I know there were a few bumps and bruises along the way, but, sincerely, thanks everyone for the patience.

League has been "started" so make sure to set your lineup and make any moves you want to make before the season. Remember, season starts Sunday night.

A couple of notes:

1) Not everyone who is going on the DL has been put on the DL yet. If this is like previous seasons, they will by the start of the season but not all teams have made those transactions yet.

2) You will have no one on your roster for today (Thursday). However, if you go to Friday or beyond, your players are there.

Yeah- they had some fluke little thing where you could set your lineup on Saturday for today's games. I still haven't been able to figure that out.

But you need to set it before midnight tonight for this week!

Not sure if anybody is looking to deal, but I've updated my trade block in the league. I'm mostly looking for pitchers or an upgrade at catcher and have some middle infielders and outfielders to deal.

If you're interested, let me know. Nobody is really off limits.

Dang it- I haven't done a good job with updates. I try to post the standings at the end of each month. So, here's our mid-May update:

Division 1
1. Road Kill Cafe 48-28-8 .619 - 8-6-0 5 7
3. Richmond Rhinocerii 48-29-7 .613 0.5 10-1-3 10 17
4. Killing Me Smalls 45-34-5 .565 4.5 6-7-1 4 3
5. Queens Bees 44-33-7 .565 4.5 1-10-3 8 6
9. Freud's Psychos 35-46-3 .435 15.5 6-8-0 11 12
10. Hunters 30-44-10 .417 17 7-6-1 7 17
Division 2
2. Insomniacs 43-35-6 .548 - 9-5-0 12 10
6. Skipstache 42-35-7 .542 0.5 6-6-2 9 14
7. Hartford Heroes 41-37-6 .524 2 6-6-2 2 30
8. Blacksburg Transit 38-37-9 .506 3.5 10-1-3 3 4
11. CleBrownsFan 30-47-7 .399 12.5 5-9-0 6 7
12. Troy Trojans 20-59-5 .268 23.5 1-10-3 1 6

First off, everyone except for Troy has made a move as recently as this week. He made one a week or two ago and often doesn't make that many moves so that means everyone's active.

Currently, there are 4 team clusters at the top of each division and at least a couple of different teams have been in the lead. Not only that, but the differences are not so great that if you're in last, a good week or two and you're right back into things. The difficulty comes in with stringing a couple of those together and avoiding the catastrophic weeks.

I'd be all for the ability to change lineups up until the first game on Monday, kindof like Fantasy Football lineups but Yahoo doesn't do it that way, unfortunately.

Honestly, I do them sometime Saturday because I've been burned too often by the Sunday thing. Usually by then I can figure out who is going to 2-start pitch the next week.

Our pitching matchup this week (Rhinos and Killing me Smalls) is just sick:

40.2 IP 2-2 1 Sv 36K 1.99 ERA 1.11 WHIP
and the only point I'm winning is WHIP because here are his stats:
44.2 IP 5-0 5 Sv 46K 0.81 ERA 1.16 WHIP

Just sick.

That's a good cue for the May update

Trout Division
1. Killing Me Smalls 63-44-5 .585 - 11-3-0 4 4
3. Queens Bees 60-42-10 .580 0.5 9-3-2 8 9
4. Road Kill Cafe 56-46-10 .545 4.5 3-9-2 5 9
6. Richmond Rhinocerii 55-50-7 .522 7 3-11-0 10 18
10. Freud's Psychos 49-59-4 .455 14.5 8-5-1 11 14
11. Hunters 43-56-13 .442 16 5-8-1 7 20
Squid Division
2. Insomniacs 58-48-6 .545 - 5-9-0 12 11
5. Skipstache 55-49-8 .527 2 4-9-1 9 17
7. Blacksburg Transit 52-49-11 .513 3.5 7-5-2 3 4
8. Hartford Heroes 50-52-10 .491 6 5-7-2 2 33
9. CleBrownsFan 47-57-8 .455 10 9-4-1 6 10
12. Troy Trojans 35-71-6 .339 23 9-5-0 1 8

Everyone is still most definitely active with all teams making some sort of move in the last week. As for the standings, I found I could rename them so there's that. If anyone has better name ideas- I'm all for it but I figured this was simple for now.

In the Mollusk Circuit, CleBrownsFan has tightened things up so there are now only 10 games between 1st and 5th. Insomniacs and Skipstache are still 1/2 but Blacksburg has passed Hartford for 3rd. Troy is still in 6th but hoping recent changes to the team help make some noise.

As for the fighting fish, none of the top 4 are in the same place they were just 2 weeks ago. Killing Me Smalls now has a half game lead over Queen Bees. Roadkill Cafe and Richmond have fallen from 1/2 to 3/4 but are still close. Freud's Psychos and Hunters have both inched a little closer but will need a big week or two to jump into that top cluster of teams.

