Musk's Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate ran ~5% behind other GOP candidates on the ballot.

A few stray thoughts:

When billionaires actually care about the election results, they funnel money into it through various obfuscated channels. Ideally, we don't even realize that they did it. For Musk, in contrast, this was just another ham-handed attempt to be liked and respected. The election was just a vehicle for him to, once again, fail at that.

I suspect that the GOP knows how politically toxic he is and that there are some pretty high level discussions about how do we get this guy out of the spotlight without pissing him off so that he stops helping us with X, money, etc.

Every time I tell my sons that I love them, I think that it makes them ever so slightly less likely to become Elon Musk.

Tik Tok announced today thry are separating the US user onto a new app called "M2." It is going launch September 5th, and Tik Tok will stop working in the US in March 2026.
Sounds like it is setting up for the sale.

Supposedly Oracle is buying the American user base. Unclear if that includes the algorithm which they would be insane to include. I really don't see people downloading the new app.

Oracle has always had the inside track, as they are already tech partners in Tik Tok. I imagine the subscriber numbers will take a hit but it will far from disappear. It is about time in the tech cycle for something new to become the hot social media app anyway.

Definitely not. I think the price will reflect that (or a government contract to make up for it to Oracle). This is more about having control over social media content and appeasing some corporations and Israel. The only major social media not under U.S. control would be Telegram, and they arrested the CEO in France a little while back, so who knows how that turns out.

My son has around 50,000 followers on TikTok and can get anywhere from 10K - 2M views per post. If that drops in half because it's walled off, I know he would move onto something else. He's definitely motivated by the growing numbers.
