Yeah, this is the "go time" file. The only thing you could do is if the players sign during the season, you could leave room on the ML roster and they could be placed on it, since there would be room. But then, the AI would have to auto-set your lineups, since the season would have started. |

Si, so long as they are 18 or older. FOOL doesn't want the authorities cracking down on us for child labour violations. Last edited by Young Drachma : 07-26-2008 at 07:03 PM. |

I'm downright irate with my team, to be honest. Disappointed and irate. This is not the season we were supposed to have.

Holy crap! Looks at me, ma! No hands!
Sheesh, I must have had the June from Heaven. Bet you didn't think anyone would be around, eh? See, I'm stalking you (okay, this is just a coincidence; still, funny that I am here).

Glad to see Rio Grande's signing of Tanaka put them over the top, it seems.
Second place and a share of playoff cash would make me a little less annoyed about how my team underachieved during the first half. |

3rd straight year a newcomer enters the Classic from the CL. Colorado, meanwhile, returns for the 2nd time in three years. Congrats to Rio Grande and Colorado!!

The DH didn't cause the world to explode either in the RL. The league ERA was 0.05 higher and batting average was .002 higher than the CL.

You know, I know you're dissatisfied with how your team has performed, DC, but it seems to be playing much better now based on your improving record. Just a bad start, maybe?

I know what I did wrong and I know what gaps I need to fill. The only way we could've hung with the big dogs this year was out of their mind play by a few guys who were young or that I wanted miracles out of. Our bullpen wasn't as strong as it needed to be, neither were a few key offensive positions. All in all, I'll take the winning record, to start a new consecutive winning seasons streak as a manager and know that we have a team that can compete, but that we'll need to get ourselves in a different position if we wanna compete next year. Your ballclub is tough, as were the others in the RL this year. Still, a great year! |

Ah, man! Cringer beat me for best record.
Actually, I am really happy to see him continue to do well, as I know he was really down on his team just two years ago. I am looking forward to a great FOOL Classic. If he's got the offensive juggernaut, I will be very curious to see what sort of opposition I will provide.

I'm packing the file and sending it up to upload. I'm also going to bed, so...hopefully it'll be there in an hour or so and in the off chance it fails, I'll check in the morning and resend it. But I think it'll be okay.

One area I have definitely found to help tons is building up that pen. I have tremendous depth in that area of the organization, and it has really helped me maintain a solid all around staff, even if I have generally just had Gonzalez as a shut down type of starter. I knew I had talent there this year, probably more than either, but I was very curious to see how it would play out with me letting Withecombe and Stroo go. The fans dinged me for losing both, too (good thing they liked me bringing in the young Japanese 3B).

GL to both teams in the Classic, just a little more to Cringer though as we hope a RL castoff can bring the CL its first title since NY won it 3 years ago. As a side note in the first real season of the new divisions the three former RL teams (Rio Grande, Valdosta, and Texas) went 259-203 including best record in the CL and the three former CL teams (Ann Arbor, Boston, and Hartford) went 241-221.

I had the same problem and it just downloaded, but really screwed up. It says it only updated 9 files. Checking it out it has the date as the 28th of March still and it crashes whenever I try to view stats. Hopefully DC will be able to figure out what went wrong. |

Yup, screwy file. I have e-mails through September of '68, but the game date is 3-28-68...and only three players of mine have stats.

Bad June, rough September, but still an improvement wins-wise for this team. I'll have some rough choices to make next season about majors vs minors, which should be a good thing. Curious to get the file and see who did what.

It looks like the changing of the guard has occured in Valdosta.
Bryan Hughes went 12-13 for his first season with an ERA over 4.00 in his 8 seasons, and appears to be past his prime.. meanwhile his eventual replacement 21 year old Carlos Gonzales appears to be ready to fill his shoes as the most likely Pitcher of the Year, winning the pitching triple crown after a 22-3 season with a 1.94 ERA! In fact, the reason for my team's slide appears to be other than Gonzales, the rest of my starting pitching all had their worst years. Perhaps the rotation has gotten too old and I missed my window for a championship. The bullpen was still strong and my lineup was quite good (6 of my starting 8 with OPS over .800). Of the five young players that I brought up from AAA this season, only two of the five held their own, so we'll have some decisions to make going into this offseason on some positions. (Especially 2B as I have two pretty good young 2B and no way to play both of them) |

It is a sad day for those in Brooklyn. After reviewing the season it was decided that Star catcher and the current career leader in OBP for catchers had to be released today. I swear I do not know when to sign players. I wait until the end of the season they have break out seasons and ask for more money. e.g. Ramon Lopez and Raul Garcia. Those I tend to sign at the beggining of the season tend to have horrible years, i.e. Jose Martinez and would end up signing for less. At least I knew when to cut bait with Nathan Adams This brings up an interesting question DC as I do not believe it has been done before. When am I allowed to resign Jose Martinez? I do not believe I will because I just can't put him in my cap for next year, but just in case since he only wants a 1/3 of what he was making.

Wow, I made the FOOL freakin' Classic! I am overjoyed with this! Hurricane and all, the Roadrunners were not to be stopped I guess. I am still downloading the files before I head back to the house and actually look at things. I will have my export done in a few hours I would think. I am still trying to mix work and cleaning up so I am just now seeing this.
Congrats Chief, and good luck in the Classic. This should be fun. Looking at the All-Stars, it seems my big guns did their job, I can't wait to see the numbers.

Thanks CR.
And now that I have had a chance to look over a few things, Tanaka blew me away. I was hoping for some added fire power to the line up, but the single greatest season for a batter in Rio Grande history? I never dreamed that. He set team records in (several previous records were held by Andres Aguilera in his great '61 season).. BA - .357 OBP - .452 Slugging - .719 OPS - 1.171 VORP - 118.1 Runs - 115 (tied the 115 by Jose Rivera last year, who is now with Colorado) Total Bases - 377 Doubles - 51 Homeruns - 39 RBIs - 144 Would have set the Triple record, had Connor Daniels not outdone him this year with 15, Tanaka had 11. 4th in team history for Hits - 187 Just an amazing year. Raul Pagan had a great year moving into the Closer job. Aguilera gets over 30 HRs again, first time since '61 for him. Reilly has a big year at first base. LF Juan Navarro signed from the Vulture league had a good year, he was my big risk move this season and it paid off. Pitching was strong with medina bouncing back to real good form. Rookie Pepe Santana made the jump from A ball to the bigs and did well. I am just extremely happy about this season. Thing to watch for, how does SP Ron Wilson perform in the FOOL Classic when he may be walking into free agency because of other players getting offered deals to extend before him?

Some of my young guys really impressed me (SP Floyd Yarbrough went 17-4 with a 3.something ERA and led the league in Ks, 2B Jim Numbers led the team in BA), but our big FA signing, LF John Donovan, was below the Mendoza line, hitting a paltry .190. At least he made his hits count, leading the team with 25 HRs.
I think our future is bright, we have a couple guys in the minors who I think will make a difference in a couple of seasons...

Colorado has an awesome bullpen, and overall they have more guys who can take the ball deep. Medina, Wilson, and Santana were very good for me this year limiting base runners though, so hopefully I can keep their power from hurting us too much.
Jose Rivera, and two other Colorado players are on the hot streak list to end the season. I hope my pitching can shut Rivera down after he refused to come back to play for us. Overall, looking at stats and the power ranking I guess Rio Grande would be the favorite. We are a bunch of newbs to the Classic though so Colorado has a big edge on us there. I can't wait for this, I am elated with my team this year.
