The same...mostly negative.

Love the Dean Houston post, though maybe it really is jbmagic pretending to be HA...

Oh, yeah. It's a pretty fun read, too. Kinda like this thread with maybe 33% of the cynicism (and 0% of the YTMNDs).

Their thread isn't nearly as long, but contains a few nuggets. Plus, extra points for the #1 MF fanboy showing up there:

This will be part of Updates. You can improve every game so MF is never like all other games finished.

Thinks. Target. These are not words that indicate a certainty. I'm still not holding my breath. And part of updates? No, you mean, part of patching because the programmer goofed off for a year without adding anything of value to the game. Honestly it sounds to me like he's half-assing it and relying on the third party developers to do most of the dirty work for him.

Quote:
Here i am not really surprised when you look at all the bashing , prejudicies and assumptions based on rumors and false "facts".

When you read many posts you have to think that all these users have invested money in this project and want now a return. Many of these suggegstions did not realize that there is a difference between what he can do and what is (at the moment) impossible. But the simple fact is DW is the developer and decides how this game will look. The user has right to achieve correct informations so he can decide if he wants this game but he can claim nothing more. Even when DW sas now MF will never released you can claim nothing. On the other said DW can not claim that you like his game. It is only offer.

I'm sorry, but a guy who publically whines about quitting a project he's been working on for four or five YEARS, whatever the exact amount is, a few WEEKS before the alleged release date strikes me as someone who doesn't have the commitment or the stomach for the business.

Criticism is a natural part of any business world and if he's so thin-skinned he can't recognize that he deserves a lot of flak for his repeated delays, pathetic add-on features after having an entire year to add a career mode (the reason the last delay was given for), then he has absolutely no business being an independent developer and should contribute what talents he might have to a larger corporation, where he has a much smaller audience to deal with.

But oh wait, that'd mean he'd have to meet deadlines in a timely fashion, wouldn't he?

This kid's got a lot of growing up to do and I strongly believe he's going to face an even more powerful firestorm of criticism when the game comes out than what he's faced now. When you've taken this long to work on a project and the game feels incomplete, the sim engine is busted, or there's major, major bugs, etc... whatever the problems are, you're going to get a hell of a lot more heat for it.

Maybe he'll prove me wrong and the product will actually turn out decent. Maybe he'll stop being so defensive and condemning of those who offer critiques of his game.

But right now, from where I stand, there's a better chance of my hooking up a threesome with Amy Lee and Kirsten Dunst than either of those things happening.

What about Football Mogul? Is it alright? Can you actually play games like FOF, or is it just the financial/GM role you fill.

In any case, I hope that FOF comes out with a new version soon. Something more customizable. I thought the game engine was very good, or at least good enough for Arlie(?) to consider other improvements.

BTW, is Skydog Arlie? I haven't seen him post in a while.

Yes. Oh sorry, no, its from "Media Relations" LOL

I love the condescending tone in it, looking down on anyone who dares to criticize all these endless delays.

You would think they were releasing shareware or something.

This is like watching a car wreck. But one where, every so often, someone walks over and punches the driver in the face as he struggles to free himself from the wreckage.

Two words: replay value.

A licensed game becomes outdated within a year because names change. Hence the reason why companies make whole new games every year.

MF will be as good of a game 5 years from now as it is today. Try saying that about Madden 2001 now.

Plus there's the customizability of MF, different rules available, etc.

Is that the real FranklinNoble or an impersonator? It seems like him, since it's a parrot post and offers nothing of value. If so, that message forum is starting to turn into The FOFC Boneyard. We just need mrs skippy to wander in with a rant and Happy29 to meltdown and that board will be an FOFC clone, just not built around an actual piece of software.

The league also clarified the no yards rule on punts - that the receiving team player is protected by a five-yard zone from where the ball first hits ground.

Do you ever get the feeling that some people are expecting a lot deeper game than the one being produced?

There's more people on their board now than were there the night it was supposed to be released. I guess Dean Houston is more popular than MF.

Well the 5 yard zone rule could conflict with the teleport ability, so I could see that delaying the release if it's added.

To answer your question about drafts. The CFL can draft players through Canadian Universities or American Universities as well. Most players in the NFL who did not make the cut, have the option of playing the CFL for playing time and get some football experience.

A player like Casey Printers who was the quaterback for the British Columbia Lions signed with the Kansas City Chiefs for three-years. Players like Casey get recognized quickly because he played in the CFL and that helped him get into the NFL.

Any more questions drop a line....
