Much like Adam Silver, whomever is the post Rog is just going to have to roll back some of the dumb changes and he'll become a beloved leader.

Really have to say after a couple years of it now, I hate the Thursday night draft. It was a lot nicer to have it over the weekend where you could have the whole family and friends over and make a party out of it. You might even be able to barbeque in some places if its warm enough now that they have moved it back. On Thursday night its just an overhyped event and this year one where the #1 and likely #2 pick won't even be there. I'll watch of course, but I won't enjoy it as much as if it was on over the weekend instead

I too was a big fan of the Saturday/Sunday format. Saturday was just packed full of intrigue, you got 3 rounds of fun instead of just one, and yeah.. You didn't have to go to work the next morning typically.

Though the first round intrigue has made for some fun talk radio to listen to.

Of course just an opinion but I think a couple of you are being a bit hard on Mariota. A poor man's RG3? Mariota is more like Cam Newton with a more accurate arm IMO.

Winston is going to be your prototypical passing NFL QB. I cant see any comparison between him and Cam unless you mean in that 6-12 range of NFL QBs.

Winston, if successful long term is going to be everything Bryon Leftwich could've been. And I'm good with that.

Big Ben seems like the best comp for Winston. Pocket passer with a huge frame to take hits. Great arm strength. Athletic enough to escape the pocket when needed, but not one of the NFL 2.0-style running QBs. Off-field maturity issues. Risk taker on the field--for good and bad. Respected by teammates and coaches.

dola--and if he becomes as good as Big Ben, then he will be a very worth-it #1 overall pick.

I'm seeing some mocks with Beckham-Green going to the Bengals.

I'd be OK with that.

I wouldn't. Marvin Jones will be back this year and will make a good #2. The Bengals need DT, DE, OT, or LB before they need another receiver in round one.

Draft is deep in the defensive front seven. I'd rather see a CB before a LB or OT.

Doesn't this guy have Josh Gordon/Justin Blackmon written all over him? And not in a good way.

Marvin had a lot of issues with trouble players in his early Cincy years, such that the Bengals became a joke over it. This guy has "issues" written all over him. No way I draft him early.

Minuses: Green-Beckham won't win Walter Payton Awards. Arrested twice for marijuana possession and allegedly involved in burglary/domestic violence incidents. Disturbing. Considered 'lazy' and 'disinterested' by some. If he's unwilling to build sweat equity, will be out of the league in short order given bad attitude reputation. Unpolished route runner. Missed the entire 2014 season due to suspension. Despite rigid frame, doesn't use strength to his advantage. Struggles at times beating press coverage.

Doesn't sound like someone that's worth the headache.

I agree, that guy sounds terrible. I can't imagine anyone would draft him ahead of this WR prospect, who sounds totally awesome:

Quote:
Standing at 6-foot-5, 237-pounds and equipped with 4.49 40-yard wheels, [he] is a physical marvel. His long strides and sheer length allow him to beat defenders without breaking a sweat. Soft hands. Fantastic catch radius and body control. If paired with an accurate QB, could wreck havoc on back-shoulder throws. Dynamite field-stretcher. His adjustment skills and ladder-climbing abilities are Mike Evans-like. Given his imposing size he typically plays chuck-and-pluck with passers. Could develop into one of the deadliest downfield/red-zone weapons in the game.

Of course he has the physical tools. If he didn't, we wouldn't be talking about him. Five or ten years ago, the guy is an obvious high first-round pick even with the character flaws.

But after Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon, and the NFL's cracking down on behavior issues, you may have a guy who works his way out of the league quickly. Seems like a huge risk to spend a first-round pick on. Now if Miami could get him in the third, fourth or fifth round, I'd be all for giving him a chance based on the minimum cost of acquiring him.

Two first round picks would not be enough, so it might just be the Browns shopping for a bargain. And, as a rumor, it's likely not even true.

That said . . .

Really, Cleveland? Mortgaging the draft (and probably some of next year's draft) for another first round QB? That's really the smart play here?

I know people will probably think I'm crazy, but I think it's too early to bail on Manziel.

So, it sounds like Titans will deal the pick to the top MM bidder, which is where many/most of us thought this would end up. I think they could come out of this really well in terms of overall value.

Yeah I'm sure if the rumor is true, it will make Manziel even less confident he can recover from his first year. Stupid move if true and they let it leak.

It's been a long time since I have focused this little on the draft. I think it's probably because it's been a while since this Lions have been this far down in draft order.

Don't worry, though, I expect them to rise back up to the top next year!

Well, I see the large build, big(ish) arm, and conventional dropback style. Some questionable maturity issues (though Ben & Cam's maturity issues are different than each other) but overall solid, but not elite for extended period type of QBs.

I'm not sure I'd call Cam a scrambler. Maybe a little in his first few years but I see him as a pocket passer, albeit more mobile than Winston.

Yeah, I knew I wasnt going to like it either. And it has not grown on me at all. Like not 1 little bit of redeeming value.

Its money grabs like this that really make me hate Roger Goodell's smug face.

Giants need to go OL. Not sexy but they have to open holes in the running game to let Eli play action and have time to throw. I have seen some talk they may go Gurley. I may lose my mind. I could buy cooper because he is so talented thought I
Think it would be a mistake. Of course I also hated the OBJ pick.

Think my beloved Cards will go LB, DE or maybe RB now that the trade for Peterson isn't going to happen. (thank god!) Coach Arians likes to hold true to his board however so watch for a surprise.

The Cleveland trade not happening Cleveland says quite emphatically. Also I think this may be one of the wackiest drafts yet-seems to me that more of the top players have character issues, and no one can really predict how that will affect the draft.

Well I suppose that's true, but Minnesota has sounded pretty clear that they are not trading him tomorrow. Peterson should just stop whining about his "hurt feelings" and think how lucky he is not to be in jail right now and/or had his kid taken away from him. And given the Cards woes at the RB position, he would likely tear a MCL first day of training camp anyway.

Hoping the Vikings will pick Kevin White or Devante Parker at 11 and find somewhere to trade Peterson to, but don't think either one of those things will happen. Spielman will probably trade back and take someone terrible and keep Peterson, but such is the adventure of cheering for a team with one of the worst GMs in the league.

Agree! The Vikings paid him last year when they easily could have released him. They also lost sponsors because of him. He only has himself to blame for any of it.
