You can prioritize The Wire if you want the best show, Breaking Bad if you want the best show that you can catch up on in time to watch some of it live, or Parks and Rec if you want something you can get through faster b/c its a half hour show. There, now its a much less daunting list

And when you're finished with these, combine the role of cops and criminals and watch The Shield.

Yeah I think The Shield is a really underrated series, especially in its last season or two.

+1, it has a perfect buildup, every season was better than the previous one IMO, and its probably my favorite series finale to any series.

It's been ten years since I last watched it, but these were pretty much my thoughts, too. I'm due.

Watching Red Dawn (85) the other day and I just can't believe how low the sound engineering work standards were back then. Laughably bad. Student film level bad.

And I can't believe they botched the remake of this either. Should have been easy to make it enjoyable.

I've got a guy with the same name and a similar email address (I think it's a UK vs. US version of gmail issue) and I get all sorts of interesting things. I've tried emailing him, but he never got back to me, so I never forward anything on to him - wonder if he gets copies or not.

I think he founded like the UK version of hotels.com or something...he's a successful entrepreneur. So I get...let's see:

1) Family emails from his mom (not anymore)
2) Emails from somebody who apparently rents 1/2 a duplex he owns in NYC or something
3) His login credentials for the university in the UK where he was teaching a couple classes
4) Invitations to events from Richard Branson's like..."Virgin Unite" organization
5) Reports from the various Limited Partnership's he's invested in
6) Networking-type emails

It's pretty hilariously voyeuristic. I've resisted the urge to do any meddling so far. Dude never responded to any of my emails though, so I don't feel like forwarding them or just deleting them.

Weirdest thing I got sent to me was bankruptcy filing papers for someone with a similarly-spelled name. Had to actually CALL the law office that sent it to figure out what to do.

One of my relatives (I think it's a relative, it makes sense geographically) gave her email address to New Hampshire Public Radio and either gave it incorrectly or the person took it down wrong, so I ended up with a receipt for the donation they made. I used the number in the receipt to call the house and asked for the right email address to send it to...that family pronounces their name differently than I do. I've gotten some other things intended for her since then, I usually reply to give them the correct address.

And once in college I got some disgusting porn that was intended for Kevin P. It came from a Quebec email address and the text in the email said (in French), "they're not very pretty but they're big." The previews were enough for me...

Oh, and somehow I keep getting JHU Alumni emails (I never went to JHU) asking George Wilson III (or something like that) to update his contact info. But there's no phone number to call to let them know of their mistake.

What am I supposed to do with mail that is sent to my address but not addressed for me?

Sitting here with an important tax document piece of mail addressed to a girl that I guess lived here before I did.

My wife has had some canadian guy accidentally send her small amounts on paypal before. They share our last name and the intended recipient has a similar first name. Its possible that his @hotmail name is the same as my wife's gmail.

I just watched Galaxy Quest for the first time ever. How was this movie not a massive hit? It holds up really well. And Sigourney Weaver was like 50 when this came out, but is really hot in it.

Well, first season was strong, second season was a mix of hits and clunkers, third season started off bad, but the second half was vastly improved and the last episode or two were close to Season 1 quality from what I remember.

So yes, while the trajectory of the series has been to get steadily worse (this season frankly continued that trend, but I was initially hoping for a Season 3 type comeback), the jump the shark episode didn't happen for me until now.

*shrug* It is what it is.

FWIW, Heroes, which is another example of this season by season downward trend almost to a T, I quit watching pretty early on in Season 3.

Manhunt continues for ex-police officer wanted in 3 deaths - CNN.com

My nephews & nieces cousin and his fiance, were killed by this dude. I didn't know the couple, but, they seemed to be pretty good people. Their cousin had just proposed to his fiance just a few weeks ago and this shit stick of human decided to kill the daughter of the man who DEFENDED him when the LAPD was trying to kick him out of the department.

My life's philosophy (for the most part) is, "Just leave people alone". If someone messes with you, pick your battles, but, mostly, just leave people alone. Monica Quan and Keith Lawrence did nothing to deserve this. All because of some stupid ass who thinks he was wronged, maybe he was, but, that doesn't not even come close to justifying his actions.

I'm not asking for sympathy or anything like that, all I'm asking for is if you ever feel the need to kill other people because you feel justified in some warped sense of self righteousness and backwards logic, just jump off a bridge or put the gun to your head first and leave other people alone.

So, that's my random thought of the day..."Just leave people alone" and maybe more Keith Lawrences and Monica Quans in this world can continue on with happy and productive lives.
