It's true, after we had two deaths on Day 10 of the challenge in Fuchia Block, we had multiple folks level up as well - a majority of them in fact. Of course, the really big news is that two of these deaths came to players that were arguably in the Top 5.


Sparkles, what do you think we're seeing here?


Well, if you'll recall, the Dungeons were amped up a bit, and the audience wanted to see more party action, so more rooms are made "party friendly" by having multiple foes to face if you have multiple people entering the room. This used to be a minority of rooms, this year, that was a major change of emphasis, and that means being in a party still helps, it's more safe certainly, than rocking the block all by your lonesome, ,but it's not as safe as before.


Of course, the benefit of that change was to make classes that were better in a party (Lay Healer) more practical, to add in more XP and rewards for parties, and so forth. Btu the problem is that you are more likely to die in a party now. And that has been a very positive change in the game that a lot of folks liked, but the results are that we've seen a lot of high profile deaths all over, not the least of which was in Fuschia Block.


Sparkles, frankly, i wouldn't be surprised to see Ragone or dubb die any day now either.


True. It' gets harder and harder as you go along. Anyway, here are my new rankings:

I mean hey, it's hard after you lose two from the top to figure out where everyone else shakes out - but every player on the list is either level 6 or 5, and it ain't rocket season, if you catch my meaning, so we'll see some movement up or down, but not a lot of layers moving too far up the list barring some more deaths.



And moving on, we had serious controversy in the Cerulean Block when front-runner Dervish, who entered a room with an Altar and Shrine to Chaos, chose to clean it up and fix it, rather than destroy it further,



It was a tough call. Destroy it for your lawful tendencies? Or clean it up for your Dervish ones? So what do you think Sparkles?

C'mon Sparkles-I'm Level 3, by myself, sill my original armor and weapons, I have to be way up there in the top 5! And why wasn't I given a chance to clean up the altars huh?

You walk into the room, and the temperature drops a bit. There’s wooden floors, a stone fireplace crackling with old socks hanging from it, and a conifer dressed strangely with a skirt and tinsel. As you move into the room, the Conifer moves towards you and attacks!


Conifer Golem – THACO 15, AC5, 40 HP, Damage 2x1d8 twigs, 4000 XP. After destroying it, you find 100 gold of various assortments under the tree.

I know where I am! I know where I am! I had to move randomly due to the spinning cage, I chose left and entered...The Crypt of Kurong! That means I must be close to Znarled and Gorm! Can you tell me where you are now in relation to the Crypt? Not sure I like my choices going forward? Are the trews tough? Any room I must see to get good treasure.?

You can probably handle the Trows (we were lower and had trouble). We are in the Jade Snakes room and were hoping to move forward to the other side of the Trow room from here, but no door. Also, all these lvl 1 rooms are probably not worth your time. Would be cool to hook up though.

sure if north is the top of your map. then south of the dye making room is the moon pool and to the east of that is the fungus room which has openings north and east to a level 1 room.

south of moon room is the medusa room. with openings further south and east.
South of the medusa room is the Thoqqua. with openings south and west.

south of that is level 1 rooms

And to be more accurate, we were level 2 and it took two tries to kill the trows that appeared, leveled up to 3, then we faced 2 more and run awaaaaay run awaaaay . . . they sent us packing.
