Give me a freakin break.
Go after his family? You really think people were insulting his family? Unbelievable. Why, because they said his unborn child should be given to a circus? Sorry people, that isn't insulting his wife. . . that's a direct insult to HM himself. Some of the others: God Help Us All Anyone Else Hoping This Is A Joke? I Hereby Resign My Citizenship to Society. Daddy, Will You Teach Me To Be Cocky And Funny? Daddy, I Want To Learn How To Edit. Just Reading This Thread Makes Me Feel Dirty, I Need To Go Take A Shower. I'm just wondering, when little Miss Horns is old enough to date, will HM teach her how to be cocky and funny so that she can pick up girls? and the one post which could be considered borderline: "While you're at it, spank your wife for me... she told me she likes it." That one joke is going after someone's family? Are you kidding me? The rest of them are making fun of HM himself. Most aren't even that severe of attacks. I don't give a damn if HM comes back to the forum, but people crying for him and making him out to be some kind of wrongfully persecuted guy is a joke IMO. TroyF |

Troy,
You mean those are the oh-so-terrible things that were said in the Dad thread (or whatever its called)? That's it? Hell, I'd say there's a dozen or more people here that have been ragged on a lot worse on a regular basis. And aren't there several regulars who are subjected to "that's not what your wife/mama said last night" type stuff almost routinely? I think this whole topic just went from silly to f'n stupid.

Of course, that might be because he's Canadian and has no balls...

I feel so left out...i didn't get a PM from horned...i stuck up for him in the dating advice thread with ragone and i get nothin...once again Blade6119 gets overlooked....
I didn't read the dad thread so i cant say what was appropriate and what was not...but first of all, one thing that really got to me was this quote: Quote:
No offense to Skydog, but this seems to me like he lets a lot of things go on BOTH sides of the argument, but when something happened to skydog he was gone....i also feel this quote has a lot of truth: Quote:
Can skydog know wat PMs he recieved and what he did not recieve?...if he can, than i dont feel even the PMs i have are too private...ill say things that would not fly on the board in PMs, a few even back and forth with HM...I know he has a lot of enemies, and he was attacked for having a differing view point...he gave advice he thought was good advice, and because people on this board don't have the same view, he was attacked...Im sorry, but thats just plain pathetic to me...and dont even get me started on if someone attacks skydog verbally...so many people flame out at them, really reminds me of flameboys... ...just a few points from a person with a differing viewpoint, who if my theory holds up will be fought back against....

what about this quote...i feel this one is pretty offensive....it states that if he has a girl he can teach her to pick up chicks as a lesbian...im sorry but this is not a joke:

Jon,
Yes, those are the terrible things said in the Daddy thread. They were taken directly from a post where HM blew up and threw a fit saying he was being persecuted. How those comments turned into HM's family being insulted and his wife's honor destroyed is completely beyond me. Again, I'll reiterate, I don't care wheather HM is here or not. My preference is that he stay away, but I'm not asking that his ban be permanent, that's for Skydog to judge. I just think it is amusing he's being turned into this martyr who had no other choice but to fight back. TroyF |

Dola,
Blade, I had that quote in my original post of quotes. That isn't crossing the line or attacking his family. Again, that's attacking HM and his style of meeting women. It isn't attacking his wife or non-existent, as yet, offspring. TroyF Please note that the original post with the quotes above does not have the same EDIT mark that this post has. It's kind of important that you understand I didn't leave that quote out and edit it back in later. Thanks. Last edited by TroyF : 04-30-2003 at 03:08 AM. |

Troy: Quote:
Im sorry, if it is in there then I overlooked it and retract some of those statements, but not the ones about how that quote comes off....i feel that is a very offensice quote for an expecting father...im all for jokes, and ill be the first to admit that some of the HM cracks were funny....6 months ago!!!...draw the line somewhere and get over it!!! I have an example for ya:JeeberD and i had a nice little argument in another thread, but we got over it and can now nicely talk to each other or playfully rag on each other....especially when it comes to X-Com(hopefully the feelings are mutual) You THINK he cheated in a league you guys played, so you flame him for asking about advice for an expecting dad? You guys make me sick...that to me is a very honest request, coming to a place where he knows there are people(wonder who ) who will flame him, and he asks for help in a very personal matter....come on...you talk about how none of you flame and how great of a board this is...these things make those statements void...you jerks may think its funny, but i say its not, and whos to say whos right or not?...apparently skydog is, and it appears to me he chose the side of the jerks...and don't try to tell me HM was the jerk...he got banned for defending himself in a personal topic, then permabaned because he made skydog mad with his supposed dis-use of trust...but as i saidin an above post whos to say he didn't get the dad PMs...i just wonder how much better this board is then the others when we complain about their fanboys, and weve got a nice little set right here...

