On NFL opening night, I made the comment that Julius Thomas changes everything for the Denver offense. He makes it go from a very good offense to what I believed was historically good. Obviously, I didn't expect what happened, but my feeling is still the same. He's the X factor on this offense. I think NE has a great shot today, but they will need to figure out that guy without sacrificing too much on the other Thomas.

He missed the game the first time these teams played and Gronk was in it. If Denver wins, I think that simple swap of TE will likely be the difference. Looking forward to a good game. Good luck Pats fans. May no injuries or horrible calls impact this game (obviously, I'm talking about in game, what's happened to both of us has happened)

I hate receivers lobbying then getting the flag. If the ref sees it then they should throw it, if they don't see it then it shouldn't be a penalty.

Very inconsistent thus far by the refs on PI and pick plays. Both teams have ran 4 or 5 pick plays each already with NE getting called and Denver not. On the other hand, Denver lost a 1st and goal at the 1 due to a clear PI call that was not called.

Both QB's have gotten away with one poor throw. Neither running game is clicking. Broncos have been in a lot of third and longs, while the Patriots have missed a few third and shorts. If Denver wants to win, that must change.

I hate that Denver just lined up 5 wide and threw on 3rd and`1. Not sure that was much of a penalty either.

Called the third down run there. I figured they wanted to get a sure 5 and get into FG range. Huge run.

Losing Talib changes the complexion of the game again. I love what he brings, but if he can't stay on the field they need to find someone who can.

I wonder how much it would cost per fan to remove the commercial break after a kick off or punt.

Not sure I agree. Manning is 12-19 with a TD and 2 drops. He had a poor throw on the Decker holding play and got lucky on the throw to Welker, but overall, this has been him all year. He has only challenged down the field one time, which I think is a strategy by the Pats more than a strategy by the Broncos.

Brady got away with one and then had a massive overthrow. Denver really needs to watch for the big play. Usually I'm for a balls out aggressive defense, but today I don't think that's the best play. Brady has limited weapons, make him earn it up and down the field. Do not give up a big bomb like they could have.

Good to see the running game have a couple of good plays (before the goal line) Hate to see the CB's get hurt, though it looks like Denver's is back.

As did Brady when DRC read the play and jumped the route .3 seconds too soon.

That was not a duck. Second I was just pointing out that both have been a little shaky. Not arguing that Brady hasn't been.

It was a horrible decision. I watched the replay four times to see if Brady set it up, he didn't. That was a simple mistime by DRC. He had the play read and Brady dead to rights.

I rather don't care about "duck" "horrible throw" "horrible decision" or whatever other term someone would like to use. Both were poor and both could have resulted in a defensive TD.

Horrible clock management there. I don't disagree with a FG here, even if I hate it. But why give NE any chances? Run it down and end the half. I don't want Brady to have 1 second, much less 25.

Broncos need to come out and burn up some clock at the beginning of the third quarter and score a TD not punt or FG otherwise they are going to lose this game. They left way too many points on the field.

Agreed. It's tough though. Denver had it 4 times. Punted the first time.

The bad non call on Julius the second drive cost them a likely 4 points.

Then 15 plays, 93 yards and a TD

Final drive was an 8 play 63 yards drive for another FG.

While I think the score should be more, you have to credit NE for the bend/break type D and understand just how hard 70+ yard drives are in this league.

I think everyone understands it. They said it on the telecast, I said it here at home, you said it. . . that first drive of the second half is HUGE for both teams. If Denver could go on one of those 6 minute TD drives, the Patriots running game doesn't even have to be looked at anymore and Brady has not been sharp down the field.

If Denver goes 3 and out or has a turnover, the Patriots put 7 up and everyone gets very nervous.

This next play is beyond big. Exactly the drive they needed, but another FG will not be good. Need the TD here to finish this drive off.

Great drive so far, but you have to think that if they don't get a TD it's not going to be the statement they were hoping to make coming out of half time. Letting Brady hang around is never good, even as shaky as he's looked.

This one's over.

Oh well - I wasn't expecting the Pats to make any noise in the playoffs as I said a couple weeks back, due to just too many injuries, so this is all a bonus.

I hate Josh McDaniels' play-calling though. Can we get the fuck rid of him?

No Talib = no defense. McDaniels must be the heir apparent since he turned down the Browns job. So get used to it.

Brady also missed two huge throws that changed the tone of the game

You said this another time this year. If the Patriots were doint this to Denver, I would not think the game was over. Nor should you. You have TOM FREAKING BRADY. That was the exact drive Denver needed, but this is still not over. In 3 minutes it could be 20-10.

Now, if you were someone NE or Denver was playing like Oakland or the Bills? Yeah, it's over right now. But neither team is. They are playing the two greatest QB's of this generation. I hope you're right, but I'm not buying Super Bowl gear yet.

Yeah - losing Talib is a problem.

I hope to god McDaniels isn't the heir apparent (but the fact he came back scares me into thinking you're right). He sucks.

Anything could happen but it'll take a bad INT or fumble for this to become a game.
