Passionate? Yes. Classy off the court? He'd be #12 on most B12 lists if they were ranking the coaches on class. Guy's a grade A jerk, though he has done a better job of covering that up of late. Quote:
Pretty spot-on. He struggles to land the big fish without help. Would definitely have an easier time of it at Arkansas. His coaching stock is a bit overinflated in all honesty. Not a bad coach, but if you're an Arkansas fan, you're hoping he's the third or fourth choice on a list of candidates. |

8:17 AM and the hatred wells up within me. From the BB gun shooting Morris twins to the Morningstar corruption to the Point Plankin' Taylor, there's really nothing to like about this group of schmucks. Just another set of filthy beakers who deserve a good beat-down.
By the way, I'm shocked that Tyshawn Taylor's indefinite suspension lasted through two easy wins and that he's now reinstated for the MU game. That Bill Self is a real disciplinarian. |

Disregard. No reason to piss off every Missouri fan.
I will say that I do think the following is large enough on this forum that a Missouri Tigers College basketball thread would be a nice addition. This way we can have a thread about Missouri/Big 12 basketball and a separate thread for whatever else happens in college basketball. Last edited by jbergey22 : 03-05-2011 at 12:28 PM. |

This is supposed to be digamma's job, but he's slacking off so go Crimson, they've setup an Ivy League Championship game tonight, Harvard v. Princeton, ESPN3. Too bad ESPN couldn't pick that game up for TV. You know you want to see Harvard in the tournament!
Edit: Crap, nevermind, I read a blog with some bad information. Princeton still has a game after this one. If Harvard wins tonight, Princeton has to beat Penn in their last game to force a 1-game playoff..... Last edited by molson : 03-05-2011 at 11:58 AM. |

Ok Thanks. The reason I asked was someone had requested adding a Ivy League Championship game in FBCB2 so I wasnt clear if it was requested because it was being added to RL or if it was to break a tiebreak in the particular persons dynasty. |

I know there's usually a complaint that the refs don't call an even game for Missouri, but that shouldn't be a complaint today. If they keep calling it like this, Missouri is definitely getting the benefit of lenient calls from the ref.

Coastal Carolina plays today at 4pm on ESPN 2 for the Big South title. The "Great Eight" will likely need all the help they can get with just 8 active players on the roster, so tune in and cheer them on.

I just read that the ncaa tournament (and presumably, its tv partners) will be calling the traditional 1st round (round of 64) the "second round" this year, after the "first four" round. It kind of reminds when they got rid of the regional names a few years ago and tried to get everyone to remember that Duke was in the "Albuquerque bracket" .

I think the Kansas-Missouri game just set basketball back 30 years. Barely over a minute and a half of game time and nearly nine minutes passed.

Thomas Robinson's offensive board/tip-in around the 5 minute mark was the best I've seen in awhile...and that at the 4 minute mark he pulls off another beautiful one.
Couple mins behind on the DVR but Missouri is 1-20 from 3 land. |

That was wild, for sure. Two big threes, one to pull within 2 and then the second one to tie it with 10 seconds to go. Louisville shoots it way too quickly and then WVU gets the rebound and gets fouled trying to dribble up the floor. Game over on the free throws for WVU. Unreal. Helps keep the Badgers ahead of WVU though in the seeding. |

Michigan up by 8 on MSU. MSU's half court offense is near nonexistent.

what an idiotic thing for Hansbrough to do there coming in with 4 fouls and then practically bodychecking his man trying to get away from him off the ball ...
Played so brilliant until then, too. |

So Walker passes the ball once with seconds to go and his teammate is so surprised by it that he can´t catch it

You don't speak for the rest of the Big 12. Believe me. There are a lot of fans around the Big 12 that respect Frank Martin. I know Missouri fans blame Frank Martin for the Tony Mitchell situation, but aside from that what do you have to nitpick about Frank on off the court? |

Actually, Taylor was reinstated for the Texas A&M game. As for the "easy games" he missed I had no idea a road game at OU was so easy. Guess someone should tell Mike Anderson that road games are easy. |

Michigan 70, MSU 63. Michigan likely seals it's NCAA bid with the win even if it's best wins are beating MSU. State won't want to be done in a first round Big Ten tourney loss, or they could very likely be heading to the NIT. I think the only way MSU wins is if Lucas goes off for 25-30 in a game. State is decent at home, but once they take their show on the road they are done. Unless they get into the NIT, all games will be road games from here on out. I know Izzo is the best tourney coach, but I just don't see State lasting long in the NCAA tourney. They are a one tricky pony.