In no particular order: 1) The quote about HM's daughter being treated like he suggested we treat women was funny. It was also well after HM had blown up. No, it wans't a direct attack on his family. It's REALLY hard to attack a person who is not yet out of the womb. It's also clearly a joke. Nobody wishes HM's children to have any problems. The fact they are HM's kids are enough of a problem to live with. (that's a joke, relax) 2) Skydog IS the deciding factor. He's the moderator. Period. 3) I've never said this is a place where we don't insult others. As a person who has been insulted on more than one occasion by the very guy we are talking about, I know that is clearly false. 4) I didn't play in the league he cheated in. Had I played in it, I would have treated HM the same way I treat Pete Rose. I'd think he was a damned joke until he fessed up and admitted it. He would ALWAYS be a joke to me and I'd let him know about it every chance I got. Does that make me a bad person? Feel free to make your own judgements. 5) The term "fanboys" is 100% out of context. I'm not going to waste bandwidth explaining to you what a fanboy is, but you need to find a new term here. 6) I like how you use the term "you jerks" Who exactly are you referring to? The guys who posted the insults? (note: I wasn't one of them) People like me who believe he walked right into most of them and that they werne't really that bad? Would I then be a jerk because my opinion differs from yours? Interesting. 7) You said yourself HM KNEW he'd get teased in a personal topic. If the teasing bothered HM, he should have never started the topic up in the first place. I'm sorry, but if I go to a place where I continually feel "attacked" and "insulted", I'm going to find another place to ask personal questions. 8) I'll reiterate, nothing from the list in my first set of quotes should have set HM off. If you want me to give you quotes which REALLY attack the guy's family, I'm sure myself or others could show you some. TroyF |

The problem here, Blade, is what you consider an attack on someone's family and what I (and I think MANY other members of this forum think) are two very different things. I've yet to see a true attack on HM's family that crossed the line of decency. Like I said in the previous thread, if you want some true insults, I think many members of this forum could take the gloves off and show you what those are. Since i don't want thisa to be a flamewar, im not goin to post anymore, but i will say that some of your points are valid, some arent...
The term Fanboys i use not because the ones here are, but they act in the same manner(sticking up for something almost religouly....not a game, but a person in this case).. The jerks i referred to were the posters of the insults...you were not in that generalization. I think its funny how you try to threaten me with: 8) I'll reiterate, nothing from the list in my first set of quotes should have set HM off. If you want me to give you quotes which REALLY attack the guy's family, I'm sure myself or others could show you some. I've yet to see a true attack on HM's family that crossed the line of decency. I know Skydog is the moderator..period, but i just think its funny that people rag HM for months, maje jokes about his family, and he is the one being banned after "supposedly" not following skydogs wishes...just found it comical...no biggie I bid you all adieu, as i am off to threads that actually mean something(like maybe a guy asking for advice as he is going to be a new father)...

to be honest, you'd be doing Kyle a favor by not letting him back in. This forum is ruining his life, he's always so stressed out over it, and giving him a forced vacation from the board would probably be the best thing for him right now.
so let's end all of this Bring Horns Back talk...if you really care about Kyle, you'll continue to ban him from being a part of this community. |

I have two entirely opposite encounters with Horns. The first happened a year or so back when I was purchasing a computer from Dell. I ran into some problems where they told me my order would not be shipped till after christmas, when I needed it. I posted a message on the board and right away I got a PM from Horns that gave me his work number. He told me to call him and he might be able to work things out. Well I did and he was able to tell me how to get my computer quicker. He even gave me some insights on how to save a few bucks while getting the same computer.
The second encounter has to deal with the whole "cheating" issue. Honestly I wasnot 100% sure that he did it. But as more info comes out, and this is happening in other leagues too, it looks as if he did. That's his own fault, he should have never cheated in the first place. I usually like to give people the benefit of the doubt. If I were to have an online league I would probably let him in if the other owners allowed it. Given that he follow strict moderation. I have had a few conversations with him over the phone when I was getting help buying my computer. This was all going on when the FOFC'ers were making fun of his affixation with the Texas Longhorns and Chris Simms. What he told me was that most of what he posts is just posted to get people all fired up. He likes to see people get all pissed off at him because at the same time he finds it quite amusing. So maybe he is just trying to see how far he can push things before he gets banned. But at the same time maybe he crossed that thresh hold of not caring what people say to caring. I dont know where this is going but I dont see the big reason he is banned. He should know that people are going to jab at him when he posts so why not just ignore them. I must say this all is quite amusing to me though. I have finally got access to this site at work and I was laughing my ass of reading all of this. Man do i miss this board. |

