I was hoping they'd go in a bit of a different direction at this point. Book 3 became so tedious following so many people for so short a time. That's where I bogged down in the series. The Bran and Scooby show annoyed me in particular. I was hoping Jojen and Meera would not be cast at all (though it would be pretty cool if we found out that Bran was the one who killed Renly, controlled through Melisandre while he slept).

I thought the HBO team did a good job where it varied in Season 2, so hopefully they'll do this well. If Martin were running the show, each book would require 50 seasons... here's the season where Brienne walks in the mud a lot but goes nowhere... here's the season where Jamie insults Brienne a lot while they're walking in the forest... here's the season where Arya learns a foreign language...

Huh. I consider Book 3 probably to be the best and strongest of the series. I didn't begin to feel any sense of bogging until Book 4.

Ciaran Hinds as Mance Rayder is confirmed.

I don't see it, but the casting has been good so far, so I'm willing to say they hit what they were looking for, and I like him as an actor, so yay.

And Tobias Menzes (Brutus from HBO's "Rome") as Edmure.

I think Menzes is Edmure.

Agree that Hinds is a more "weathered" than I picture Mance, but if he can bring his light-heartedness to the role I think it would be fine.

I love the look of the guy they cast as Tormund though. Perfect.

Yeah...I think Hinds will work. Mance isn't supposed to be a young guy after all...I think in costume he'll look the part pretty well.

I've got one or two more to post.

He's an extremely talented artist, was a developer at Microsoft for years and now owns his own company that produces apps. I don't think he has any plans to post them on any websites.

I was walking to work today and something at a newspaper stand caught my eye. It was a picture of Emilia Clarke dressed from the show on the front of the NY Post with a headline of "Thrones beauty in nude pix frenzy". Of course knowing how many times she's been nude on the show and thinking that typical nude pics would therefore not be a big deal, my mind was racing with excitement wondering about what could have happened. I didn't try to read the article at the time because there was some pretty sick shit going through my head.

When I got to work and was able to check out the Post online I was pretty disappointed. A bunch of GoT nerds took out their cell phones to snap pics of her doing a nude scene on Broadway. Cautionary message so no one else gets duped like me.

Just watched Episode 9 of Season 2, the Battle of Blackwater Bay again. That's such an awesome episode, right down to the Rains of Castermere (sp?) over the ending credits.

Really gets me in the mood for Season 3, which should be quite awesome, given the source material.
