Wednesday, July 1st, 2026: Hernández Selected RL's Best Pitcher
The Republic League hitters didn't have a chance in June when the Hammersmith Hooligans manager wrote "Hernández" on the lineup card. Outing after outing, Alfredo Hernández held teams in check and usually got a win.

He excelled with a 4-0 mark and 1.40 ERA in 6 starts. The talented Hooligans star pitched 38.2 innings, fanned 30 and held opposing teams to a .263 average.

For his superb mound work Hernández was named the RL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

This season to date Hernández has a record of 10 wins and 5 losses with a 3.48 ERA, has appeared in 21 games and struck out 113 in 134.2 innings.

Wednesday, July 1st, 2026: Republic League Selects June's Best Batter
Free agent-to-be José Colón has inflated his asking price over the past 30 days by winning the Republic League Batter of the Month.

In June, the 33-year-old Hartford right fielder hit .430 with 6 home runs and 12 RBIs.

If he keeps putting numbers like that up, he could be hauling in a big wad of cash at this time next year.

This season Colón is batting .361 with 19 home runs. He has scored 56 runs and driven in 53.

Wednesday, July 1st, 2026: Cooper Named June's #1 Newcomer
George Cooper earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Chico center fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Cooper hit .279 with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

So far this year in 71 games Cooper is hitting .305 with 17 home runs, 50 RBIs and 49 runs scored.

Wednesday, July 1st, 2026: Hewson Voted June's Best CL Rookie
A boyish Nigel Hewson emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Boston deserved the honor, batting .286 with 1 home run and 7 runs batted in. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Hewson enjoy the limelight.

To date Hewson has chalked up a .252 average with 5 home runs, driven in 31 runs and scored 37 times.

Friday, July 3rd, 2026: 300 Home Runs for Blackmore
At Majestics Stadium J.D. Blackmore smashed his 300th career home run in a game against Baltimore today. The 35-year-old left fielder had a hand in the Montreal Majestics 9-6 victory with 2 home runs and 2 RBI. For the day he went 2 hits-3 at-bats.

At the press conference after the game, Blackmore downplayed his achievement.

"Obviously, I've hit 300 home runs so I belong in that 300 club. But when you talk about the other guys that have done it, I'm not as good as they were. Those guys were the greatest of all time. I've just been able to scrape together some good years and stayed healthy and gotten there."

In his career Blackmore has compiled a .301 batting average and collected 1997 hits, 301 home runs and 1246 RBIs.

The first FOOL no-hitter in over 2 years, and it occurs against the best team in baseball up to this point so far this season!

Thursday, July 9th, 2026: Díaz Super -- No-Hits Edmonton
In a brilliant performance at Charm Ballpark, Baltimore pitcher Julián Díaz entered an elite group today by tossing a no-hitter against the Edmonton Edge. Hurling a complete game he fanned 1 and walked 1 in the 6-0 victory.

In the clubhouse, Díaz said, "I was getting my offspeed stuff over so they couldn't sit on the fastball. My guys made some nice plays behind me, too, and cut off several hits."

In 23 starts this season Díaz has rung up a 9-12 record and a 4.19 ERA.

Thursday, July 9th, 2026: Blackmore Collects Hit Number 2000
"It would have been a lot nicer, if my 2000th hit had won the game," lamented J.D. Blackmore after the Montreal Majestics had been tripped up by the Boston Settlers, 8-3, spoiling his big day. The Majestics left fielder gained access to the exclusive 2000-hit club by going 1-for-4 in the game played at Majestics Stadium.

"The standing ovation by the fans is not something I will ever forget," Blackmore related to the press after the game. "I think even the Settlers fans were cheering me."

A check of his lifetime stats shows Blackmore has a career .300 average with 2000 hits, 460 doubles, 70 triples, 302 home runs and 1248 RBIs. To date he has scored 1258 runs, walked 840 times and stolen 235 bases.

