That's how I understand it also, that the King has a sort of unlimited duke ability. But down four pawns, a queen and a rook doesn't help black much.

Just got my night PM, busy board. I've got to go to lunch and do some work before trying to figure it out.

Yep, that's my read. Honestly Neon, I didn't see your reveal. Not saying that it would have made a difference but still. I was afraid the game was going to turn out this way, once it became clear that Pass' reveal safeguard wasn't working.

Ok, never mind then. I thought they could be lynched, but that they had a one time duke action.

I never saw aything before page 20, I logged in really late to deadline and had to get a vote in, I read the vote status and voted based on what I thought of those with votes and the numbers at the time.

Sorry NC, your reveal had nothing to do with my vote at least.

OK, I suspected NC was a knight based on his post # 141, he seemed to know a lot of detail about their power and it just tipped me off and stuck in my head..that is why I didn't want to vote for NC and I wanted someone to scan him tonight, but I guess now that isn't necessary.

Ok. This is why No Lynch would have been the best option since Day 1. Play the chess game, and let the wolves kill of ONE PLAYER AT A TIME.
Black, if you want to at least have a chance to win, you don't help weed out the wolves until the White numbers are down by two or three. Even then, us winning is a complete stretch based on us losing the queen.

I asked Pass one other question as to whether or not a roled piece that did not move would get notification as to who was around them. Answer: yes.

So Lathum, you are not a bishop otherwise you would have gotten a PM saying who was around you on the board, blocked move or not.

VOTE LATHUM

and why would I give up information like that.

Really it doesn't matter. White controls the vote. From my understanding even the lone black pawn left thinks it is white. So with 3 white pawns left that makes 12 votes against me.

Whats the point really?

am I missing something?

Well, when I voted for you yesterday and gave my reasoning, your explanation was that your move was blocked. Then you revealed as a bishop. And now I know that was a lie.

White has a big advantage right now, yes. But believe it or not, I'm actually trying to find wolves.

What you're missing is that the wolves will want to move the vote to a white player, to even things up. Also what you're missing is that the villagers would rather lynch a wolf than a villager on the other team.

I tried to move, it was blocked, bishops can't jump over other players.

Don't be fooled by the White Propaganda!

I would rather lynch a white piece than a wolf right now. Better yet, a white piece that's a wolf!

We know he's lying because he claimed to have no knowledge about how someone would know where pieces are on the board. When I put together that must mean that he was a black pawn that didn't move (since all white ones did and only pawns that didn't move would not get notification of their position or those around them) then he revealed as a black bishop and said he was blocked -- and that was why he didn't know about the positioning PM's.

Well, after clarifying with the GM, we know that all roled pieces would get information as to what was around them, so he's lied about either:

1) Being a bishop.
2) Pretending he didn't know how one would know who was around them.

There's no reason at all that I can think of (even for someone as secretive as Lathum) to cling to number 2 so hard that you start gathering votes. But either way, his story just isn't logically true.

It's not the fact that you could have been blocked. It's the fact that you claimed you got no information as to pieces around you. I think you just messed up.

Path, I think you're way off base here. What Lathum was confused about was how people knew that THE JACKAL was at a given position. That's entirely different from what you're suggesting, and is entirely consistent with Lathum being whatever he says he is.

I've got to get back to work, but I'll go back and find the post later.

I think you're confusing the original point. Lathum started this by questioning how anyone would know what pieces were where on the board. Probing that led to all the things that don't add up. I'll lay it out later.

Again, this is nothing more than pointing out inconsistencies in a story. That is most often looked at as wolf behavior, isn't it?

I think you are confused. Lathum's question came right after I posted which space The Jackal was in. Its not at all surprising that he would be confused by that.

If the one person controlling the two pawns diagonally in front of Lathum's black Bishop didn't move (whether intentionally or not) or didn't vote (and thus their piece didn't move), then Lathum would have been blocked in, right?

(Wow, this has been sitting open in a tab for a long while. Others may have said the same, but I'm going to go ahead and post it blindly)

Or, Lathum may have had an earlier "move time" than whoever was in front of him.

Pass did not tell us on Day 0/1 what pieces were next to us because it was at the standard startup. After Night 1, if Lathum wasn't able to move, perhaps Pass still didn't tell him what was / wasn't around him?

Might be a question for Pass - "if someone didn't move the first night would they find out what was around them?"

Of course you are looking for wolves first. With such a strong board advantage, you want to take out the wild card. However, you want to look at wolves in Black, so that way you auto get a black piece. You won;t even bother to hit a white piece unless you know its a wolf. I'm saying its no surprise.
