unfortunately, i think you need to pay money to start a guild, but you can still play in a non-guild party.

I'm willing to put up the money to form a guild, if it's not too expensive. I should also be on tonight for some gaming.

edit - luckily the charter is just 150 points, which is miniscule. I picked up a charter - what should our name be? FOFC Adventurers? Front Office Ferocity?

On a different note, LOTRO is going F2P next week.

I'd be much, much more interested in playing LOTRO.

Started a Ranger toon named Eirnae. Pretty lost as to what to do. Made it to second level but still have all the points to spend cuz I haven't gotten around to finding a noob guide. Anyone have a link to one?

Is it foolish to follow the game starter paths for a toon (as opposed to placing points yourself)? Stuff seems expensive, also, as some things at this level already cost platinum which is the highest coinage.

Do you repeat quests at higher level or just move on?

And what's the deal with stuff like candles and starter kits, etc....

The starter paths work fine, especially when you are just starting out. Basically there are a lot of quests, just go around and find all the ones that are your level. You can repeat them if you want, as each can be done at various levels of difficulty - but they can get really hard. Stuff seems expensive at first but once you start doing a lot of dungeons you will pile up a good bit of gold, plus you can sell magic items you don't need on the auction house to pile up some gold. Candles and things like that are usually spell components - various classes need different things to cast their spells.

Lots of good info at this link - Newbie guide - DDO wiki
I also used this link when I started to get an idea of how to build characters - Templates for New Players - DDO wiki

I've created the guild FOFC Adventurers - the leader is my character Mosso Thrun, so give him a yell if you see him on. I'll invite you guys as I see you online.

I can possibly play Sunday and next Saturday, but my weekdays are filled with work next week.

Just a heads up, once your characters get to level 3 or higher, a great place to go to get a bunch of money and xp is called the Waterworks - you get to it from the Harbor, and it has plenty of monsters including a lot of rare ones that you can get nice experience for. There is also a series of linked quests starting here that can be somewhat hard solo but yield great rewards, including nice magical items.

This area is free and doesn't have to be purchased with points.

Sweet. I know I'm level 3 on my cleric on another server, but I already feel behind considering what I'm seeing. I did make it to Stormreach with the cleric and looks like there are a lot of quests in this zone.

I fired this up on my week off and while I had fun with it, I miss the element of WoW/Diablo with the drops of defeated creatures.

I know what you're saying Mustang, but at the same time it's hard to miss the "Bring me back 10 kobold ears" quests that go with them.

BTW, once we get our guild FOFC Adventurers up to level 5, we can start mailing people invites - will help since I know some people are playing but I haven't seen them online.

anytime i'm online no one else seems to be. the game gets very hard to progress past lvl 3 as solo play. i've been using hirelings which are very handy.

Work prevents me from having a more open schedule for playing, but that changes after this week.

I'll be on more the next few days. I haven't played at all for almost a week. My main is Donia Darie - level 3 fighter.

One note - I am a terrible typer, so I don't talk much in-game. Don't take it as me being rude.
