I have a couple of thoughts on wolf vote today but will see how the day plays out while I'm at work.

Boy, we had a lousy friday.

I move to reelect KWhit as our leader, given that he is the only guy in the game we can all be pretty sure of.

We are going to have to come up with a bill that can pass but won't get vetoed or take a big hit like the GOP just did. Any ideas?

Yeah, sheesh. We gained popularity in the nation (with now a 52/48 advantage over the Repubs) and we're nearly all behind.

I also think we have a descion to make today.

If we are voting for someone in our own party I think I have to go McCollins for his late vote on Tyrith the other day almost at the deadline, choosing Tyrith over Mrs Schmidty.

If we assume there were 2 wolves per party, we have a 1/6 chance if we go republican and a 1/3.5 chance if we vote Dem.

That beiing said, if we vote a Dem we give up the numbers control with Paths death last night

I think everyone took a hit for voting off EF, but the GOP took another hit for offering no bills. If our numbers are this bad, imagine what theirs look like.

We also need a Speaker nominee and a Presidential nominee.

I think KWhit may be good choice for Prez. 1) Free re-election; 2) few wolf worries. He could be too liberal for the job, so he might not win, but that might be worth the offset of not having to worry about his reelection.

When I voted for Tyrith (someone I already had suspicions about), I did so after seeing your vote for him when I had barely enough time to get any votes in before the popularity deadline (which I missed anyways).

PackerFan has voted for himself in the main thread to remain the Speaker of the House.

I think nominating one of our more liberal members is essentially handing the Presidency to the GOP - we need to nominate a centrist like Henry or Chubby.

that is an easy thing to say.

I would rather vote along Party lines and take out Tyrith or JEHeinze, but I dont know if everyone will go for that

I've had suspicions on and off all game long about Tyrith, Heinz, and Pass.
Of course, it could just be that they talk more in the main thread. But, IIRC, Tyrith pushed against vetoing bills with wolf riders early in the game when most thought that was a good idea and Pass. was behind the over-reaching clauses in the first GOP bill.

Pass laying vote #1 on Mrs. S and leaving it there seems counterintuitive for the action of a wolf. Especially since it was a 1 vote margin, as I recall.

I should note, Mrs. S. "won" the vote 7 to 5, but no one knew what PBs vote was until after the deadline, so it functionally was a 1 vote margin.

I would be shocked if Pass was a wolf.

Heinze is mostly a feel, he has been pretty off this game

Yeah, my thoughts on Pass were from before the Mrs. S vote - that's about as cleared as you can get without a scan.

I think we should go after Tyrithg or Heinze. Heinze may be a good target since we could take over his district if he is voted off.

We need a prez candidate, I know that much. And I figured might as well keep me in as speaker, unless you guys want someone else in there. I have no idea what to do for bills today.

What about a bill that allows the Dr and the BG to see whom the other is protecting? We could consider adding knowledge of who the other individual is.

would never pass, i think our best bet is to propose a change to an existing role.

maybe increase the bg IDing a wolf percentage or something

Or allow them to put 2 names so as not to overlap. (Since CR won't be online to respond to the Dr and BG)

Are you suggesting a backup choice? Only two people would be protected each night. Would the BG get first pick? If so, we could allow the Dr. to pick two.

Either way - doesn't really matter who gets priority. Perhaps the BG gets priority since it was created first and then, yes, just the Dr. submits two names.

No one extra gets protected, but it ensures that they don't overlap. It's an important measure and a Democratic one (since both roles are considered Dem).

Pass just told me that he talked to CR today, who said that about the only way anything is going to pass the courts is if we suptract power from elsewhere. The GOP is interested in working with us to do an addition/subtraction as two different bills.

CR has really given us a catch-22. Damned if we pass something, damned if we don't.

And again, we need to decide on a Presidential candidate for today. I suggest Chubby, since he is our most popular party member right now.

I am leaning towards doing nothing legislatively and just taking the hit. Passing anything only gives the wolves another role and gets us only marginal benefit.

at some point CR will stop giving the wolves their concesions also.

chesapeake, look at how many of us are down in our election polling - not submitting a bill will be an across the board hit for us.

That depends on whether we want to win the presidency. The most liberal or conservative congress persons won't win in the centrist districts.

My legislative proposal:

Whereas the Wolf Party is bad -- very very bad.
Whereas Democrats and Republicans stand united against this most unamerican threat.
Wheras the American people believe Congress has passed enough laws for the moment. And,
Whereas the American people still want Congress to pass something.

Be it resolved:
Any wolf party rider attached to this bill is immediately declared null and void.

I support KWhit for party leader. The problem with him as prez as I think has already been brought up, we'd be close to handing the GOP the presidency. He's behind in his local polls and is not close to moderate.

I'm fine with running for President. I'm moderate, the most popular Dem and pretty cleared based on my actions.

Safeguarding Against Redundant Protective Services Act

Congressional Sponsorship: KWhit and McCollins

Whereas, it is possible for the Bodyguard and Healer to protect the same person in a single night;
Whereas, this wastes a protection for the safety of the village;
Whereas, coordination of the protective services members would require revealing their role to the village.

Be it resolved that:
The Healer may submit two names in order of preference for protective services on any night and if the Bodyguard chooses to guard the Healer's first choice then the Healer will protect their second choice.

Honestly I am waiting to see what KWhit does and follow his lead, I trust him and he is way smarter then I when it comes to politics.

That is pretty modest. It has got to have a chance of passing. And we won't cry when the president vetoes it.
