I think that's not a bad idea. I believe CF has claimed/been proven to have three skills already : camo, kinship, sixth sense, so he may not have hunting, but could also be lying.
My question is, why mau? You getting a feeling that he cleared me as a wolf to buy trust? I sort've figured out of the three scans so far (mau, CF, bug) one of them might be lying, but if it was any it was CF. I don't know if mau's done anything suspicious enough for me to get onboard that train in light of him scanning me. |

JAG scans PF Bug and CF scan CR mau scans me Wondering if we have any left. |

Dialing into the Day 1 vote, since it is the one we should know the most about.
Zinto's vote for DT (post #77) makes a wolf the first person with two votes. I think this is meaningful ... doesn't seem like a buried vote. Ditto Lathum's DT vote in post #78, for same reasoning. Given timing on vote, and subsequent posts, Lathum thought this was 2nd vote but logic still holds. PF votes for mckerney in post #84, bringing it to 3-2. Given that a wolf has the lead at this point, what are chances that a wolf picks another wolf among the five people with one vote? Nudge in trust for mckerney. 85 and 86 - Jackal and Bug cast votes for others with one vote, bringing it to 3-2-2-2. Certainly could be villagers voting with idea of keeping vote close, but this isn't helping their cause. 93 - Chief Rum creates 3 way tie of candidates in front of him. This is what I had suggested DT should have been doing on Day 1 as a villager playing self-defense: create more candidates in front of him rather than racing someone out in front and reducing his flexibility to manipulate the vote later. Flat neutral reaction to this, expected survival move. 101 - same thoughts as above with mckerney voting for CR to make it a 4 way tie. 106 - Dward votes for Chief Rum, tying him with Darth Vilus and helping to protect DT. Bump upwards in trust for Rum. 117 - DT votes for Vilus, splitting late wolf votes across candidates (DV/CR) and making me think that we're villager/villager at this time. 151 - Ninja vote by mauboy at deadline on DT pushes him over top ahead of DV. |

Overall, from the Day 1 the person I would be gravitating towards would be Jackal. But he's got a scan, so it only makes sense to hit him if we think that we're down to hunting for the cunning wolf or if mauboy would have a reason to lie.

I deleted some pms I shouldn't have in order to clean out my pm box. I may send a couple to a few of you to get the pms I sent back in my box.
Specifically, i deleted my Night Two pms to people about any actions they sent that night - can you send me your Night Two results if you still have them? Thanks!!

Since it's been mentioned a few times the reason I have mau as neutral is that I'm not sure what a wolf would do in his position. I think the best move as a wolf would be not to vote - but I think most people have morals about avoiding votes for in-game reasons rather than external reasons. But if I was in mau's position and I was a wolf I'd PM an apology to DT and vote him out. You save him and you have to know that he's going to get heat and as soon as he dies you're next. The other way you get trust for being the guy to vote out a wolf. This doesn't mean that that's what happens though - I'm just, well, ambivalent to it.

I am trying to think of a way to save this game, but I cannot. This game is irrevocably broken, because I made a mistake on Night 2, and it has permeated the game ever since, and there is no way to fix it, in game.
I don't know if a GM has ever canceled a game before because they screwed up, but I screwed up massively in a BASIC way, and I feel mega bad about it. This game has ended, unfortunately. Apparently my games are doomed to be star crossed. Sigh. More info in a bit.

Well that is a bummer.
Abe, sorry to hear that something got irrevocably hosed. I know that I've certainly had my share of screw-ups during games I've run and that some were worse than others in terms of overall game impact. I had fun with this one while it lasted. Would you be interested in running this ruleset over again sometime in the near future? Maybe with a couple minor tweaks just to keep people guessing a bit? |

Although I've been my usual obsessive self during a lot of this game I've really appreciated some of the banter here - if the game is over thanks to everyone who played for making this a fun game.

Here was the issue:
On Night Two, mauboy scanned The Jackal, and it was revealed he was Kai, he is not, he is an Agent. He has no cunning abilities. I messed up. mauboy comes out on Day 3 from the guns and says - I've got an Agent. You vote off The Jackal, and the votes that day are different. He does have Hunting, so someone bites it, probably not dwardzalla, and the next day, you off The Jackal. Then JAG likely comes out and says, I have another, and it's PF. You have much different analysis. PF jumps out, and gets voted off, another Hunting trigger, and then dies the next day. Meanwhile, when just one Agent left has a special attack power, their power becomes unblockable, as a sort of rally. PF will get an unblockable Mindblast instead of the unblockable Weaponskill Jackal had. The attack on Night 3 is successfully blocked, instead of not blocked, and that player is still alive. then the unblockable Mindblast works on N4 and N5, and then PF dies and the wolves have no special attacks left, just a normal one. Results: Lathum probably still has Hunting, dwardzilla and Danny are still alive, PF and The Jackal are out, two randoms are hit with Hunting, and the Agents are in a really bad place. So, getting one seer scan wrong had that sort of impact on the game. I have no idea how I missed it, it's in my very extensive database. I didn't catch it, I thought mauboy was using threadplay to clear The Jackal while getting in close to see who he was working with, until I went back and realized that simply wasn't the case at all. I didn;t get confused over any difficult mechanics, I missed a fucking seer scan, that's so lame.

Sorry dude. I almost verified with you again since your ending to the pm was "there is no doubt of this..." kinda sounded like you were trying to tell me he was an agent.

And there is no way to fix it. What do I do? Shoot The Jackal from above with a lightning bolt when, by all rights, he should have at least a day and a night, and probably two days, with Hunting? Doesn't that move mauboy into suspicion for claiming an Agent was a Kai? Do I give the Agents another night action, and move to Day 7? There's no answer that works.

They said in a pm that they would have understood if I gave it to the village at this point, because they are so far in the back. Losing DT was rough, because he was their only person with 6th Sense, and checking the abilities on targets prior to targeted them would have been very helpful to the Agents.

We should have checked with you as well. We just assumed that mindshield had somehow kicked the scan back incorrectly. Agreed that the game would basically be over if the scan had been reported correctly. |

There were no roles in this game, and that precludes a third side.

Actually, I've been working pretty hard on The Dungeon 2 rules to perhaps run soon, but seeing me miss on this, with a lower level of difficulty, maybe I don;t want to do it just yet....

Once dward went down and we only had weaponskill left, Jackal's weaponskill became unblockable.

Until The Jackal fell, yes. I mention it above, that the last wolf with an attack skill has it become unblockable. Mindblast would shred Mindhsield, and Weaponskill would slide past Healing. This was to enable wolves to get past the land mines of defense out there. For example NINE players chose Mindshield. Four Kai had Healing (although some missed deadlines, and they were always defending the same person more than one every night, so they were not coordinated).