I agree wholeheartedly with TroyF. And I think those comments and HM's response are at the root of the issue here. We ALL crack on each other. Especially those who have been around for awhile. We talk about each other's families, wives, girlfriends, etc. You take it for what it is, you cull out what you don't think is funny, and you read only the advice if that's what you want.
Look at any thread that started as a serious topic about someone's life around here. The responses are a mixture of honest advice/thoughts about the subject, off the wall comments about squid or whatever is the flavor of the month around here at the time, insults, jokes, etc. Some serious topics get threadjacked into discussions that have nothing to do with the original intent. Some stick to the point, but still contain jokes and such. Very few people get offended by that kind of stuff. And with HM, it was as if he was waiting for the first off-topic response to his request for advice, and then he was off again - where no one else would have batted an eye. No one here knows his wife. He doesn't even KNOW if he's having a baby. So whining about an attack on his wife and child rings hollow to me. We had fun like this back when the "what if one of us died" thread was hot, and he posted about leaving a note in his wallet for his wife to find about this place. We had a helluva lot of fun with that - including comments about his wife, if I recall - and he didn't cry victim (well, relatively speaking, anyway) in that thread that I can recall. The bottom line is, he knows what the protocol is around here on any given issue, but he chose to take an every day occurrence and turn it into something more than that, simply because of who he is. I remember when he first showed up around here and was taking shit for the UT arguments he would start, and I PM'd him to explain that he needed to get himself established before he went off, because he had yet to develop a "persona" on the board. Well, he did develop a persona, and it's followed him everywhere he goes on this board - just like the persona each of us has. He has no one but himself to blame for how everyone thinks of him. And btw, I've been admittedly back and forth on HM, offering substantive advice/thoughts, while also taking shots when I thought it was warranted. He and I have had some spirited debates about a number of issues, like his dating advice. I didn't mind that at all. But his victim mentality and unwillingness to let things roll off his back honestly grated on me. For the most part, I let others call him on it, but still made my feelings known when the issues arose. Funny enough, he chose to send me the "Thanks" PM for some reason, I assume because my last response in the child thread was real advice. Putting aside the latest incident with SD, I don't mind having him around. But what happened between him and SD is between them, andsince Sd is the moderator, I give him the benefit of the doubt. The issue here isn't whether he should be allowed back because his conduct on this board wasn't all that bad. As I understand it, it's because of the recent abuse of SD's willingness to let him respond to a PM. That's another issue entirely and if it serves as the basis for his ban, then the rest really doesn't matter.

Lets be honest here. Who secretly didn't enjoy HM being around on this board. Since I am fairly new here I'm just going on recent discussions, but he seemed to be FOFC's guilty pleasure. You know ... like going home to watch Jerry Springer at lunch or something like that. You know why we watch or in this case read stuff like that . . . Becuase inside we're thinking ... "where does that freak come up with this stuff?" We'll miss him just like we miss all of our guilty pleasures once we give them up. Hell I say bring him back just for the humor (or for our English friends humour).
HMs problem was his tone. His advice always came with calling people wussys. He was inviting flaming becuase he knew that using the term "wussy" would inflame people. If he were really sincere in trying to help people then he would have approached it like this. "Hey guys, here's an approach I've used that has worked for me and some others. Maybe you ought ot check it out and here are some details of it." Wihtout going into the insults. Also, what is this cheating incident people are talking about? I think some of the new posters should hear of it so we can fully understand the Horns saga. |

I think DevaneyFan quit posting because of some of that, is he still on any board? DF was a valuable poster, it would be nice if he came back.

He said he didn't care about the board anyway. Who cares, the guy is a dink. Let him go.
edit, this was meant at horns, not devanyfan btw.

You know, despite how entertaining this thread is, you guys are still giving HM the attention that he craves. There can be no better solution than the subject of HM becoming irrelevant and disregarded.

Well, since my name was mentioned above, I guess I should respond.....
I don't particularly see eye-to-eye with SkyDog on his moderation of this forum as a whole, although I do accept that his word (and Ryan's) are final, and I play by those rules. To say that I just support SkyDog in everything could not be farther from the truth. In fact, I hardly know Skydog, I have rarely, if ever, conversed with him, and I certainly don't always agree with his moderation decisions, but this one is spot on.

I guess you guys have a lot more history with Horns, but if I posted that I was having another child and someone suggested I sell it to the circus I would have to be banned also.

bama, it is not fully clear whether HM is even married, let alone expecting a child. His constant pattern of lies, deceptions and coverups throws anything he says in doubt.

Well, with horns, you can't make fun of him, but if you post anything serious, he is an ass to you. But a guy who graduated from Rice and has such a great job a Dell should be able to move on. Besides, with all the ladies he can pick up, I was suprised he even had the time he had to spend here.

Give it a break, half of you apparently didn't even read the post most people are referring to as where all the 'attacks' on him happened... Anyone else would of just laughed at those things and went on with his posting, not fight about it... Especially when you consider how he's always saying how the internet doesn't matter, he has no real friends here and how he doesn't care what anyone thinks. The only 'wussy' I see is the people crying about every single thing said to him, and how its some big flame against him. He always wanted to talk about being a man but you could say the slightest thing to him an he'd get his panties in a bunch... so yeah, of course it looked like attacks. |

Does anyone have the address to HM's game review website. I still haven't received all the free stuff I was supposed to get and I want to see if it got lost in the mail.
thanks |