Thursday, July 16th, 2026: Minns Crushes 3 Homers Against Napa Valley
Declan Minns, the Baltimore second baseman, put on a dazzling display of power today at Charm Ballpark against the Napa Valley Winemakers. In the 11-3 victory Minns penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single day efforts.

What a display it was -- three home runs, 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. It certainly was a day for the league record books.

"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," the Napa Valley manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so good."

Talking about his theory of hitting after the game, Minns said, "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off... the right pitch will come and when it does, be prepared to run the bases... or trot around the bases... like I did today."

So says the latest person to hit three homers in a game.

D. Minns hit a solo-shot off E. Silander in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off E. Silander in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off J. Carranza in the 8th.

Currently Minns is batting .263 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs.

Saturday, August 1st, 2026: Sierra RL Winner, Top Hurler in July
When Juan Sierra takes the hill, chances are good for a New York victory. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 6-0 mark and 1.20 ERA in 7 starts, tossed 52.1 innings, fanned 54 and held others clubs to a .197 average.

That's why the Heroes star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Republic League.

In the current season in 28 starts, Juan Sierra has a record of 18-1 with 205 strikeouts in 210.1 innings and a 1.84 ERA.

Saturday, August 1st, 2026: Wright Nets CL #1 Pitcher Award
Josh Wright has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in July and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Edge bullpen ace collected 9 saves and 15 strikeouts in 15.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .135 average and posting a 0.00 ERA and a 2-0 record.

For the year Josh Wright has made 49 relief appearances and nailed down 36 saves. In 51.1 innings he has fanned 54 batters and walked 8. His record is 5-2 with a 1.23 ERA and the opposition is batting .181 against him.

In the 6th inning vs the New York Heroes, Daniel Gil tees off against a Juan Hernandez fast ball, putting it over the fence for his 20th Home Run of the season, just one shy of the record! It was the only Run of the game for the Hooligans as they suffered an 8-1 loss at the hand of the Heroes.

Against Leon Olivares of Ann Arbor, Daniel Gil gets hold of a pitch and puts it deep into the stands for his 21st Home Run of the season! That is number 568 For his Career! He has tied Felipe Aguilera for the most Home Runs ever!

Aguilera, being in attendence at the game, comes down to the field and congratulates Gil on tying the record. The game stops for nearly 5 minutes as the crowd cheers him on. He is unable to get another Homer in the rest of the game however, so leaves this one tied atop the leaderboard.

August 8th, 2026: Hammersmith vs Chico

The Hooligans face off against Antonio Gonzalez for the Rebels today. Gil gets up to bat in the first inning, one out and two runners on.. but he strikes out swinging for the second out of the inning.

In the bottom of the third, Hammersmith leading 2 to 0, Gil leads off the inning once again against Gonzalez. He swings at a good breaking pitch however, and slaps it right into the ground. Easy play by the second baseman, on to first for the out.

In the bottom of the 5th, still leading Chico 2-0, Sosa leads off the inning for Hammersmith with a double. Dani Aguilar strikes out next, bringing up once again Daniel Gil to bat.. The very first pitch he sees from Gonzalez, he swings on.. and that is hit hard.. crushed to center field.. deep centerfield... Back... back... back... back....

And the fans go crazy, you can't even hear yourself think!!

Daniel Gil has hit a 436 foot home run for number 569! He is the new Home Run King of FOOL!!

Tuesday, August 18th, 2026: Romero Gets Number 3000
It was one of Héctor Romero's better days at the ballpark. The Chico Rebels toppled the Hartford Harpooners 23-9 and the shortstop recorded his 3000th career hit. When one CL manager was asked about Romero, his response was,"Romero in Chico is such a waste."

In his career Romero is batting .319 with a total of 542 home runs.

Tuesday, September 1st, 2026: RL Starter of the Month Goes to Sierra
No doubt about it!

I can't think of a better award winner for the month. How neat!