Remember, for the playoffs, the top 6 teams, regardless of division, make the playoffs. However, the top 2 seeds (who get byes) go to the division winners. We might be getting a preview of that this week as #1 Killing Me Smalls is playing #2 Insomniacs.

If anyone is willing to deal pitching and needs a 1B or CI, let me know. I (Hartford Heroes) am willing to move Billy Butler or another bat for pitching.

Pitching from those middle rounds (8~15) seems to not be doing nearly as well as it has done in years past. There definitely seems to be a lack of it as I know I'm having that problem as well.

With the moving, I didn't get in the update after the first week of the month so we'll have to settle for the second. BTW- remember no IP limits next week with the All Star Game. However, you do have to get at least 1 IP to win a couple of categories and there's also the IP category to win.

Trout Division
1. Road Kill Cafe 103-66-13 .602 - 9-5-0 4 10
3. Queens Bees 94-77-11 .547 10 8-6-0 6 12
4. Richmond Rhinocerii 92-80-10 .533 12.5 9-5-0 11 24
5. Killing Me Smalls 93-81-8 .533 12.5 0-13-1 3 8
8. Freud's Psychos 88-87-7 .503 18 12-2-0 8 19
11. Hunters 65-99-18 .407 35.5 3-9-2 10 39
Squid Division
2. Insomniacs 99-74-9 .569 - 6-8-0 9 14
6. Hartford Heroes 89-81-12 .522 8.5 13-0-1 1 42
7. Skipstache 86-84-12 .505 11.5 2-12-0 7 21
9. Blacksburg Transit 81-83-18 .495 13.5 9-3-2 2 4
10. CleBrownsFan 80-93-9 .464 19 5-9-0 5 14
12. Troy Trojans 54-119-9 .321 45 5-9-0 12 10

Killing Me Smalls had an absolutely brutal week and has dropped from 1st in the Trout to 4th. He's still in 5th of 6 places for the playoffs, but that's a far cry from being in 1st last month. Speaking of which, that now belongs to Road Kill cafe who over the past month has gotten an 11-0 record with a sub 1.5 ERA from CC Sabathia and Mat Latos, a bit of an odd couple pairing. Queen Bees and Richmond Rhinocerii have stayed where they are at 2 and 3 in the Trout. Freud's Psychos have some work to do but they're not very far out of a playoff berth and are winning 10-4 this week. Hunters have had good to great pitching but the hitting just hasn't been there and they're pretty far back.

Insomniacs continue to be the class of the Squid division and have widened their lead. In fact, both division leaders are quite comfortable at the moment, tho who knows how long that will last. Hartford has climbed from a little ways back into the pack for the other playoff spot from this division. However, Skipstache is only 3 games back and looks to just be going through a little bit of a hitting slump (except Holliday). Blacksburg Transit looks like they might have fallen inactive as they haven't made a move in a month and has 4 players on the DL in his starting lineup. For the record, everyone else has made moves recently and are active. CleBrownsFan is still well within striking distance but injuries keep stacking up. I think he might be cursed. Finally, well, Troy- he's had a couple of nice Cardinals bright spots in Rasmus and Garcia but it's hard to overcome the horrible first halves from Texeira, Hill, Upton, and Sandoval.

Still 2 months to jockey for playoff position and trades are due by August 1.

Wow, just checking back on the draft to see what I should have done better and where I did well and it's pretty easy to say that this may have been my worst draft ever.

16 of my 27 picks aren't on my team anymore (and only 1 of those has been moved in a trade). Of the other 15, 8 have found homes with other teams in our league (though I'd argue that only around 4-5 have been worth starting).

Of the 16 still on my roster 3 have spent significant time on the IR and in my rather impatient approach to finding replacements I've certainly made a few mistakes on the waiver wire.

That said, I've still got my fingers crossed as I should get Tulo back some time next week. With Aramis Ramirez (hopefully) figuring out his stroke, if I can get the offensive side of the equation going, I'm just hoping I haven't dug too deep of a hole to get out of before our regular season ends.

This week and last are not being kind to me. I'm a little disappointed yahoo made the short week a full week as opposed to making it one longer week.

Yeah I was surprised by that myself - a longer week would have been nicer.

Still trucking a lot - just hoping my guys stay healthy and keep on performing. Pavano has been a nice surprise (I don't expect it to last, heh)

The short week killed me too. I had a real good run going then I got chopped to pieces by Mizzourah's buzzsaw and am still reeling this week. My once vaunted pitching staff has had its first slump of the year. Hopefully, they get it turned around.

With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, we have yet to have a true blockbuster deal. With that in mind, I am putting Prince Fielder on the market. As the esteemed general manager Cosmo Kramer might say, "All interesting offers considered."
