Let’s talk about it more.
By need: DE, FB, MLB, OT I just signed a 59 pot guy in FA at OT that drops my need there, but I do need a much better O Line, and finding a better OT here at 1.28 is rarer than a good FB or LB or even DE. So OT might be the best way to go. But Hard to Read is rough on the eyes. He might finish in the mid 60s with the big gap in strength. Now if Wolfe’s bars were on Dennis? As Scouted? This decision would be easy, with that great rushing, but at ILB it’s less usable and the coverage isn’t as good as I like on my LBs. Wolfe is a better WLB, which I already have. But he’ll be better than Burgess. The problem is that none of these non-FBs look like studs. They’ll likely be in the 60s. So I decide to go BAP and take Engelberger. 2.28 – Alright…who fell and who do I like here at 2.28? OT George Vilma looks fine. He looks like a pretty solid OT back here. I grab him. Here he is! I interviewed him and he’s As Scouted and a stud at run blocking. 3.28 – Who do I like here? Hmm…the BAP is 5.5 rated MLB Riley Pillmeier so I grab him. 4.28 – DE Bryson Moorehead is okay. Not amazing, but fine. RB Miles Kovacs looks solid… I go Moorehead a position of need. 5.28 – How about TE Mark Webb? He’s not the best blocker but he’s good at catching that ball. I also like SS Santiago Hoover who is good at punt returns. I go TE. 6.28 – WR Shaun Blackwell? 7.28 – I found him. CB Hector Wellins looks pretty good with the bars. Rookie Lookie #1 1.28 – FB Dan Engelberger, USC, 44/70 2.28 – OT George Vilma, Georgia, 3.28 - MLB Riley Pillmeier, Minnesota 4.28 - DE Bryson Moorehead, Southern Mississippi 5.28 – TE Mark Webb, Minnesota 6.28 – WR Shaun Blackwell, Washington State 7.28 – CB Hector Wellins, Arizona Thither you goeth!

Extensions
I don’t extend Bowman he wants too much 100 mill 4 years. I extend these 2 years left players RB Lincoln, 210 5 years I leave the last 10 mill for players I might need to sign this season Top Rookie? Here’s Engelberger post bust and as you can see, he’s great in blocking, running is fine save for blitz pickup, and he’s okay in catching. I was hoping for a more studly body, but we’ll take it I’ll skip my busted OT Vilma who you saw in the draft. No one else wound up in the 60s or higher save for Dan. This was not a good draft

Stats
Offensive Passing QB Curtis – 374 of 570, 3942 yards, 27:7, 96.2 rating He had the most yards, 3rd most scores, and best rating. Good stuff Curtis! Rushing RB Lincoln – 413 for 1818, 4.39 ypc, 15 scores Nasty! That’s a great year for the 3rd year veteran. He led in yards by 500+ and scores by 5. Receiving Here are my catchers of the ball! Springfield another solid year, that guy has been so solid. Lincoln had a nasty 770 yards catching and over 2.6k yards from scrimmage. Flanagan had a great year again and got his 3rd All Pro in as many years, and Robinson and Skudris rounded out my starting crew. Blocking This year wasn’t great, but it was the best I’ve had with the Eagles. Good stuff O line. Richardson led my team with KRB and my OTs came through as well. Good stuff for Schau this year too. Special Teams K Ramirez – 41 of 50, Long of 61, 41 of 46 PAT Way too many missed PATs and FGs. Good long kick though! P Polley – 82 punts, 48.2 avg, 40 in 20 Almost 50% in the 20 and a great avg…Polley did quite well! WR Springfield, KR RET TD Dusty Hedges led my team with 22 special teams tackles

Defensive
Wagener’s tackle numbers dropped, and he only grabbed me 2 sacks. Did you see how many sacks Hampton had? This is the first time a LB had netted me more than 10 sacks! Hampton… led the league in sacks! That was awesome SLB! Sloan’s 7.5 sacks are what I like for my NTs and especially ones taken 1.4 and a stud. Cox was down to 8.5 but that’s fine for a 59/59 guy, and rookie Moorehead was 1.5 sacks. Hedges was down a few sacks to 6.5 sacks. Pass Coverage Our picks weren’t as good as last year. Nor our pasdef. Hampton led my team in pasdef and Bowman with 4 picks was my best. Riley is back with 2 pick, but I still need those picks to rise.

