it as a challenge to come over, start with a mid to low range car and try to work your way up.

I won't post the game specifics here as I want to be able to approve drivers before they sign up. Sorry, black flaggers and uncommitted drivers need not apply, if you see what I mean.

Available cars are as follows:
Midland (2)
Red Bull (2)
Super Aguri (2)
Toro Rosso (2)
Toyota (1)

You can see the draft thread over at:
http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...ad.php?t=60675

We might start with a short field if it proves too hard to fill, but I'd really like to have a complete field. Of dedicated drivers that is.

PM me if you are interested. Series info will be sent for you to pick a car if you are accepted.

and we'll see how it goes. Worse comes to worse, we will force the start by tomorrow at about this time, so do your laps!!!

Seriously, only RPI-FAN still has to do his, so it's not all that bad...

Wouldn't we want a smaller field for this? Maybe skipping the truly weak cars would help the morale of any struggling driver and result in fewer AWOLers.

and I agree too. We have one outsider signed on, Eduard Liguori, the guy running the E-Race career challenge. Once we get a teammate for him, I will give said teammate a bit of time to run his laps and we will start this thing... I don't want to leave him stranded either. I received a PM of another E-Racer asking for the series info to become Eduardo's teammate, so this should happen soon.

Would have been nice to have some no names running the lower cars, if only to have someone to kick on, but it doesn't seem it will happen. And I'm not ready to open it up at large and risk seeing the Fardons et al sign up for our game, even if they could behave very well. Can't stand them...

as of about 75 minutes ago, the game has officially started, and WE HAVE A FULL FIELD!!!

Even better, that's a full field of people I believe should stick around too. Both David and Morgan whom signed up for the last two cars are drivers I've seen to appear dedicated. Matteo is a teammate of mine in a BAR 2002 and he's helped me maintain a second place with that BAR with fours races to go in the season and Corey White has won season one of the E-Race career challenge. All in all, a good group of drivers.

Good luck everyone!

we might have a drive become available as Corey White was put up for sacking. He's apparently went AWOL, not only in that series, as he is in another series against me and he seems to have missed laps over there too. I have PMed him but I will not cut him any slack if his explanation is the least fishy...

I currently have two FOFCers on my waiting list:
Scoobz0202
Breeze

Would any of you be interested if the drive became available?

I also have a couple other names of outsiders, past teammates of mine that didn't have a private slot available when we started the game but told me to keep their name for a possible future season.

Access to BATracer has been blocked at work, so I'm not sure how I'll be able to handle season two if we get to that point...

For now, scoobz, the drive is available, but you need a midseason slot now, not a private slot. I will PM you the game info since you are the first on our waiting list but please let me know if you are out of midseason slots so I can offer it to Breeze or one of the outsiders that were interested...

RPI-FAN is showing up as having been AWOL for 3.75 days, his drive is available and game information has been sent to Breeze, the last of my FOFCers on my waiting list.

My waiting list of outsiders is the following after that:
Athan Kakaoux
Bruno Lucas
David Alatorre Lopez
Fernado Waldren

FYI, I will track the series ID on the midseason game list everyday and if a drive comes up in there, you will be replaced. Showing up once a day to do your laps is not too much to ask I think...

I have made a few efforts to get ahold of matteo on team talk, and he doesn't respond. He actually has not said anything since I joined.

what do you mean, he just doesn't talk? Does he at least share his setup?

It's one thing not to be too talky, would be real bad if he just didn't share his setups...

dola, to add that I teamed with Matteo once and he was a very nice guy, chatty at times and very helpful all along the season...

Well first, apologize for missing saturdays session. Was busy.

The sad thing is that with our cars we both you could say haven't been putting a full effort. When I first joined the team I did the obligatory how's it going message. Never got a response so I wasn't sure what to think. A few days later I had a bad run and asked if he had any setup. No response. Then a couple days later I asked for help again and never got a response. He has not posted a message, or setup, since I joined. But I actually haven't posted a setup in team talk either, mostly because I never once heard a peep from him. Maybe if I start posting setups that will perk him up.
