Shiu Gets Number 2500
Saturday, August 7th, 2088: Zuo-lin Shiu's bat made good contact with the ball as he has many times in his career, but this time it added his name to an elite list of players with 2500 hits. The Colorado catcher went to the plate 3 times and racked up 3 hits to gain the honor. But the Rancheros couldn't pull off a win -- they fell to the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines, 7-2.

In his 2310-game career Shiu is hitting .270 with 2500 hits, 575 doubles, 36 triples and 393 home runs. He has scored 1224 runs and driven in 1614.

Wednesday, August 11th, 2088: Marlboros shortstop Chris Brady reached a career milestone yesterday, blasting home run number 300.

He took the achievement in stride. "It's always good to get another home run and even better to get another win," Brady told reporters in the postgame interview.

He went 2-4 during the Toronto 4-3 triumph over the Chico Rebels and scored 2 runs with 2 RBI.

During his career Brady has played in 1519 games, batted .258 with 300 home runs and 1527 base hits.

2500th Hit for Mendoza
Saturday, August 21st, 2088: The box score from yesterday's game will show that Noblesville beat the Apex Assassins, 12-4. It will also show that right fielder Pepe Mendoza went 2-for-5 for the Millers. It will not show, however, that Mendoza reached the 2500-hit mark for his career.

The 34-year-old Mendoza reflected on the achievement after the game. He mused: "In one respect, it's a real milestone, I guess. Yet, it's just a base hit like any other base hit."

Lifetime Mendoza has played in 2032 games, batted .305 with 426 home runs and 2500 base hits.

Just got in from working job #2 and it's good to see Apex back up there finally. I know it doesn't do much good now, but I thought Ramos might break out this year.

I should have compared teams before this evening began. It might have given me much more realistic expectations.

Clark Swats #300
Saturday, October 2nd, 2088: At Ballpark of Napa Valley Larry Clark smashed his 300th career home run in a game against Napa Valley today. The 33-year-old first baseman had a hand in the Baltimore Charm 9-3 victory with 1 home run and 1 run batted in. For the day he went 2 hits-4 at-bats.

At the press conference after the game, Clark downplayed his achievement.

"Obviously, I've hit 300 home runs so I belong in that 300 club. But when you talk about the other guys that have done it, I'm not as good as they were. Those guys were the greatest of all time. I've just been able to scrape together some good years and stayed healthy and gotten there."

Clark boasts a lifetime batting average of .250 with 1340 hits, 300 homers, 835 runs scored and 982 RBIs.

Brunswick has clinched a playoff spot and homefield advantage in the RLCS!

Hammersmith, Toronto, Hartford and Ann Arbor are in a deadlock for the final playoff spot as only 1 game separates the 4 teams with 3 games left in the season.

With the type of day I've had, I know this is the year we'll have a 3 way tie for the spot to have to work out

Ann Arbor plays its final 3 games at Hammersmith
Toronto hosts Brunswick for its final 3 games

Hartford has finished its schedule. For Hartford to have a postseason chance, Ann Arbor must win 2 games from Hammersmith and lose the third while Toronto loses at least two games. This is actually the armegeddon scenario that will result in a 4 way tie.

Toronto 5, Brunswick 4

Brunswick 89-72 (clinched)
Toronto 84-77 (m# 1)
Hammersmith 83-78

With Toronto's win, Hartford and Ann Arbor are both eliminated from the postseason.

Toronto clinches with a win or a Hammersmith loss. If Toronto loses AND Hammersmith wins, it will force a best of three series between the two teams to determine the winner.

Triple Crown for Pepe Mendoza
Thursday, October 14th, 2088: This season, Pepe Mendoza exhibited a rare combination of hitting both for average and power. Indeed, the Noblesville Millers star claimed baseball's Triple Crown, leading the Continental League in batting average, home runs and RBIs.

"I've always taken pride in my ability to hit the ball," Mendoza said. "But honestly I never thought I'd put up numbers like that."

He led the Continental League with a .342 BA, 44 home runs and 136 RBIs. The 34-year-old Millers right fielder is the 7th player in Front Office Offseason League history to do this rare feat. Quite a year for quite a player.

Whats funny about Kawakumi is that he actually has a high 80's range yet I think this is the 2nd time he's won that award....bizarre...

Oh man, so close! Shoot. Congrats to the playoff teams and good luck tomorrow night...

Weird fact for the three 83-79 squads in the RL. We were all so close to getting into the playoffs...and two of us will have protected first round draft picks.

Good luck to everyone else in the playoffs. I think we have the starting pitching, but there are a few too many holes in our lineup. We'll need a bit of luck tonight.

Not a bad showing this year considering I was "on vacation". It was hilarious when I completely counted myself out of the playoffs by losing every game that 3rd week of september. I had some good newbies come up. I have a ton of people in single A. Hopefully they will start blooming.

Um....teach....WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?

Good job Noblesville. I guess the namechange did it. I grew up less than 2 hours away from that very location. I remembert swim meets in Noblesville

It's a mystery my friend! And now I fear we're on the downward spiral. I will miss our former glory!
