For the record, I really like Chrysler's new imaging ad campaign focusing on Detroit.

After two blowouts in the early games, two great games on now. Not watching the UK/OSU game, but obviously I see the back and forth score.

FSU - VCU is quite entertaining.

Glad I went out for dinner and missed the early games. These late games look to be close late!

I give a lot of credit to the Kentucky defense, but I also feel like OSU has just missed some shots. Likely bothered by the Wildcats length ... I'm just not used to seeing some of these guys miss shots like they did in earlier part of 2nd half. Last few minutes they have looked tight.

Until Diebler cans a cold-blooded 3 to tie it with 20 seconds to go, right as Im typing this.

And that one ended in a hurry ... brackets are pretty much pandemonium at this point. Anyone with Kansas has to feel very good, but I'm not sure there will be many brackets featuring any other champs that have actually advanced to the Elite 8.

I can see someone with UNC, UConn, and Kentucky brackets.

Not mine- I had Ohio St/San Diego St/Pitt/Kansas, but I'm sure they're out there

I have one team left in the Elite Eight. And it is Kansas.

Ha, nevermind...I'm middle-of-the-pack, somehow.

The guy currently in second in the bracket challenge will have 7 of his 8 Elite Eight teams in if VCU wins. His only miss was Butler; he had Wisconsin beating them. That's filthy luck right there. Some informed choices, sure...but filthy luck added.

Yeah, but VCU's offense for the last.. oh... 3 minutes at least of game time have been bad.

They've got to find a way to start getting buckets or FSU could really pull away here.

True, but going into OT momentum was certainly in FSU's favor.

I wonder (not really) if there have been any studies done between hard sighs before free throws and free throw percentage. It seems like, whenever someone's at the line, and they take a big breath before they shoot, it's not going in.

FanGraphs, get on it! ; )

Crap. I thought you meant "bad" like "late 80s, Michael Jackson" bad, and hence, thought it was an even better idea than I originally thought.

VCU needed to score there.

Just like the end of regulation, they aren't hitting shots to create separation.

I have a really bad feeling right now.

So, as I watched UK/OSU for most of this time (as that was ending earlier)...when did VCU give up on offensive rebounding? Seems like they're content to try to get one good luck and then rush back.

Wow... VCU was great in their first three games but I have no idea how they won this one. THIS was the more traditional mid-major "hit a bunch of threes and then hold on for dear life" type of tournament win. They were just much better than their opponents in the first three, but they did everything in the "How To Lose in the NCAAs" handbook tonight and somehow got away with it.

As soon as we saw it would be FSU rather than ND, most CAA fans were actually MORE worried because of how FSU matched up.

Now Kansas is another story altogether. Will take one heck of a game to pull that out.

It's unbelievable how the tournament has broken for Kansas. I've never been sold on them as a national champ but it seems like they can't help but win the whole thing now. The blood of #1 seeds is splattered everywhere. Go figure. It almost seems too obvious for them right now.

Don't think VCU has it in 'em though... but I think Butler's a solid 50/50 shot against the Gators.

What an ending.

I knew it'd be a first-to-70 slugfest. But I was worried for VCU there for a bit. FSU didn't just get outplayed in the end, Leonard Hamilton got completely out coached. Loved it.

No way. That program is a wasteland in the making. And reportedly Xavier's coach turned them down already.

But yes, I think he's gotta go this year if he's gonna go at all.

I am literally stunned by this years tourny.

We are looking at a final four of either NC/Kent, Ari/Uconn, Fla/But, Kan/VCU.

Im not sure what was up with Ohio State. They hadnt played close to that poor on offense all year. Im not sure if they werent used to the athletes on Kentucky or what the problem was but I am shocked that they arent advancing.

Atleast Duke lost to a team that went crazy in the 2nd half. Ohio State has to be disappointed in their performance.

I don't think people should be that stunned. The season had a ton of parity to it. I am stunned by Ohio State's loss since I think they were by far the most talented and balanced.

Added to the impressiveness of VCU's run is they've played one more game than everyone else still left in this tournament.

Crazy how things shook out for Kansas. They can get to the final four playing no one higher than a nine seed. They then have a decent chance of playing an eight seed to get to the championship game.

Makes me wonder if that's the easiest route to the championship ever.

I agree about Kansas having the obvious road, but weren't we saying that about OSU as well?

Idano. I'd put VCU's chances around 10%, but if they play like they did against, oh, let's say GTown - it's certainly possible.

I wasn't saying that about OSU. I was worried about both KY and UNC. I think KU could have gotten to the championship against any potential opponents, but they have the possibility of not playing anyone in the top half of seeding until the championship game. That's incredibly lucky.

I don't think the observation is about the perceived quality of the various teams assigned to the region. It's about the actual seeds of the teams that the #1 actually got to play. And this year's Kansas team clearly has a shot to advance to the title game by playing, in all likelihood, the lowest aggregate seeds of anyone, ever. Their region has set up perfectly on this front, just by the obvious math of the hard bracket system.