I end the season and with it the 2070s!
We score a 38 The 2080 NFL Offseason Ready for the 2080s? I didn’t get another e-mail from my owner about driving down cost Hall of Fame TE Deron Prior – Stud TE for Greenville, drafted 2.2, in 2065, 3 Rings, 1 All Pro. Good stuff Prior! Retirements of Note Eagles? WR Demetrius Skudris – Stud WR for the Grizzlies, 1.3 pick, 2067, 5 Rings, 2 All Pros, will he be getting the HOF with just 2 All Pros? 5 rings is a lot of Rings. We also lost our AC coach. Grizzlies? DE Rondell Dorn – Stud DE we drafted in the same draft as Xavier Russell at 2.20, 2068, 4 Rings, 7 All Pros, obvious HOF career! Other Abe’s Boys WILB Kai Fowler – Solid LB drafted at Greenville 4.30, 2069, 3 Rings, no honors Two of those are possible HOFs. Staff Draft We draft 32nd still My new AC is Donovan Gaines, 48, suitability of 53 I’m glad I won a Super Bowl for Raleigh before leaving for WV. I do not franchise Bowman, I may make him a normal offer though if his cost drops

The 2080 NFL FA Period #1
We draft 32nd and I interview many folks. I focus on LB for Burgess and CB I sign my RFAs that I care to and wind up with… I leave 4 unsigned at DB and TE. We have 45 on the roster and 24 mill for new players Extensions I cut RB Fuller and free up 8 mill – he dropped to 44/44 K Ramirez – Wants 44 mill,3 years. I sign him TE Flanagan – Wants 121 mill, 4 years. I sign him WLB Dusty Hedges – Wants 111 mill over 4 years, I’d like to sign him, but that’s an increase of cash of 18 mill this year. I hold off on Hedges until post draft. How much does Bowman want? Just 58 mill for 3 years. He’s a 9 year vet. But that’s a big cap hit of 20 mill for one year. I cut Ot Andre England and get 10 mill. I extend OT Davidson by a year and drop his cap hit by 6 mill Week 2 – Bowman signs with Richmond, Week 7 – Fuller heads to Portland Week 9 – England heads to the Giants. Are you ready????

The 2080 NFL Amateur Draft
Ready for the first set of rookies for the decade? Let’s do it! Picking 1.1 is Portland and I think they’ll take Qb Ron Pyne a studly guy and the best player on the board. They do so. See you in 31! Who do I like OT Branden Floyd – Not great bars, very overrated, top o line on the board OG Geoff Badalaty – Very overrated, next best O Line on the board WLB Ernest Marquardt - Okay bars, very underrated, could be my next Burgess or maybe Dusty Hedges. WLB Marty Hoang – Hard to Read, worse bars that Marquardt RCB Cornelius Falcon – Overrated, top db on the board Is this the Marquardt draft pick? Is this my pick? He’s not bad anywhere and weakest at run d, which is still fine. But very underrated leads me to think that he might be a solid investment for my 3-4 team. I could run him over Hedges or Burgess and run this guy out there. Or am I going to do a secret player that I didn’t interview? This guy is just okay, not amazing… Lemme think...

