I knew I shouldn't have read this thread. Tearing up in the workplace sucks.

Beautiful tribute back in January. I didn't man up and share similar here when we did this with our 15 YO corgi back in November. Nice tribute to Gage.

Best of luck with the current situation.

No update on Gussy today. They thought they would have had the results of his thyroid test back. But no such luck so the spinal tap is put off for another day. Also i was told that his condition has not improved or gotten worse since yesterday. I sure wish they could find out what the problem is fast.

Gussy's thyroid test came back negative. So they went ahead with the spinal tap. They were able to extract some fluid, now we wait until Tuesday or Wednesday for the results of that. He was standing tonight so no damage appeared to be done during the spinal tap. However the doctor said Gussy is showing some aggressive behavior. Another bad sign.

Not sure what to think with Guss now. I went and saw him after work and he looked much better. He was up and walking, alert he seemed happy to see me, he wasn't crying at all. He looked so much better. I just don't want to get my hopes up with him. Now we have to wait until Monday to see him.

Best wishes ... I hope these are positive signs of a recovery. We had a similar series of illnesses and deaths with our cats a couple of years ago. First Murphy developed heart failure, and unfortunately went pretty quickly. He had been wheezing and weak, then started going downhill on a Saturday morning and passed away in my wife's lap the next night. We got another cat to keep Jake company, then about six months later Jake went into kidney failure. We had to make the decision to put him down when the pain got too much. Mazie was the cat we got to keep Jake company, and about a year later she also went into kidney failure. We got her from a shelter so we don't know how old she was, the vet thought she was only about 6.

Good luck. All the best.

Well Gussy is home for the time being. He is better than when I took him to the vet on Wednesday but he is slow, looks depressed and just doesn't seem right. He also had an accident in the living room tonight. It was nice having him back home. One day at a time.

Guss just had another accident in the house. He just doesn't look right. He does not look like a happy puppy. Hopefully we get an answer tomorrow.

I've never had a dog myself (well, unless you count the one my family had when I was like 2, but she wasn't around long enough to form a bond with), but my wife did when she was growing up, and she always talks about what an amazing friend it was. Once we get into a bigger house with a bigger yard, we definitely want to get one. Best wishes to you and your family, Seg.

Well the results of Gussy's spinal tap came back and of course nothing was found. Tomorrow we should here the results of a culture test. Then we just wait until after he is through with his meds and see how he responds. He is still peeing in the house. He no longer does the things he enjoyed. He is taking our food off the kitchen table. He does not look like a happy puppy. It just doesn't feel good to me.

We are going to put Gussy to sleep this week. He ended up going after one of the kids at our birthday party this weekend. Luckily my brother in law grabbed him by the neck. Wish we knew what happened to him, but we don't feel he is a safe dog to be around anymore. It will be a sad day at our house this week.

It is cold comfort to say this, but you are doing the right thing.

I am very very sorry.

That really does suck. But you are doing and have done right by him for as long as you can. Try to take some solace in that.
