I might have lost my external hard drive that has everything from the past 3-4 years on it. Hopefully somebody was nice enough to see it and keep it in the classroom so it is still there.

But in a way didn't it make you appreciate life more when not dealing with them, I may be wrong.

I just got an offer for a new job, that's clearly better than the one I have, and they are offering more monies, more vacation time and a company car.

H_B is movin' on!

See, in states other than Michigan...

(actually, I have no room to talk. I did have a "company car" when I was a field engineer but I got to pay a fee each month to have it for "personal miles" and was really the way around paying FEs mileage costs)

H_B's new job is in Michigan! Though the company car deal isn't terribly surprising since his new employer makes quite a few of them.

Finding lost things feels great.

Lost a leather cap a few years back. Traced to where I last remembered it & called the Toledo, OH Amtrack station. They had it in the lost & found. They then put it in a box & on the next train to NYC. I picked it up at Penn Station a day later. It came back to me!

Mrs. A had a meeting yesterday, so I came home from work early to watch the kids. The little one was napping. I made Snoopy sno-cones with the almost-five-year old. We were sitting out on the steps with the warm Spring sun on our shoulders, listening to the birds and eating our sno-cones.

And I felt a great feeling of peace. And I said, "You know, whatever else happens today, I can tell you that this is going to be the best thing that happens to me today. Sitting here with you, in the sun, eating sno-cones."

He thought for a second and said, "I'd rather be playing the Wii."

I'll leave as an exercise for the reader whether his comment made the moment more or less precious.

That was one of the kids' Christmas gifts this year. It is work getting shaved ice out of that thing, at least with the ice cubes we have (the long, thin kind from an icemaker).

Sadly, this isn't random thought for me anymore, more of a daily thing.

My work has been slow for a while now, else it'd be more routine here as well.

It was my birthday today and my parents didn't call me. They sent me a check earlier in the week so I know they didn't forget. I'm 38 years old and don't think this should bother me but it does.

That bothers me too, Lathum, especially since I used to go out of hte way to never miss calling them on their birthday. Not exactly so much the birthday, but if I have to always be the one reaching out, that's lame.

FWIW, mine rarely call on stuff like that anymore but my mother has explained that they feel like they might be bothering/interrupting me, etc. when they call. It's become a standing thing now that I try to make a call on my b-day & such, sometimes even joking that I just wanted to give them the honor of wishing me a happy whatever.

The story said they couldn't reach agreement with the Toyota Center. Probably a lot of reasons, tho I don't think the NHL is one. They draw 6-7K a game here so might be able to draw more closer to home. And probably squabbling over how much each party gets.

Gwinnett Gladiators are facing issues with their arena as well, unable to secure a date for a home game past the first sequence of the Eastern Conf. semi-finals. Likely to have to play the rest of the series at Cincinnati (unless they can manage a 4 game sweep)

The three most frustrating words for a patient to hear after an already long recovery are, "Stay the course." Glad my scan showed nothing bad (we were afraid of a disc herniation at another level and/or scar tissue), but at the same time, it sucks still hurting when I should be farther along. It's getting depressing.

Extra funny since I had to see the hand surgeon this past Monday and he gave me the following options for my thumb:
1) physical therapy
2) cast it for a month
3) surgery to clean it out and possibly fix what's wrong

I went with option 1.

Aunt had a stroke which makes for three from the nine aunts, uncles, and parents I have. The first two left little if any footprint but my aunt is wait and see. Needless to say I already spent part of this morning reading up on what to do diet wise to counter this.