I’m just not sold on him.
Hmmm… WR Herman Nelson? OG Timothy Mathis? CB Phillip Geer? I do Geer. I need a new Bowman. Here is Geer. As you can see he has great bars, and he’s the 9th CB on the board so we are digging deep but I need a new Bowman and even if he busts he’ll still likely be better than my leaving 55/55 9th year vet 2.32 – LT Ezra Saenz? DE Henry McGregor? I prefer the ability of the latter. 3.32 – Who do I like here? WR Hector Wilkerson looks good and I grab him. He’ll replace Skudris who retired. He’s a looker. 4.32 – Who has fallen? MLB Dwight Ansell has. I grab him. I interviewed him and Hard to Read is bad early but worth it here at the back of the 4th round. 5.32 – Who is the BAP here? OC Neal Boyer is. I don’t need a new OC, but my backup isn’t that good anymore…wanna grab him? I grab the 2nd best player 5.5 rated Alan Ducharme LB instead. He looks like a grower. 6.32 - CB Rico Harmon – This guy looks good! He fell! Hard! No run D but great everywhere else. 7.32 – TE Kelvin Cheshier? Rookie Lookie #1 1.32 – CB Phillip Geer, Alabama, 28/74 2.32 – DE Henry McGregor, Penn State, 38/71 3.32 – WR Hector Wilkerson, Vanderbilt, 36/67 4.32 – MLB Dwight Ansell, Boston College, 28/73 5.32 – SLB Alan Ducharme, Oklahoma State, 29/45 6.32 – CB Rico Harmon, Central Connecticut, 22/57 7.32 – TE Kelvin Cheshier, Georgia Tech, 29/59 Ready for the 2070s with these warriors? Kansas City will be moving to….Anchorage!

No to Dusty Hedges. I’ll run Ansell as WILB this year for Burgess and then WLB next year.I hate losing that name though! I extend Cox for 3 years, 70 mill Rookies post draft? Here’s Geer after the preseason and camp. Other than run d, he’s pretty sexy! I like what he brings to the table, and his pick bar is pretty solid as well. Here’s my #2 pick. McGregor is a stud at DE and I hope he’ll play that way! He replaces Moorehead who wasn’t playing well. He’s good at rushing that backfield and alright at punching and thinking and he’s bad bad at coverage. Good stuff!

On the Green Page?
Both of those. Rookie Investigation QB - 68 for the 1.1 guy and that’s it. None of 50+ RB – 71, 4 50s FB – 66, 58, that’s it TE – 1 70s, ours the best TE in the draft, 2 60s, 3 50s. A very nice triangle. WR – 6 60s, 8 50s. Pretty deep. Our Wilkerson is the 4th best WR in the draft OC – 4 50s OG – 1 80s, 1 70s, 2 60s, 4 50s that’s an odd symmetrical – 1+1 =2, 1+1+2=4, the next would be 1+1+2+4=8 40s. The 74 guy was on the board at 1.32 and we missed him. OT – 89 -best player in the draft, 2 60s, 6 50s. Another triangle. D Line – 2 80s, 3 70s, McGregor is the 4th best D Line in the draft, 2 60s, 12 50s LB – 1 80s, 2 70s, 9 50s. Ansell is the 2nd best LB in the draft, and the one I was looking at with the 1..32 went…30/56. Glad I passed on him. DB – 1 80, 2 70s, Geer is 2nd best in the draft, 2 60s, 9 50s Good stuff!

Stats
Offensive Passing QB Curtis – 364 of 546, 3868, 25:8, 96.3 rating Despite the big record this was a down year for Curtis. We need to get his numbers back up. Rushing RB Lincoln – 426 for 1696, 3.98 ypc, 15 scores 6 more scores than #2, 336 more yards than #2. Good stuff Lincoln! Receiving Another great year by Springfield and he was 4th in yards but no All Pro again. Insert sad face here. Wilkerson was 2nd on the team in yards and grabs and netted a Rookie award too, which is solid and fun. Flanagan was 3rd with a down year at 617 yards and Engelberger was 4th in yards with a massive 500+! Nasty stuff FB! He had more yards than Lincoln! Blocking Our blocking was up and down! Great year by Richardson and Schau was fine, but the other three were sub 20 KRBs. We have to get better… Special Teams K Ramirez – 37 of 42 FG, Long of 54, 43 of 46 PAT Not bad Ramirez, better than last year by far. P Polley – 91 punts, 49.3 avg, 40 in 20. Another great season by Polley and he led the league in avg again. RB Turner – 1 PR RET TD Dusty Hedges led my team with 24 special teams tackles