Tuesday, September 1st, 2026: Gil Snares RL Top Batter Award in August
Daniel Gil received the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month.

"He may be getting older," Hammersmith's manager told reporters, "But he's been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together... and he doesn't keep that to himself. He's always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping 'em any way they'll let him. Daniel's value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field."

To win the honor Gil put up a .359 batting average, 7 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 22 times in August.

In his season totals, Gil has 26 home runs, .305 BA, .412 OBP, 94 RBIs and 88 runs scored. He has played in 139 games.

And the 15th member of FOOL's 3000 hit club is....

Sunday, September 6th, 2026: Baltimore's Trujillo Reaches 3000 Hits
The Baltimore 8-6 loss to Montreal wasn't all bad. Something good came out it, at least for Carlos Trujillo. As a consolation prize he got the 3000th hit of his career. The veteran Charm first baseman went 1-for-4 in the game and added his name to the coveted 3000-hit club. He was given a five-minute ovation by the crowd, which included his wife and family and quite a few former Charm teammates.

"I could have scripted it better," Trujillo commented to the press after the game, "a win would have made it a lot more enjoyable. But what the hey... hit #3000 ain't so bad."

Trujillo has batted .316 for his career with 3000 hits, 611 doubles, 44 triples and 368 home runs and 1563 RBIs.

Ann Arbor 4, Colorado 3 - Ann Arbor stays alive just barely in the playoff hunt by eliminating Colorado from the postseason..

however... Hammersmith defeats New York 4-0 on a 5 hit combined shutout as the Hooligans clinch the final playoff spot for 2026!

Hmm, slight scheduling weirdness at the end of the season. New York and Ann Arbor ended up playing 2 extra games against each other. In the end it did not affect anything since the playoff spots were already locked up prior to those games. Plus all playoff teams are fully rested.

So no blood, no foul.. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again next year though

Daniel Gil ends the season with 577 Home runs, 9 more than second place all time (Felipe Aguilera)

Hector Romero ends the season with 542 Home Runs, as he actually hit less Homers than Gil did this season.

Luis Sowards ends the season with 3550 hits, only 6 hits short of former Boston Settler Tomas Santos for the all time lead!

Emmett Quero won 18 games this season to push his total up to 338 for his career, which passes former Colorado Ranchero Masazumi Sanu for second all time. he is just 15 wins away from #1 all time!

Josh Wright of Edmonton saves 51 games which is 2nd most in one season ever!

Juan Sierra pitches 316 innings this year, just one inning shy of the single season record.

Ben Keyte of Montreal becomes only the third player of all time (Hector Romero and Felipe Aguilera are the other two) to win the Hitter's triple crown!!

Friday, October 2nd, 2026: Fit for a King: Keyte Wears Triple Crown
Ben Keyte is sitting on top of the world tonight. He got himself a Triple Crown this year -- the 2nd player in FOOL history to ever accomplish this feat.

The Montreal Majestics right fielder outpaced the rest of the Continental League offensively this year. Keyte, age 32, hit .318, collected 37 home runs and chipped in 134 RBIs for the Majestics. He led in all three categories to capture the Triple Crown, one of the rarer feats in baseball.

"It's all about hard work," noted one club official, "Ben arrives early, takes extra BP and really make a science of hitting. He religiously studies the pitchers. Keeps a journal on all of 'em. He's very thorough."

Friday, October 2nd, 2026: Winner Takes All, Sierra Takes Triple Crown
You wouldn't have to be a baseball genius to think Juan Sierra will win the coveted Gabriel Prado Award this year. The New York Heroes ace certainly has the numbers to take it, topping the Republic League with 28 wins, 1.56 ERA and 307 strikeouts to win the Pitching Triple Crown.

"It's a great accomplishment," Sierra said told reporters, "but my main goal is to go out there and win every game. The stats are nice, but they don't tell the whole story. The 28 wins are what I'm most proud of."
