Our next execution will be tonight. 5 players are left in the game, but one is exempt from execution this evening. BrianD is guaranteed a spot in the final 4. The rest of you, not so much. Good luck.

Fourth Execution
Alright folks. Five players left. One is the mole. One will be eliminated tonight. BrianD has a free pass to the next round, so the other four are vulnerable to be executed. Your scores on the most recent quiz will determing who is executed tonight. The person that knows the least about who the mole really is will leave the game. Tonight, we have a tie. The player with the slowest time on the quiz among those tied for the lowest score will be eliminated. Good luck. Don't forget to use spoilers until everyone has had a chance to watch the video. |

I'm still at work for awhile so I just looked at the spoilers since streaming is blocked. It sucks to lose anyone who is not the mole by this point.

Mission #9: Card Sharks
Current group pot: $174,000. Each of the four remaining players will get to play one round of the bonus game from the game show "Card Sharks." You will each begin with $1,000 and may wager as much of that as you'd like on each turn of the cards. Completing a level successfully awards you with $500 more to risk. When you reach the final level, you must risk at least 50% of the amount you have accumulated. The main differences between this game and the actual game show version are: 1) there are no substitutions of cards in this version, and 2) all money you are given to wager comes from the group pot (including the $500 bumps). Additionally, a $10,000 penalty will be incurred on top of losing the original money if a player goes broke at any time during the game. This will also end that player's turn. A player's turn also ends if they reach $100,000. Players may take their turn on a first come, first served basis. Simply post in the thread when you are ready to play. Demo of Card Sharks mission:
Example Player starts with $1000 and a King of hearts. He bets $700 on lower. The next card up is a 4 of spades. He now has $1700. He decides to bet $500 on higher. The next card is a 6 of diamonds and is up to $2200. He decides to bet $300 on higher. A 2 of hearts is turned over and he is down to $1900. The 2 of hearts is carried up to the second row and $500 is added for completing the bottom level. His total is $2400 at this point. Play continues until the top of the board is reached. A correct guess wins the amount of the wager and an incorrect guess loses the amount of the wager. The only exception is if the rank of the next card matches the rank of the previous card. This results in a push, no money won or lost. Below is a screenshot of a game in progress. It is not the same game as described above. It is just to give you an idea of what the game board looks like if you have never seen the show. And here is a video of the actual game being played on the show: Last edited by MJ4H : 10-21-2008 at 08:20 PM. |

I'd like a quick clarification on this bonus mission. You said that all money we wager comes from the team pot. Does this mean that any money won on this mission goes straight to the individual at the expense of the team? In general, the team pot is going to go down and the individual players are going to get some free cash?

Good question from Brian -- I guess I should wait for an answer since I've never played this game before!

All money won goes into the group pot. There are no individual pots. The initial $1000 and each $500 bump comes from the group pot. The penalty of $10k for going broke in the game also comes from the group pot.

So we are gambling with group money with the results going back to the group. Got it. What happens if there is a tie? If I've got a 4 of clubs and guess higher to see a 4 of diamonds, do you flip another card? Edit: I didn't realize I just used the exact situation above. Oops. Push, no money won or lost for that card. Another card is not flipped, we just move on without winning or losing money for that card. Last edited by MJ4H : 10-22-2008 at 05:05 PM. |