Defensive
Hampton was not a one hit wonder last year. Dude rocked 13.5 sacks and led my team in tackles again this year! Nasty stuff SLB! Sloan led my team and the league in sacks! His 14.5 sacks were the best in the year by a whole sack, Hampton was 2nd in the league. A DT led the league? NASTY! I love you Sloan. Like serious man love here. Now, on the other side of the realm, Hedges grabbed me a nasty 9.5 sacks and was the 3rd highest LB in the league for LBs in sacks. DE Cox was 8.5 sacks, which again is about what you’d expect for a 58/58 DE that has a good year, and rookie McGregor gave me a solid 7 sacks, and I hope to rise. This was an amazing year for sacks. Pass Coverage Conway nabbed me 5 picks and 14 pasdef, great years for the S. Hampton was 2nd in picks and top in pasdef that guy is a weapon. 3 picks by fellow S Anthony was solid. Riley’s 1 pick is again a worry. Geer, my 1.32 pick, gave me 2 picks and 1 RET TD and 8 pasdef which is solid for a rookie

Team Awards
Off. Player of the Year – OC Kelvin Richardson – My first All Pro for the O Line and for this guy was a solid year by the man at a position OC, that’s hard to get All Pro as there are only two per year. Good stuff! Def. Player of the Year – NT Joel Sloan – It’s rare that a DT gets double digit sacks in a year, and has almost never happened for me. To notch 14.5? The best on the team? The best in the league? Nasty stuff Joel! He also led our team and the league with SEVEN FF! Special Teams Player of the Year – P Heath Polley – I have teams where my default player for this award is the K, but Polley is so good and consistent and has such a high % of kicks in the 0 that he’s my default here. Good stuff! Rookie Award – WR Hector Wilkerson – This wasn’t easy as McGregor pushed him all the way to the end, but dude won Off. Rookie of the Year, was 2nd on my team in catching, so dude wins this award. Heart Award – LB Donnell Michl – How did a guy buried on my depth chart this much get a pick and a pasdef and 2 FF? Good stuff!

I end the season and score a 38!
The 2081 NFL Offseason We have moved to Charleston, WV! What am I naming the franchise? The Charleston Charlies - This was the old name for the minor league ballclub, it’s alliterative which is hard with Charleston. The Charleston Wheelers – This was also the name for a minor league ballclub, it honors the Sternwheel Regatta history of the city. The Charleston Glassblowers or Glaziers – This used to be the home of major glassmaking and this name would honor that history The Charleston Mountaineers – The entire state of WV honors the idea of Mountaineer, as the state motto is “Mountaineers are Always Free.” Take it from WVU and use it here. The Charleston Power – The entire region is about power production. This is name of the current minor league ball club The Charleston Miners – Another key way to tap into the old history of the region. The Charleston Coal Miners – A longer name but alliterative. So which am I doing? I am leaning towards Wheelers and Miners…. Let’s do… The Miners. It’s obvious

