How did CNN not have the crowd noise turned on when the non indictment was announced?

Statement from Brown family:

Quote:
We are profoundly disappointed that the killer of our child will not face the consequence of his actions.

While we understand that many others share our pain, we ask that you channel your frustration in ways that will make a positive change. We need to work together to fix the system that allowed this to happen.

Join with us in our campaign to ensure that every police officer working the streets in this country wears a body camera.

We respectfully ask that you please keep your protests peaceful. Answering violence with violence is not the appropriate reaction.

Let's not just make noise, let's make a difference.

Lesley McSpadden and Michael Brown, Sr.
Parents of Michael Brown, Jr.

It seems like the media present has a real difficulty understanding the difference between a Grand Jury and Homicide, Life on the Street. Has to be intentional, because no journalist would ever spend months on a story like this and not know these basics.

I basically told my wife the same thing when the guy asked the question about the grand jury vote. How can you not know that?

Part of the problem is journalism in't what it used to be.

I have not followed this at all. So the story was his hands were up and now the evidence says he was charging the cop while he was in the car?

Will the "hands up narrative" go down as an all time media blunder/tragedy?

Did the someone in the room just yell when the prospector left: "Will You Sleep Well Tonight?"

The Q&A was brutal and embarrassing for the "journalists" there.

I don't envy Obama having to make this speech. He looked angry and tired. But I think we needed to hear from him, even though he didn't seem certain of what he wanted to say.

From the Chicago bureau reporter for the NYT comes one of my favorite tweets of the night:

Quote:
Mitch Smith ‏@MitchKSmith 9m9 minutes ago

Gunshots. A protester slams me against a brick wall. Another apologized. Now Beauty World being looted. No cops in sight.

I do feel for the owner of Beauty World, but that's a classic riot tweet right there.

I quit paying attention but this is just basically a (slightly) overzealous cop and a citizen who made a really bad decision and it got mangled by a completely screwed narrative?

That prosecutor's statement was fucking embarrassing.

As this one analyst is saying - it was a defense attorney's statement dressed up as a prosecutor's statement.

Not surprising, but what a fucking joke.

I can't understand part of the police response here... How do you end up with unmanned police cars nowhere near your riot police perimeter? That's so much of an incitement for the protestors that want to destroy property I'm wondering if it's a deliberate honeypot.

Wouldn't surprise me - especially combined with the fact that they waited until nighttime to make the statement and set things in motion also, which really seems to fly in the case of any sense.

Between looting the liquor store & busting out the McDonald's window, I'm not sure if we're watching riots/looting or a parody.

as somebody said earlier in this thread it was so people who have nothing to do with this and their children could get home from work and school without dealing with the peaceful protesters.

Watching the BBC World News feed and Ferguson looks like so many of the protests you've seen videos of from other countries. Reminds you no where is immune from this.
Can't watch places like CNN. It almost seems like they are hoping something will happen.

Protestors/Looters are idiots... But considering how much time the state apparatus had to prepare for this, if the goal was to minimize property damage I have some serious questions.

Are the looters part of the protests? Or are they just taking advantage of the situation for personal gain. Or if I put my tin foil hat on I'd say they were government agents planted to make the protesters look bad (it wouldn't be the first time they pulled this tactic).

Aside from that some protesters feel that sitting quietly won't do anything and they won't let other people live in peace until their grievances are redressed.
