Sunday, August 1st, 2055: Medina Claims RL Batter of the Month Award
In the last year of his deal with Hammersmith, António Medina has created some waves by winning July's Republic League Batter of the Month title today.

He put up a solid .337 batting average with 6 home runs, 21 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He also worked RL pitchers for 15 walks and a .427 on-base percentage.

If he keeps churning out numbers like these, the 32-year-old is sure to draw some attention, when contract time rolls around.

This year Medina has batted at a .255 pace with 97 hits, 19 home runs, 64 RBIs and scored 64 times.

Sunday, August 1st, 2055: Baltimore Second Baseman CL's Best Batter in July

Sunday, August 1st, 2055: Melanson Top of His Class in July
Larry Melanson earned July's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Ann Arbor center fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Melanson hit .357 with 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 21 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This year Melanson is hitting .334, produced 54 RBIs and 18 home runs, scored 86 times and gotten on base at a .382 rate.

Sunday, August 1st, 2055: Boston Rookie Biggest Vote-Getter in CL
Whenever Settlers left fielder Wilson Álvarez stepped into the batter's box last month, the 28-year-old meant business. With his .304 average he virtually ran away with the Continental League Rookie of the Month Award.

He collected 24 hits in July with 5 home runs, 12 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

To date this season Álvarez is hitting .295 with 13 home runs.

Tuesday, August 10th, 2055: Number 2000 for Hashimoto
What a day for Kazuhiko Hashimoto. The 35-year-old Ann Arbor third baseman reached the 2000-hit mark today and the Winged Lingerines whipped the New York Heroes 15-2.

Hashimoto told reporters, "It's good to finally get it. The closer you get to 2000, the harder it is to get there. Now the pressure is off and I can go back to just playing ball."

He went 3 for 4 in the game to reach the milestone.

Hashimoto has played in 1837 games with a .307 career batting average and 2002 hits. He also has scored 1112 runs and driven in 1219 runs with 314 home runs.

Thursday, August 26th, 2055: Correa Notches Number 200
History was made today at Charm Ballpark -- Carlos Correa won game #200 to seal his name in the league record books. The Baltimore ace downed the Boston Settlers 7-2 to gain entrance into the elite 200 Club.

"I was wound up at first. I think I threw too hard," remarked Correa, "I had to calm down and go out there and pitch... not just throw. I think I got better as the game wore on. I started to think less about 200 wins and more about doing what I had to do."

His career stats show that Correa has racked up 200 victories and 145 defeats and has recorded an ERA of 4.17. He also has fanned 2102 batters in 2947.2 innings and allowed 2966 hits.

Damn mediocrity. I was hoping the offense would be enough to overcome the patchwork rotation but it doesn't look good.

Sunday, September 12th, 2055: Going Once! Twice! Gone Again! 3 HR for Cantú
If you were sitting in the bleachers and brought your glove to the Rebels-Hooligans game, there was a good chance you'd catch one of the three home runs hit by Félix Cantú. The Rebels left fielder repeatedly sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir and led Chico to a 15-1 win over Hammersmith.

"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub... not thinkin' about home runs. I'm just thinkin' about winning ballgames. When you think about home runs, you very seldom get 'em," he philosophized in the postgame press conference.

Cantú was 5-6 on the day with 5 runs batted in.

F. Cantú singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off J. Long in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off T. Pineda in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off S. Cuevas in the 8th and walked in the 9th.

This year Cantú is hitting .308 with 157 hits, 31 home runs, 96 RBIs and has scored 109 runs.

Hammersmith has clinched a playoff spot!

Hammersmith 88-73 (m# 1 for homefield)
New York 87-74 (m# 1)
Colorado 87-75 (1.5 GB)

Colorado's season is done while Hammersmith and New York both have one game each left.

-Hammersmith win and they clinch homefield advantage in the RLCS.
-Hammersmith loss and New York win means New York clinches a playoff spot and there is a 1 game playoff between the two to determine who wins homefield advantage
-New York loss and it means a best of 3 playoff between New York and Colorado to determine who makes the playoff.

Hammersmith clinches the 2055 Regular Season RL championship!

Hartford 8, New York 7

New York loses and falls into a tie with Colorado for the final playoff spot. A best of three series between the two teams will now decide who makes the postseason! New York led the head to head regular season series with Colorado 20-7 so will have home field advantage in the best of 3 series.