Exactly my point. College Basketball thread not a Mizzou thread. Some Mizzou fans have a hard time separating fiction from reality so having their own thread to bitch about refs, cheating coaches, and how great Mike Anderson is might be more of a benefit to a Mizzou Tiger basketball thread. Think of the positive to this. You wont have people like me coming into your thread and antagonizing you for all of the homer things that might be said in that particular thread. Yes, Im probably being ridiculous here but so many posts in this thread are Missouri related that teams like Ohio State, BYU, and Pitt get very little mention. Fun game @ WVU today.
Senior day for a group of guys that have won 100 (and hopefully counting games), made ther of Sweet 16 a few years ago and then had last year's awesome run through the Big East tourney and to the Final Four last season. Jerry West was there to escort his son out for senior day, which was really cool. I thought the game was over with about 25 seconds, so it was amazing to come back and win. With the make up of this team, I think this has been a fantastic coaching job by Coach Huggins. |

Im sort of confused as to the falloff with MSU this year. I know they lacked scoring options but it seems like Izzo has been able to work this sort of team out in the past. Was it a case of some poor leadership from the juniors and seniors? |

Izzo has missed on a lot of recruits the past couple of years and it's catching up. These are guys everyone wanted so it's not like he's doing a bad job of evaluating or anything. It's just guys that haven't panned out and it's not leaving Izzo with many options. Adreian Payne was talked about as a potential one and done. Delvon Roe was a guy everyone wanted. Sherman and Nix were both highly rated big men. All of them were expected to be impact players early and they're getting almost nothing from them. |

There's a big Mizzou contingent on the board. IMO you're being a bit ridiculous yes. Some might argue that the Vikings get way more attention than they actually deserve in NFL threads I'm following what's going on in the rest of the country but the vast majority of my posts are going to be about UNC, I don't see anything wrong with that. |

Well Coastal got as close as two and three points a few times but never could get even and lose 60-47. Just an incredibly bad game for Coastal-something like 20 turnovers, many blocked shots, and stupid things like back to back lane violations with about 4 minutes left in the game when it was still close. They flat out didn't deserve to win this game. So they head off to the NIT now where it will likely be a one and out on a season that was bursting with such promise (longest winning streak in the country for a few days, a near top 25 ranking at one point) to a complete disaster at the end (season-ending injury, one player kicked off the team, one academically ineligible, their lead scorer under NCAA investigation and not able to play the last month of the season.) Congrats to UNC Asheville for capitalizing on all the Coastal mistakes and the good defensive pressure that produced all those turnovers. |

Though admittedly a small sample size I obviously work with a ton of Mizzou fans, but also quite a few Illini fans, and quite a few Jayhawk fans. They all think he is a hothead. Basically a Bobby Knight trapped in the wrong era. He has done well with Huggins recruits but it will be interesting to see what happens once Pullen leaves. Maybe he already sees the writing on the wall and is considering the jump? I also am a regular poster on a few different Tiger message boards and it seems like the one thing KU and Mizzou fans come together on is their hatred of K-State. (which includes Frank Martin) |

It's like the the people that bitch about JiMGa in the political threads but respond to every one of his posts. Plus if Mizzou is banned it will be weird having a thread about the final four and only being able to discuss 3 teams. |

69-62 Harvard with about 4 minutes to go in the 2nd half. Mondo impressed with what Tommy Amaker has done with that team in the years he's been there. From Jeremy Lin NBA player to knocking on the doorstep of the tournament, I hope they pull it off. I just read it. Apparently if Princeton beats Penn, the one game playoff is at a neutral site, but the teams will be considered co-conference champions. It's Harvard first-ever Ivy League title in men's basketball.

+1 Meanwhile, most people aren't likely to post about teams that don't interest them much, but I suppose someone could start a thread for "Teams that might be good but hardly anybody here gives a damn about them except in the most generic sense". Hell, I've got at least as much interest in Pumpy talking about UNO basketball as I do in most of the Big East.

As a side note, ESPN really needs to figure out how to distribute ESPN3. I get they don't want to cut into their television ad revenue, but if Hulu is making a mint and Netflix is swimming in cash, it's about time we had a viable subscription based, on-demand sports option. It'll come eventually, but...it's annoying having to wait in the meantime.

Crimson 77, Princeton 67 with about 20 seconds left. Princeton has to beat Penn at the Palestra on on Tuesday to force a tiebreaker playoff game. I don't know who would host the game, but if it's Cambridge, I like Harvard's chances. Heck of a season for them. |

UNC had a nice lead that disappeared quickly after a half in Durham, hopefully things will be different at home. That was a very enjoyable, high energy half though for sure. Hate seeing Henson have foul trouble, but Marshall has been awesome.

Frank Martin on the court is different from off the court. On the court, Frank Martin is definitely a hot head. He'll yell f-bombs and get into his own players' faces. Off the court, he's a great guy and a fun interview. In fact, at the KU - KSU game he made a point before the game to suggest KSU fans donate to the Lisa Robinson Scholarship fund. I would definitely suggest you listen to a Frank Martin interview segment on KC radio some time before the Big 12 tourney. I think you'll sing a different tune. Huggins' recruits? Those guys are already gone. Beasley and Walker were Huggins' recruits. Pullen, Clemente, Kelly, etc are all Martin's guys. You're right though that they are going to be hurting next season, but Martin seems to find a diamond in the rough in transfers (Clemente and Kelly). We'll see if he can pull it off again. As for KU and MU fans not liking KSU, well that's to be expected. Most KU fans I know have a lot of respect for Martin and KSU. How we feel about their fans is something different.