The 2081 NFL FA Period #1
We pick at 1.30. I interview many. I would love a draft as deep as last year that yielded me 4 70+ pot players. That’s not happening, but hey, any port in a storm right? Right! My biggest need is LB where I want to replace Burgess as my rookie last year moves to WLB to replace Hedges. I sign my RFAs that I care too. LB Davison won’t resign. I have 44 on my roster and 14 mill available for new players Extensions Needed FL Robinson – I cut him. He dropped to 43/43, and I save 9.7 mill in cash, I have three solid WRs in Springfield, Wilkerson and Blackwell. P Polley – I sign him to a 55 mill 5 year deal OG Powell – wants 129 mill, 5 years OG Schau – Wants 58 mill, 4 years DT Sloan – Wants 207 mill, 5 years S Conway – Wants 50 mill, 3 years I want all four of those but I cannot afford them all. In priority I want Sloan, Powell, Schau and Conway. I’ll wait until post draft as I might find a new OG or SS. Sloan;s deal is an increase of 21 mil which is more than the 18.8 mill I have. I cut OT Kody Davidson which frees up 12 mill. WR Springfield – Wants 269 mill over 5 years which increases his cap hit by 8 mill OC Richardson – Wants 74 mill over 4 years and this drops his cap hit by 2 mill so I extend my All Pro. I hold off Springfield and my four year players of note and we’ll hold off until they play in and around stuff. I might wind up with a replacement in the draft after all. Springfield only has one All Pro in 5 years and hasn’t really played to an HOF level yet, do I want to screw up my cap on the Altar of Springfield? I’ll hold off. If I cut Springfield I could get 30 mill which should be enough for many of my rookies from four years ago that need extensions. Week 2 – Hedges signs with DC Week 3 – Hitchcock signs with Greenville Week 9 – Robinson signs with Tampa Bay and Michl with Jacksonville Week 10 – Davidson signs with New Orleans I’ll see you at the draft

The 2081 NFL Amateur Draft
Drafting 1.1 is the Indy Colts. My guess is they’ll grab OT Xavier Moniz a stud on the board and the top player in the draft…they go… S Haberman, Derrick. Moniz goes pick 2 to Chicago. The 1.30 arrives. Who do I like? NT - Marc Casas – Stud mtop player on the board, could be my new Sloan. WLB – 3rd best player on the board, weird bars, Hard to Read – not really OG Evan Thornton – Great bars for here, didn’t interview as OT was a need but not OG, so no interview for him. OT Manuel Whiting – Not great bars, Overrated Let’s look at Casas and Thornton Look how nasty Casas looks! This is a game of replacement. I love Sloan, but dude wants more than 200 mill to resign, and that’s not cap friendly. I could draft Casas and then save a ton of money and move on. However, Sloan has produced this year, and moving on would be unknown as I have no idea if Casas will play at a Sloan level of play. Sloan has two All Pros in three years and if he continues would be a HOF player. Do you replace a HOF player? Here’s Thornton, who looks fine and dandy although he’s very green so I could rest him a year and then start him a year after letting Powell or Schau go. He’s also good in the run blocking which I like. Who do you like?

I’m leaning towards Thornton as Powell hasn’t really pushed the boundaries like Sloan has.
2.30 – Who has fallen that I like? WR Ted Keith looks okay, not amazing, and would be a nice way to supplement Springfield. OT Kaden Cornyn isn’t the best OT I’ve ever seen, but he’s an okay starter. I grab Cornyn. I need a feasible starter at OT this draft after losing two. 3.30 – CB Larry Kocurek? Okay! He seems like a grower. 4.30 – How about WR Tito Robinson? I like Robinson a lot and take him. 5.30 – NT Henry Cote? He looks pretty sexy. A pass rush specialist. 6.30 – Who do I like here? The BAP is OC Landon Ellard and I grab him. 7.30 – WLB Pat Hastings? He really fell! Looks good! Rookie Lookie #1 1.30 – OG Evan Thornton, Central Connecticut, 18/78 2.30 – OT Kaden Cornyn, California, 30/53 3.30 – CB Larry Korucek, Iowa, 31/51 4.30 – WR Tito Robinson, Mississippi State, 26/50 5.30 – NT Henry Cote, Pace, 39/71 6.30 – OC Landon Ellard, North Carolina State, 14/46 7.30 – WLB Pat Hastings, Colorado, 14/55 There we go! Have I gotten a replacement for Sloan in the 5th round? Or is he going to bust?

