Does anyone else think they only initially tested the game and install on one configuration? They probably installed it on a PC with an ATI card just for the heck of it and found that it wouldn't run.

Beta Tester 3 - My backup RB just ran for 400 yards in a game.
Beta Tester 4 - um...My QB just threw for 700 yards in a game. David Winters - Excellent! That just demonstrates the flexibility of the game! None of those text sims can do that! |

In preparation for MF's inevitable release some unknown super bowl sunday in the future, let's put the customization of MF to good use.
1) The field is 500 yards long and 500 yards wide. This will open up the sweep again and make those DE's stay home once and for all. 2) Referees carry Bec de Corbins. 3) Land mines that spew bits of hard-rubber shrapnel are randomly placed by players previously blinded in games due to the removal of any rules regarding eye gouging. If you step on one you get and extra down. 4) The endzones are only 2 feet deep. Why? Because we can. 5) No goal posts. Kicking is for the soccer mod we are developing for MF next. 6) No Defense—both offenses are on the field at the same time and there are 2 balls in play. Hopefully you score before the other team! 7) The player's wives section is really close to the opposing team so they can hurl insults and rotten fruit at the opposing team. 8) Players from the Negative Material plane must sign waivers that they will come nowhere near players from the Positive Material plane for fear the universe will collapse. 9)Bigby's Clenched Fist is only allowed once per quarter and then only if the QB has memorized it 4 times. 10) Anyone entering the endzone must make a Save vs. Victory Dance or suffer a 350 yard penalty to be assessed at the first sign of a Bugbear. |

How the fuck can you make a game and take out the option play altogether. It sounds like the AI guys would keep trying to tackle the QB while the ball carrier would run for a TD everytime. That'd be funny. Last edited by stevew : 02-22-2006 at 10:26 PM. |

Sorry, SkyDog, you won't be able to customize an option offense. I guess they just lost a sale.

The goal posts are not editable as far as size goes. 2. The option I've had to take out of the game for the time being. I had it in there but it was such an AI breaker it wasn't even funny. I'm sure people will probably find plays or routes that can cause the defensive AI problems but I didn't want to leave in something that was THAT obvious. So until I get that sorted out, I've have to leave it out. Double hand offs are still in there though. (in reply to frunky) [Send Private Message] Post #: 7

I still can't get over the guys that are dying for this game. After everything they've seen they still believe that this is the game for them. I wonder if they'd be so anxious if it was something more concrete than software.
Salesman: Welcome back Mr. Zowee. I see you got our email about the imminent release of the Maximum Ford. Mr. Zowee: Its gonna be so frickin sweet! Salesman: Well, I hate to tell you that we're actually not going to be getting the delivery tonight. Mr. Zowee: But you promised! Salesman: I know, but things came up after we prereleased at the auto show. Its not a big problem, but right now we can't make the car run at all. We hope to have it fixed by Thursday. Mr. Zowee: Why should I believe you now? Salesman: Remember the pictures I showed you. Its a car that looks like a Fiesta, but its customizable, baby. With a new body, a new engine, a new interior and new tires it can be an Explorer or a Focus. Its your call. If you have a fully equipped garage and body shop this shouldn't take more than several months. And you can switch it back and forth when you want to, plus several months to convert. Mr. Zowee: Frickin sweet. Salesman: And its legal in the United States and Canada! Mr. Zowee: I'm sorry I doubted you. Please convey my apologies to your lovely wife. I can't wait for this car!!!

Yep. Or more accurately, a double reverse. How the AI can deal with a double reverse, but not an option play is quite intriguing.

It's funny that they had to remove the option because it breaks the AI, but the AI is supposedly fine with user made plays, multiple rule sets, etc. Personally, I expect relatively few bugs but I think the AI is likely to be horrid (not to mention the lack of basic features expected in modern football games).