The 2081 NFL Preseason
I hand out rests and massage my depth chart. I give Thornton a start now but may pull him back after the preseason. Burgess has dropped to 51/51. Week 2 – Augusta – We tie 16-16 Week 3 – At Pittsburgh – We lose 20-23 Week 4 – At Houston – We win 19-10 Week 5 – Baltimore – We win 27-24. We are 2-1-1 in the preseason Rookie Lookie #3 1.30 – OG Evan Thornton, Central Connecticut, 18/78, 25/80; 25/74 2.30 – OT Kaden Cornyn, California, 30/53; 35/54; 36/55 3.30 – CB Larry Korucek, Iowa, 31/51; 39/49; 41/65 4.30 – WR Tito Robinson, Mississippi State, 26/50; 29/49; 36/60 5.30 – NT Henry Cote, Pace, 39/71; 44/70; 44/69 6.30 – OC Landon Ellard, North Carolina State, 14/46; 17/43; 17/35 7.30 – WLB Pat Hastings, Colorado, 14/55; 18/50; 18/44 Bust by Thornton a bit. Korucek grew and I move him to nickelback. Robinson grew as well, and that’s a 4th WR with a 50+ pot, which makes Springfield…duplicative… I’ll run Springfield as my #1 guy this year to give him another shot at All Pro and Super Bowl but I won’t resign him. Hastings looked so good too I;m sad at the bust. UFAs Quinn Gaines RB, 28/45; 30/42; 22/27 Cesar Pritchett TE, 16/44; 19/42; 19/39 Alec Legband LT, 16/50; 19/48; 20/49 Buddy McCarthy C, 24/49; 29/48; 31/47 Mason Fleishman LDE, 27/56; 31/55; 31/63 Ruben Vaughn RCB, 19/42; 21/33; 20/24 Herman Charter RCB, 14/47; 18/41; 17/31 I cut: OC Landon Ellard CB Ruben Vaughn

Do I move Thornton off OG for Schau? Nope I keep him in
Extensions I extend these players OG Schau Sloan? Yes or no? I have Cote who’s 69 to Sloan’s 77. Sloan is 74 pass rush and 70 pass rush str and 80 run d, and Cote? 31/68 run d, 40/80 rush and 99 strength. He’s better at rushing but worse at stopping the run. Cote is just 25 at play D and 26 at hitting. Sloan is 95 play d and 85 hitting. Sloan is the better class of player. I extend him. Springfield only wants 204 and dropped a bit to 63/63 is probably why. I extend FS Conway and SS Anthony I extend 2 years left FB Engelberger and I do OT Vilma as well since he’s very cheap. I have 19 mill in cap space after that. Rookies? Here’s Thornton after his bust. He’s a stud at run blocking and fine at pass blocking. He’s a good body of blocking love. His strength isn’t much of anything, but that’s fine. I’ll skip my merely adequate 2.30 pick. Here’s my 3rd round pick instead. Check out Kocurek! He’s not good at the Run D, but he’s fine everywhere else and has solid even bars for the most part. Good stuff rooks!

On The Green Page?
Cote and Kocurek! Rookie Investigation QB – The best QB in this draft? A 45 pot. That’s not a typo… RB – 1 60, 2 50s. Light FB – 1 70, 2 60s, 1 50s. Square. TE – 2 50s. Wow WR – 69, 63, Tito Robinson 3rd at 60, 4 50s C – 61, 53. That’s it OG – 74, we led the league, 2 50. Wow that’s normally a deep slate of options, but not this time. OT – 89 – top player in the draft, 74, 2 60s, 2 50s. DL – 1 80, 3 70s, 8 60s, 4 50s. Cote was 5th best D Line at 69 pot. LB – 64, 59, 54 – that’s it. Wow DB – 1 70s, 9 60s, 7 50s – At 65, our 3.30 guy is the 6th best in the league. Good stuff!
